"Actually, I'm lean towards ghost types more, but that one refuses to stay in her ball, so I've been managing around her." he shrugs a little. "As for work, the usual grunt work. I get watch duty, and the odd job like this one, or stealing supplies. It's pretty boring most of the time." He let his words fill the air, relaxed, but his eyes on the road.
"Why did you join?"
Nika bounced and pointed at every cloud, dead tree and stick in the road, much like a small child. her attention didn't hold onto anything for long, but to her credit, she did not burn the the newest rocket member.

"You don't know how fun 'usual' work sounds right now," she said, watching Nika's tail out of the corner of her eye as the charmander shifted about. "I guess that's my reason; a change of pace."
"And, to, well, raise pokemon. I've never had one before." Oh Arceus, please don't let that sound as melancholy and pathetic to him as it sounded to her.

"Never? I never owned any myself before joining. Don't worry, you'll get one during training if you don't already have one." He shrugged. It wasn't uncommon to have trainees come in with no prior experience.
"As for a change of pace, probably not the best reason to join."
Tired of pointing, Nika got bored and laid down on her lap and let out a yawn, holding on to her tail, which dimmed. it wasn't as exciting looking out the window as she though it would be, and the movement was making her sleepy.

Emilie smiled. "No? Then let's say it's for the uniform. You can only wear red hoods and armbands for so long." She stroked Nika on the head and looked out the window, waiting for Panther to connect the dots. It would be interesting to gauge his reaction to her prior affiliation.

"I hope you don't mean team magma." he frowned, wondering if it was really a good idea to pick up a deserter. But he wasn't the recruiter, he was just a grunt. It wasn't his place to question, but everyone one of the rocket members he meet so far was messed up severely somewhere.

"There were... unusual circumstances. I worked on a contract basis out of a field office in Lilycove, only was brought to headquarters once in the beginning. Blindfolded. That's why they don't care enough about me to chase me down, I may be a lost asset but I'm no threat. Won't be going back to Hoenn anytime soon though."
The desert stretched out on all sides of the vehicle. The rock and sand all began to look the same after a while; Emilie fancied that someone searching for the Rocket Headquarters could go in circles for days without even coming near it. She wondered if they were getting close.

After many trips in and out of headquarters, he knew exactly where it was, even if he took a different route every time. Today he had taken a long way, circling around at least once. she would learn later the tricks, if she was taught them.
"I see." He frowned, wondering still anyway. soon the tower that was headquarters came into view. "That's it."

Panther didn't exactly sound convinced, but Emilie thought it was polite of him to drop the subject nonetheless. As the tower came into view she leaned forward to get a better look, moving carefully so not to disturb Nika.
"Awesome. What floor do you dump the newbies on?"

"The second. Some of the grunts live on that floor, I'm on the 3rd were the agents are also at. the forth is the elite agents and the 5th and 6th are where the executives and the boss are. I've never been up there. On the first is the main office where I'll check you in, and also the cafeteria and the infirmary. it's underground where all the interesting stuff is." He shrugged rattling off the list. After a while navigating became second nature in the HQ.
"I'm not sure all of your stuff will fit. Trainees and grunts quarters aren't roomy. I got lucky, I entered when the organization was a lot smaller. The 2nd floor was mostly turned off then."

Emilie nodded, reciting the list again in her head to commit it to memory, and shrugged off Panther's concern about the room. "Floor space is overrated, and a crate or two will work for a desk even if I can't unload them." Lofting the bed for more storage space should be easy too.
"Do we train the pokemon outside or on one of those 'interesting' lower floors?"
She hoped the check in would go quickly.

He pulled in the garage. "we'll check in first and then take your stuff up." as he stopped Nika woke up and looked around, holding her tail up as a light.
"As for training, some of it is in the training rooms on floors B 2 and 3, some will be on the field." he opened the door and got out, holding it open as Nika jumped off her lap and ran across the seats.

"Lead the way," Emilie said. She got out, swung the door shut, and started after Panther and his pokemon. "So, what was the most interesting place you've been in the field so far?"
As the truck came to a stop the thing in the crate began to stir once more. "Ch-chu?"

"Mmmm, I don't know. The field is always interesting." he shrugged, not wanting to tell her, for the most part if you were on the field, you were stealing and not looking around much. He headed upstairs to the main office on floor one, ready to check her in.
Close on his heels stayed the little charmander full of energy after her nap.

(Hope it's alright if I speed through this part- Can't think of much to do here XD If you have something to add I can tweak it.)
Check in went smoothly and was about as exciting as paperwork could be. Emilie let Panther do most of the talking, answering questions when needed. Nika looked energetic and more than once the girl almost forgot herself to babble at the little fire lizard, but soon formalities were over and she had a room assignment. Time to drag boxes and tie up elevator use. Goody.
(Do they get keys to their rooms? Key cards or regular ones?)

(Not a problem, card keys I think.)
It went better then he hoped, the girl was all checked in, and told where her first training session would be. He fallowed her back down to help her drag up the boxes.
During the wait, bored with her human, Nika's attention was on Emilie. She clung to panther's leg but watched her, in hopes of candy, or something.
