Tony looked at her, pity in his eyes. The poor thing had quite the terrible experience at his library, and that made him feel guilty. He shook his head, he decided to at least get her out of public view.

Careful of her, knowing she had bumped her head, since one of those lumps came from his own head, he put one arm under her shoulders and the other under her knees. He was glad he wasn't wearing a sling any more, though he imagined this was not what his doctor had in mind when he recommended taking things easy.

He was rather glad he hadn't voiced that thought out loud, because the implications would have made their audience giggle and tease.

"I'm going to pick you up, okay? And take you into the office, so you can at least lay down on the sofa in there. Up we go," he said, picking her up carefully and getting to his feet. He found she wasn't very heavy, which was a relief, because the last thing he would want to do was fall over again while trying to heroically take her away from this mess.

Carrying her into the office, closing the door behind them and going into the back, where no one would be able to peek at least, he put her down on the sofa in Carol's office/cubicle, the walls shielding them.

"D-do you need some ice? Let me go get your things from the shelves, then we'll see about helping that leg of yours, okay?" Very worried, and willing to help her however he could, he made sure she was comfortable before he darted off nobly to recover her things from out in the library.

Blushing rather furiously, Amaravati told herself that really, she didn't need to think of the Librarian as heroic. Really. It wouldn't help matters to develop some kind of crush on him, especially after all that had happened. But %$*#it, they had been through quite a bit, hadn't they? Sighing, she tried to relax, and let him help her. Replacing the designer shoe that she had broken was going to be a #$^&@. It wasn't that she couldn't afford that kind of thing, but she definitely wasn't going to have an easy time of it running around on a sprained ankle.

"... Oh dear. How am I ever going to drive home now?" she bemoaned, the realization that had struck her before hitting her hard. And how was she going to get her baby home if she didn't drive it? Bringing a hand up to her face, she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Um. Thank you again," she added, glancing up at the really very nice Librarian. It wasn't his fault she'd had such a wretched time of it, really. Not at all.

He was all that was chivalrous and helpful, and she was certainly grateful for his assistance. No matter that it had gone awry, at least now she was semi-comfortable. Sucking in deep breaths, she tried to clear her head of the daze that she'd fallen into. "I think I might need some ice, yes. ... I probably do. I've never sprained my ankle before." She was glad to be out of the public's eye, at any rate. The last thing she needed was a picture of him carrying her into the office-- oh $*#@. How likely was it that one such photo existed now?

And off he went, presumably to fetch her things. He really was a dear man, wasn't he? She might have written libraries off entirely except for that. It was awfully hard to hold their particular situation against him, when half of it (at least) was her own fault. As much as she was used to being treated with distinction, she was also on the awkward side of things when it came to how to handle someone who was helping her, but wanted nothing in return. Amara couldn't help but want to come up with some kind of compensation, and wasn't that causing her trouble?

Tony returned to the scene of the accident, the thing that started it all. He gathered up her wallet, which she seemed to have managed to leave behind again, and the book he remembered her waving at him. He stacked some of the others and cleaned up the area a bit, looking under the shelf to see if he had missed anything and spotting her cell phone. Taking that as well, he made his way back into the office.

Taking a pit stop at the office fridge, he collected some ice in a towel and wrapped it up, putting a rubber band around it so it stayed closed. He took that with him toward the cubicle, but paused when he saw Carol, who was manning the desk, turn her head in his direction.

Carol eyed him suspiciously. He never carried her around. He looked at her, baffled by the way it seemed like she was trying to light his head on fire with a glare, then retreated into the back once more.

"Here you are," he said, sounding pleasant and unharried. "I found your phone. I think it's yours, anyway, unless my library has been stealing things as well as attacking people. Which, at this point, might be likely." He smiled at her, kneeling next to the sofa and indicated that he was going to put the ice pack to her ankle, gently holding her foot in his long fingered hand. Musician's hands, he had once been told.

A lot that did for him.

"Let me know if it hurts, or isn't helping," he said carefully, holding the ice to her ankle.
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 9:45 am

Ohhh deaaar. Amaravati was a lot of things, but none of them really involved a great deal of self restraint. None of them, in fact, involved ignoring attractive male Librarians with long fingered musician's hands who liked to 'rescue' damsels who weren't sure they ought to be distressed. Mentally telling herself that it was completely, completely inappropriate to stare overly long at said Librarian, she glanced up with a faint smile. "Thank you. I hadn't realized I'd left them out there, but really, how many purple wallets with hand-stitched embroidery can possibly be kicking around this place?"

If she had at any point noticed Carol and her apparent attitude, she certainly had no interest in pointing it out. Comfortably settled on the couch, she didn't have to deal with jealous old women (yes, she was inclined to use that description for Carol, if not Tony) who seemed entirely too interested in the doings of friendly librarians. "My hero," she said jokingly, and then grinned at him. "Seriously. Do you have any idea of the kind of trouble it would make for me if I had lost my wallet?" It was a big deal. A really big deal.

Unfortunately, it was hard to ignore long fingered musician's hands when one of them was holding her foot. She flicked her gaze in its direction, and bit her lip. ... No, it was still inappropriate. "Your Library seems rather wild, if you don't mind my saying so." Very wild, in point of fact. Not, of course, that either of them could do anything about it. Pensively, she considered the fact that the reporter (for she had decided that that was what he must be) had gotten away. It was very likely that she was going to open tomorrow paper to find herself somewhere in its pages.

Destiny City was never short of gossip to spread about. "Oh no, it's helping... I think. It's hard to say. I've never sprained anything before." Surprisingly. And also surprisingly, she hadn't really sworn at him in a couple of minutes. Maybe it was the pain that did it, or the distraction. "Really, it's very nice of you to be so helpful. You certainly have no obligation to me." She wasn't paying him, and they weren't seeing each other. Therefore, she concluded, he was simply a very kindly sort of man. That was a great deal more than she by rights could expect from a stranger, even a Librarian in his Library.

"I am inclined to agree with you," Tony said, not seeming to notice the way she was staring at his hands, or looking to him. He thought she was just making sure he didn't hurt her, which he was trying very hard not to do. His touch was light and careful, gentle, and his focus kept him from shaking or doing anything ridiculously clumsy like dropping her ankle or bumping into it.

He was not going to make things worse for her.

"This library has some strange... happenings... in or around it at least once a week. More, recently. And I do believe it is the library itself, in some strange way," he chuckled, "perhaps it was built of evil bricks."

He moved to put the ice down on the floor for a moment, wanting to take a look at her ankle. She said she had never sprained anything before, and he wanted to see if she had done herself more or less injury than she was reporting to him. Carefully, he moved to remove her sock, blinking at the rather frilly socks she was wearing. His were just... white cotton socks, but she seemed to have less practical or predictable tastes.

He wasn't sure of the point of frilly socks, since most of the time no one looked at them. They saw the shoes, or the socks were covered by pants. Why go further than getting black or brown or white socks, depending on the outfit, and then moving on? Of course, he never had to worry about fancy shoes, or even more than two pairs of them to pick from, and certainly never wore shorts. So his opinions on the matter were obviously jaded.

Wondering why he was having an inner monologue about socks, he carefully moved to slide hers down, fingers tracing carefully so he did not upset her ankle further. If it was bruising or sensitive he imagined any touch might hurt. Once he had it off, he examined her ankle, then put the ice over it again.

"It looks okay. I think you twisted it, and it will be a strange color come this evening, but at least you won't have to be trapped here for too long. Shall I call someone to come pick you up? Or would you like me to find some advil or something? You are more than welcome to stay here until you're feeling better."

He looked up at her, green eyes as friendly as ever. Even through all the confusion and embarrassment, he hadn't lost that friendly air. Now it was just more pronounced because he was calmer.
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 10:18 am

Oh her father would die if he saw her here. Seriously. He'd just die. "What exactly do you mean by strange happenings, if you don't mind my asking? The Library isn't... haunted, is it?" For a girl who considered herself very much modern, very now, Amara was just a touch superstitious. Of course, growing up in a house like hers had left its mark. ... And he had taken her sock off. ... Why was that distracting? Dazedly, she tried to sort herself out. "I'd like that advil, if you please. For the headache, if nothing else." Though really, she might actually need to consult a doctor, or something if the dizziness persisted.

%$*# the man. Really, how could he possibly consider it fair game to look at her that way? Amaravati was very sure that he was being simply friendly, but... friendly didn't look friendly when he wore it. That tended to be true of good looking men in general. Blast. Managing a rather distracted smile, she nodded slightly. "Well... I'm glad it doesn't look like it's broken, or anything. It would be quite a hassle if it was." Imagine trying to get around school on a broken ankle! "Err. If you don't mind, I think I'd like to stay here for awhile. I would just as soon not draw too much attention by having someone come get me."

It was not often that men like Tony knelt beside her as they fussed over her injuries. Then again, it wasn't all that often that she was injured to begin with. Certainly not this injured. "If I call away for a cabbie, or have my father send our driver, it will cause a stir, and we really wouldn't want that." Being trapped here for too long was not actually an unpleasant thought. ... Goodness, he had very green eyes, didn't he? Very, very green. She offered him another smile, and at least this one seemed to have some weight to it. "If I may be so bold... I like to know the names of the men who rescue me. We haven't been introduced." Extending her hand in a rather habitually formal manner, she said: "My name's Amaravati Priti. It's a pleasure."

And a pain. Definitely a pain. That might have warned her off of visiting the library again, but for the ever gallant Librarian. Really, it was hard to hold it against him. The day had been absolutely disastrous, but it had a silver lining. At the very least, she thought she was making a friend. "I really should get a library card at some point," she mused, considering the matter. She was going to have to take the book home, and books weren't allowed to just walk out of the library without jumping through the proper hoops. For all that it might be the first and last time she used the library card, she had no intention of giving up so late in the game.

"Ah, well," Tony said, thoughtfully, "uh... we have had quite a few... incidents... recently." He frowned thoughtfully, pretending to find something on her ankle that needed investigating. He moved the ice slightly, it just sliding right back into place, and then feigned satisfaction.

"A little while ago, some kids, for example, came into the library. We had this old section of reference books in the back, with handsome sitting areas and these beautiful, hand crafted wooden shelves. The only wooden ones left in the library, the rest, like the one you fought with, made of metal and put together by machines and bolts and what have you. The wooden ones, then, weren't fastened down and the kids shoved the one on the end. It fell, knocked over the next, and so on."

He looked a bit saddened, "it was like a tragic game of giant dominoes. Books were ruined. And a girl was nearly killed, poor thing. She hit her head, but was fine. Still."

Shaking his head, that was only one of the many things that had happened here. Among which were two youma attacks, which he wasn't going to talk about. He didn't mention those things at all, after speaking with Virgo and promising to keep knowing her a secret.

"Ah, y-yes, sorry. I was babbling and forgot to get the... just a moment," he moved to carefully put her ankle back down on the sofa, balancing the ice. It wouldn't stay, though, so he reached distractedly and had her sit up a bit, taking her by the hand and guiding it to hold the ice. That done, he moved to find some advil in the medical kit, getting a water bottle from the fridge. Carol was glaring at him again.

He didn't notice this time, returning to the cubicle.

He offered her the pills and the water before he took over holding the ice in place again. He didn't mind, and at least this way he was sure she was tending to it. Or he was, as the case may be. He offered her a bright, broad smile when she made to introduce herself.

"Anthony Darrow," he said, taking her hand again and this time shaking it, "I'm sorry to not have said so earlier. You would think, after all that, I would at least know your name. And I'll go get that form for you, so we can get your account rolling. Ah, well, no, you don't need to fill out paper work. I'll just..." still holding her hand, he once more guided her to hold the bag. He moved to sit at the computer nearby, opening the 'new account' page of the system.

"I just need a name, an address, credit card number and email, really. Phone number if you prefer calls to email."

Amaravati, who had never loved a Library in her life (if it was not her own personal library, that is), was having trouble not being moved by Tony's words. Though he had turned down her various offers of assistance, it was entirely likely that she would find a way around that. ... Maybe if she were to send the library some things she might be able to get away with it. Hmmn. "There's nothing quite like beautiful woodwork," Amara agreed, noting the wistful tone of his voice when he spoke of the shelves. That was definitely something she needed to look into. "And handcrafted items in general are, in my opinion, far superior to the alternative."

Factory made just wasn't the same, sadly. "Oh dear. Did you lose a lot of books that way?" Books were added to her mental inventory. Books, shelves... perhaps a nice set of tables and chairs? Something for the library to use in that intimate little sitting area. Pursing her lips, she contemplated that thought. "Tell me, are there any expansions the library is hoping to make? Perhaps to improve the area that has been ruined?" Was she seriously considering investing in a library!? ... Yes, yes she thought that she was.

Ah well. It really could have been worse. What harm could it possibly do for her to purchase a few lovely things for Mr. Darrow, and his staff? None at all, naturally. At least, that was what she told herself. "I have my own library, at home. I don't usually like to handle used books, you know. I am not overly fond of the way they tend to be marked up, and dogeared." Amara was exceptionally careful with her books. "My family has a library as well, but it's much larger than my own." Babbling. She was very definitely babbling. "Nothing like this, of course... but they brought over all of the books mother owned in India."

Her father had loved their home in England, and she had spent some very happy years idling in her father and mother's combined library. She smiled again, inclining her head. "Anthony, then." Nibbling on her lip in thought, she decided that she might as well simply give him the information he wanted, as uncomfortable as it was to part with such intimate details. "Name: A-m-a-r-a-v-a-t-i P-r-i-t-i," she started, following with her address, credit card number, and finally her email. "I'll give you my email, though I'm sure my cell number would work just as well. Would you like that in addition?" Smooth, Amara. Allowing him to have her number like that.

The librarian shook his head, glancing at her.

"Well, we were replacing the old shelves with new metal ones, like the ones in the rest of the library. But I haven't been able to complete the re-shelving yet. We lost a few books, and I gave a couple to the girl who nearly got crushed in apology for it. I have to admit, I've been putting off that whole project on purpose. I can't bring myself to go in there just yet, really. I've started, gotten a few shelves up, but ah... it's not the same."

He knew he sounded like a sentimental nerd, but he couldn't help it. It had been one of his favorite places in the library, save his personal collection upstairs, and now they had to get rid of those beautiful shelves because they had been broken and ruined by some hoodlums. It was hardly fair, and he missed, most strikingly, the way that section had always smelled. Old books and oak, the perfect little aroma of a library. He kept these fairly silly thoughts to himself, however.

"Oh, that sounds nice," he said, perking up at the mention of her own library, "I've a collection of books I keep here, upstairs, so I suppose that's my mini-library within the library. Mostly about knights and epic tales, legends. Things like that." He blushed a bit at that, imagining he was just digging his grave marked 'nerdy goon' even deeper.

Typing in her details, he nodded and seemed not to notice her comment about the cell phone, his head lingering in work mode as he created her account.

"Well, the cell phone might be best, if it's the most direct place to reach you. We don't call unless we need to, if the email or letters don't get responded to and you have an outstanding fine. But, ah, it's always nice to have contact numbers." He looked at her, knowing it had only been a couple of minutes, but still worried.

"How is your ankle feeling?"
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 11:29 am

Truly, he made the library sound magical. "I wouldn't bother replacing the old shelves with the metal ones, Anthony," Amaravati said evasively, shifted her gaze to the side. She had definite, definite plans. "Why don't you tell me about those handsome sitting areas?" she inquired innocently, turning her gaze back onto the Librarian. "Truly, I am fascinated. And oh, I'm sure that you would love to see our library. I favor antique furniture, personally. Beautiful old wood, and lovely fabrics, you know. The pieces I have are absolutely classic." Given her family's wealth (both acquired, and inherited), it wasn't altogether surprising that she liked that sort of thing.

"My favorite is this large chair, with clawed feet, and the most gorgeous brocade fabric." No one else had discussed furniture with her before, and she found that she was enjoying it. "It's very nice to sit in, and read. The library has enormous windows on one side which look over our garden. I've had the chair placed so that I can read in the sunlight, when I wish to." And she tended to take her tea in that chair, with the little end table beside it. Perhaps she was encouraging him to be a nerdy goon, but she didn't mind. "Hmm, well... perhaps someone will donate some new books for you, Anthony. It seems such a shame that your library has been thrown into a disarray." Someone named Amaravati Priti, in point of fact.

"I would like to see your collection sometime." Which was a given, wasn't it? Carefully keeping the ice on her ankle, she nodded when he mentioned her cell phone number. "It's 766-9062," she rattled off, trying to keep as comfortable as possible. "The area code is the same as the Library's," she added as an afterthought. "I do check my email from time to time, but it is much easier to reach me via the phone." Which she would check, even if she didn't check her email. Still smiling because he was actually kind of adorable when he was talking about book related things, she sat up a little straighter.

"My ankle? It's... been better, but it's not dreadful." There was nothing wrong with enjoying the company of an attractive man, even if he didn't know that she was enjoying it in a non-platonic way. She would rather have died than tell him so, after all that had happened. "Really, you've been very helpful." Her thoughts wandered back to the woman she'd see in passing when he'd carried her through, and she decided that she'd have to do a bit of snooping, and find out who she was. She %@$*ing hated having someone random watch her like that, and get in her way. Well, that stranger woman was not going to have the chance. Tony seemed inclined to accept her friendship, however determinedly his co-worker glared.

Tony looked wistful again, trying to imagine the scene she was describing to him. It sounded very ornate, expensive, and beautiful. Personal libraries were always so grand and charming, handsome and impressive. He wished he lived in a place where he could keep one himself, but he had never really thought buying a real house for himself was that important. It was just him, after all, and the apartment he inhabited was big enough for just him. It suited his needs.

And Booder, his hamster, was happy there.

He let her speak before he shook his head. "That sounds really, brilliant. Our sitting areas are nothing like that, I'm afraid. The back room was one of the nicest rooms, besides the ones that can be reserved for special events. There are just old, red chairs. Not old like, dirty. Worn, yes, but always clean and very comfortable. There are some tables that used to match the book shelves, but ah. Well."

Tony made a sad face, but it vanished quickly enough. He typed in her phone number, then grinned at her. He was a bit bashful about his collection. While he loved it to death he wasn't sure if it was that impressive, or if anyone besides him would really care about it. He rolled the chair over to her, scooting to relieve her of ice holding duties once more.

"Well, when you're feeling better you can come see it. It's just upstairs, but I don't think that would be a wise idea at the moment. And anyway, it might be better to avoid angering the library further, if it's out to get you today," he chuckled at that, not meaning to tease her rough day, but finding it funny. "And there's no need to thank me. This might not be directly in my job description, but I would much rather spend my time helping people out than sitting at the desk watching. In any case, I feel half responsible for most of what happened. I need to make up for it, a little."
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 2:31 pm

He looked... so sad, somehow. It made Amara feel badly that she'd coaxed that response out of him, and it made her all the more determined to cheer him up. She should've known better than to flaunt her wealth like that. Glancing up at him, and looking absolutely chagrined, she tried to find a more... neutral sort of ground, or at least a friendly one. "Perhaps when I've seen your collection, I can show you mine? I think you'd like it." Yes, she was inviting a man she had just met into her home, but... ah well. As soon as the school year was out, she was going to get an apartment for herself, so that might become more the norm, anyway.

"You are an exceedingly kind man," Amaravati informed Tony, giving him a relieved smile when he took over ice duty. "You don't have to help me out of any sense of obligation, you know. It's not your fault that I'm clumsy." It was, however, his fault that he was just as accident prone as she was, but she did not feel at all inclined to tell him so. Somehow, someway, she would pay him back for his kindness. She really would. If she intended to overpay a little, that was her business.

Looking wistful herself, she gave him a rather hopeful look. "Maybe you'd like to have tea some time? I'm rather ridiculously short on friends here." Even four years (had it been four years?) into living in America, and Destiny City, she was still having an awkward time of making friends. And it would be nice to have some adult friends that she could be more mature with. She was much more used to adults than her own peers. ... Admittedly, she was now an adult herself, but that was hardly the point.

"We can discuss books, if you'd like? Or literature in general. In all honesty, from what you've said, the Library had some quite nice things, for all that they probably weren't as fancy as what we've got at home. ... Good workmanship doesn't need to be fancy, you know." Oh she absolutely, positively needed to do something about that sad look of his. As soon as she got home, she needed to make some calls, put in some orders. The circulation desk she resolved to leave alone, as he seemed to enjoy being out and about. Otherwise, though, the furniture absolutely needed replacing. This simply would not do.

The librarian considered her offer, his expression thoughtful, but not in a way that indicated he didn't like the idea of her seeing his collection. He was just concerned, really, that it was wholly unimpressive, and it he ever did see hers she would be showing him what a 'real' library was. Not that he should be thinking such things. He found her to be a nice girl, and clumsy like him which was reassuring in some ways, so why would she want to gloat over him?

He needed to stop being so protective of his little books.

"That might be a good idea," he decided out loud, nodding his head at her invitation. At least to come over, he wasn't sure about tea, but he was busy shaking his head and reassuring her that he wasn't helping out of obligation. "I don't mind! I am certainly not here just because I feel like I need to be. I'd be a bit more grumpy, I think, if I didn't have some want to make sure you're okay."

He smiled again, checking her ankle. The swelling was going down, which was good to see, but it really wasn't going to be pretty for a while. She might have to cut back on high heeled or tight shoes for a couple of days.

"Tea?" He asked, finally catching up. Was that appropriate? Tea with a young woman he had just appeared to grope in the library? He wasn't sure on that one, but she said she was short on friends and he really could relate to that. At least those that knew him outside the library, rather than just came there to visit him.

"I don't think it would be entirely out of the question," he replied, a bit evasively. He offered her a smile, then made to stand up. Careful with her ankle, he sighed. "I think it best if you sit around for a bit longer. Ah... I would offer to get you a book to read, but... maybe it's safer to do something else until you feel you can get about?"
PostPosted: Sat May 15, 2010 3:34 pm

Amaravati shook her head chidingly when Tony seemed to fuss a little over her offer. "Oh, just tea, Anthony, really. It won't be a big deal." But he was saying that he didn't think it would be out of the question. "I'm afraid my collection probably wouldn't interest most people here. Or maybe it would, if they could read it. I do have some books in English, but they are outnumbered by the ones that are not. Really, my little library is quite small. It's the family one that's large." She'd have to show him that one anyway, though.

"I'm sure it can't compare with yours. What sort of books do you favor, anyway?" She was unconsciously echoing his thoughts, perhaps because she had similar reservations. He was a librarian, surely his collection was far more impressive than her own. Goodness knew what he kept up there. Amaravati was essentially a proud young person, and it was difficult at times for her to put herself out on a limb and risk being rebuffed. Had she been aware of what he was thinking about she would have felt stung, as she had no intention whatsoever of gloating about her library.

"We can't have a grumpy Librarian, now, can we?" He sounded like he was considering her offer of tea, but she wasn't sure that pursuing along that particular vein would win her case for her. When he got to his feet, she took over icing her ankle, and blanched when a particularly clumsy movement on her part shifted it too much. "Y-Yes, I think I'd better sit around for awhile. Thank you for the offer but... I probably need both of my hands for reading. Or I would." One to hold the book, the other to turn the pages, of course. Ow. That was decidedly painful, and she was not enjoying a minute of it. Hurrggh. Going still, she closed her eyes for a moment, and held the ice pack in place.

"You've probably got a lot of work to finish. You needn't stay and watch over me if you have somewhere to be," she added, wondering how it was that the Library could function with only one person taking care of things. It wasn't as if she would be going anywhere for a little while, and he was still at work, after all. $@*#ing %#@#, that twinged. Blah. If it weren't for how bloody nice Tony was, she would just as soon not come back to the Library at all, but he was terribly nice. Nice and oblivious, which for the moment was probably just as well.

Tony looked at her, a bit confused. Then he realized he had not introduced her to him properly. He had given his name, but didn't indicate that he had a nickname he often went by. It was so strange for anyone to call him Anthony, he was rather thrown off by it.

"You can call me Tony, if you like. Anthony is a bit long, I find," he smiled, shrugging his shoulders indifferently. If she wanted to call him by his full name he wouldn't stop her. It was better than Mr. Darrow, which just made him feel old. He watched her, chuckling.

"My collection is comprised mainly of Arthurian legend and books about the whole thing. But there are other legends and epics thrown in. I guess that's kind of my thing, really," he said, "I've been collecting them through my own purchases, through donations and through the library's contributions. I suppose that's a perk of working here."

Tony watched her as she winced, feeling guilty. He couldn't keep his pity off his face, shaking his head slightly. He wished she hadn't been hurt, and he moved to help her again, taking the ice pack and applying it. Like if he did it, it might help her heal faster, or something. Really, he just felt like he had to do something.

"No, no, I've nothing better to do. I'd be at the front desk, and Carol can cover it since we had to move it up here temporarily," if Carol was listening, she wasn't going to be happy, "I'd rather make sure you were alright first. See you off when you do think you can walk. Honestly, it's alright. It's not like they can fire me." He chuckled at that, because it was really true. They couldn't.

"What, ah, what were you here to work on, anyway? A paper, I suppose? You probably told me before but in all the chaos..."
