Vance and Lilah seemed to be in a pinch. Luckily, they were in this together! Once these veggie men were asleep, they could taste the king together!
Vance looked at Lilah interact with the veggies, wondering what they were doing wrong. Maybe if they did eat it all at once, it would work? But they seemed to be only eating one at a time...
...Clever.
Vance decided he would have to tease them into wanting more. "If you don't eat dem, then I'm gonna eat it ALL." He said, holding the bag away and eating some candy to himself.
Sure enough, the Veggie guards got jealous, and grabbed a handful each.
Vance waited.... nothing?!
Damn, maybe more? "You try Lilah!" He said eagerly. Maybe he was onto something?

Oooh, Vance had a good idea! Lilah reached her hand into his bag, while hiding her own behind her back.
"Yeah!" she mocked, as she started to eat a piece. "Besides, you don't hab enough...." What was that stuff that Maggie had said veggies had? "Fiber!" she finally finished.
Apparently, the Veggie Guards had had enough of the taunting, because one lunged for Lilah's bag, the other going for Vance's.
It wasn't instantaneous, but within a few minutes, the guards were on the floor, wrappers all around them, snoozing away.
Lilah knew a little how they felt.

The plan had worked! Vance turned to Lilah excitedly, with a big grin on his face. "We did it!" He exclaimed, taking the girl's hand and shuffling off to where the King was being kept.
And there he was. The delicious looking King of Candyland. He was indeed made of candy, and Vance was eager to have a lick. But, it was Lilah's final taunt that allowed the Veggie guards to do themselves in, so it was only nice manners to let her greet and lick the King first!
He pulled at Lilah's and, ushering her to greet the once captured King. "We came to save you!" Said Vance proudly. Surely the nice King would let them eat his Kingdom?

Lilah's jaw dropped. He even had a candy outfit! His STOCKINGS were made of candy canes! He was the most wondrous king she had ever seen.
Taking the keys off one of the snoozing guards, she unlocked the cage keeping the king.
Lilah, having read lots of stories, knelt quickly before the king and kissed his outstretched hand. Glancing back at Vance, she giggled and couldn't help what happened next.
Instead of kissing his hand, her tongue darted out and licked it. It tasted like every yummy candy she had ever had, all at once!
The Candy King laughed, not seeming to have noticed the licking. "No need for formalities, little lady!" he bellowed. He held open his arms, for Lilah to hug him (he smelled like cotton candy!).
"Thank you!" he stood and motioned to Vance. "And you too, sir!"

Vance stared at the candy King for a long time, just drooling at the thought of a taste of the royal majesty. Certainly he was the most delicious looking person he had ever smelled.
Vance looked at Lilah then bowed to the king, figuring maybe That was what he should be doing as well.
Vance lit up when the King motioned for him, running up to the King and jumping into his arms. Tact; the boy did not have it at all, and even got a little lick in of the King's neck after a quick sniff. Oooh so sweet and sour. And what a delightful smell.
"Can we eat your garden, please?" Vance asked the King with his best manners. "We worked really hard." Apparently getting home was not in the boy's mind at all anymore. Not in the slightest.

The king had started laughing, when Vance asked if they could eat his kingdom, and Lilah was smiling, but she felt her eyes drooping, and the king's voice started to sound father off.
Before she could hear the answer to the king's question, she found herself floating away, as she was lifted up, she saw under her twisting and turning roads, split up by colorful blocks, and lots of different areas, all fit neatly onto a rectangular board. Farther up, the king and Vance (oh no, she hadn't been able to say goodbye!) looked like strange, flat game pieces.
A moment later she was blinking open her eyes, in her own bed. Had she dreamed the whole thing? She had a pretty good imagination, then...
A twinge of sadness hit her. If it had all been a dream, that meant that Vance wasn't real! But she had liked the Frog-boy. This wasn't faaaiiir!

Vance smiled brightly at the King's laughter, hoping this would mean a big yes to his question. But things were seeming hazy. The world went blurry, and Vance suddenly felt out of it. What was happening? He was about to eat candy!
Vance woke up tangled in his blankets, most of them flipped over his head as he lay on his back. Why was it so dark?! Vance flailed and struggled to free himself, managing to kick off the blankets and sit up. Oh no... had that been a dream? It seemed so real!
Vance pouted. He wanted to eat candy with the nice girl in pink. The little toddler sadly dragged himself out of bed, sniffling and making his way to his father's room, in hopes of getting permission to have candy for breakfast...
...which would ultimately be denied. Temper tantrums ensued.
