When Inaari pulled away, blushing, Therion kept his hand lightly on her cheek, thumb stroking the freckled skin very lightly. Her lashes were thick and made her eyes look quite lovely up close and the thought that he could count her freckles definitely did cross his mind. So much so that he did let his calloused fingers trace along a few of them while he returned her smile.
Yes, things were going quite well indeed.
"I think maybe we could do this more often?" Now, whether he meant going up with food and laying out under the darkening sky or kissing, well...she would just have to figure it out on her own because he was going to kiss her again. And again.

The knots certainly weren't dissipating as Therion's finger brushed across her cheek and stayed warmly cupped against her face as the girl smiled brighter at his suggestion that they could come up there more often. Her brown eyes sparkled playfully as the sun sank further and the food cooled even more, almost forgotten as the two got to know each other just a little better.
Almost shyly Inaari's eyes dipped down to his wrist, and her fingers picked lightly at the tapestry they were laying on as a sparkle lit her brown irises. It was a happy one, and a mischievous one as she teased the glassworker. "Oh? Well maybe you can think of something to trade for dinners and company. I mean, the glass is very pretty, but I think there might be something else much easier to barter with." It was the boldest she'd ever been, and belatedly, she hoped it would end up worth it. If things fell apart now, she wouldn't really know anyone in the Weyr, and would never feel comfortable around Ther or his friend Lothan again!
She was silly like that.

Truly, he'd forgotten the food - or at least pushed the awareness of it to the far back of his mind (men never really forgot when there was food around to be eaten). The night was cooling as the shadows deepened around them; the lightest of breezes touched their hair and made his skin break out in gooseflesh that he barely noticed.
The big-boned youth tried to temper his grin so he didn't look/seem overly eager, but he failed miserably. Inaari was pretty, smart and she could boldly go after what she wanted. He liked that - a strong, beautiful woman was worth the time...his time, definitely. Timid girls made Therion feel like a big brother, but didn't make him want to be with them. Certainly, he preferred a girl that was more like a helpmate, someone that could hold her own with him.
And by the Egg, Inaari seemed to be all that and more. And she liked him. "Oh, I think I can whip up a few ideas..." He pushed his hand gently through her thick hair to cup the back of her head so he could give her another kiss, a bit more insistent than before though he was mindful should she want to pull away (he didn't think she would, but he didn't want to push too hard and then screw up his chances with her).

It was really different, kissing a boy you liked, who you knew liked you back. Or at least, she was fairly positive, or else why would he have taken the hint and kissed her again? The hand in her hair was firm yet gentle and it cupped the back of her head, lightly caressing and insisting. Inaari let herself be led for a few minutes, enjoying the cool evening wind that swept off the top of the Weyr and swirled around into the bowl and around the pair on the cliff.
Eventually, however, girlish shyness won out against even her own strong will and with a hand on Therion's chest, Inaari detangled herself. Her smile was luminescent, cheeks glowing with it and her eyes flicked up to his for a second before she laid her temple lightly on his shoulder. It was amusing, how he was so blond and pale to her dark and spotty coloring, only their eyes were chocolate and similar. Both were fairly happy at that moment as she blushed again.
"I think, Therion, this is the best idea you've ever had!" Shards, but if coming here with him wasn't the best idea she'd ever had, in her very short, sheltered life. Smiling again, she leaned up and kissed his cheek softly, before putting her head back down again - a bit more at ease as each second passed by.
"Maybe we can make this a weekly thing...if our dragons let us." No, she hadn't forgotten entirely why there were there, nor was she anything less than firm in the belief that at least one of them would Impress. Understandably, however, her mind was firmly more interested on the young man next to her than anything else.

Though he tended to be a reasonably intelligent male, Therion was - at the heart of it all - just a male. So when Inaari started to pull away from him, he had to fight against the urge to crush her to him further; thankfully he was able to do so, albeit reluctantly. Inaari's lips were so soft, so sweet...and she had responded so beautifully to him...it was hard to ignore the rapid-fire thudding of his heart, the surge of blood to lower regions of his body. But he did. Because he liked this girl and didn't want to scare her off.
"They'd better, or I'll be pretty upset. Maybe threaten to feed them only the stringy-bits." Ther chuckled a bit before continuing, "Guy's gotta have somewhere he can relax. Doubly good if there's a pretty girl and food involved." He kept an arm around Inaari, gently stroking her back; he was content in a way that he'd not experienced before with any of the other girls he'd been with. There was just something about his companion that felt right to him.
Of course, didn't hurt that she was pretty and steadfastly insisting that they would both Impress! He liked that too!

Grinning, Inaari caught onto the threat and added onto it with a wicked little leer on her face. It was the sort of villainous look that some Harper might wear when telling the story of a bad man with an evil plot, totally comical and not at all serious. "Yes, we can threaten to make them sleep with the whers for a night...that will keep them in line!" Her fingers drummed against the tips of each other in a nefarious gesture before it broke and she giggled.
"Or we can just leave them with a gangle of firelizards for a few hours!" The little flits tended to drive the larger dragons to roaring and distraction at times, what it would do to a juvenile of the species would be no doubt noisy and close to terrible.
Deciding that the pie needed eating before it was too cold and ruined entirely, Inaari sat up with more than a little bit of reluctance, pulling the basket close. The smell of rich berries hit the cooling air as the lid came up, and tiny freckled hands lifted it up and showed the confection to Therion. "Look good? Have any room?" If she knew any of the boys in the Weyr, and she knew them well! he would be thrilled.
Pausing for a moment though, she lowered the pie and smiled through her hair at the young man. "Thank you for coming up here with me, Ther. I've really had a great time." Understatement!

Inaari's addition to their pre-emptive dragonic threats made the big-boned young man snicker; his eyes crinkling up at the ends with the expansive smile that split his face. Smart and funny - a little voice in the back of Therion's head told him that if he let this one go, he was a sharding half-wit.
"My two would be bad enough, but if we got Tiepet's and maybe a few others..." The cacophony of screeching firelizards would have been enough to send the most stoic of dragons into a rage, let alone the hatchlings!
Whatever disappointment Therion felt at having Inaari pulling away from him was totally decimated by the appearance of a berry pie in her freckled hands. As a matter of fact, he would stare at it with a look that clearly meant she'd done a fantastic job. It was a pie. His adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, eyes totally and wholly focused on the treat being presented to him by small, feminine hands.
"No. No." Ther wet his lips and looked up at Inaari, then back at the pie...then up at her again. "Thank you. I've...you're amazing." Blathering idiot, but now he had Girl and Food on the brain. Food managed to divert some of the blood that had been pooling in his belly (and elsewhere, hay, he was a red blooded male)...so he would be able to focus on devouring the food with relish without being uncomfortable (or disgracing himself by calling attention to his crotch, thanks).

Blathering idiot might have been a good description, but he was in good company with the fact that the usually quick-witted young Caverns helper was also dull of tongue for the time she was spending in Therion's company. What problem she did not have, however, was the inconvenient male anatomy that was always so obvious. No, Inaari only had to worry about her heart thumping in her chest, and her breath coming short and fast when he looked at her like she was an extension of the pie in her hands. Thrilling it might be, but it was also unsettling somewhat as well.
What was a girl supposed to do with that sort of look?! And when he smiled - really smiled - the brunette wanted to make sure that all of those smiles were just for her. It was an odd possessiveness that Inaari had never felt before, and didn't understand at all.
So instead, she just let out a light bit of laughter and moved the pie from side to side in a bit of a tease, seeing if his eyes would follow. "I'm amazing, or my pie is amazing? I find your compliment suspect!" Laughter just kept coming as she took a small portion of the treat, before passing the largest share of the fruit pie over to Therion. "But it's alright, I made it mostly for you anyway. Aren't you lucky?" Inaari didn't think he was so very lucky, she had just tried very hard to impress herself upon his brain. Pie was a good way to a man's heart, on Pern.

As silly as it might have been to do so (not to mention quite un-manly), Therion did precisely what was expected of him: he let his eyes and head follow Inaari's movements with the pie. It was worth being a bit of a ditz to see and hear her smiling laughter.
"Both. But I'd say you come out on top." Since she had, you know, made the pie. And let him kiss her. Let's not forget that!
Ther took his share with another grin and gave himself a big bite or two before he answered her further. The pie was absolutely delicious - the fruit plump and practically bursting with flavor...cooked to what he could only assume was perfection. It just tasted amazing. Right then and there he knew that there was absolutely no sharding way that he was gonna let Inaari get out of his hands. Not even remotely an option now. Ever.
"Luckiest guy alive, I think." A bit of the filling was smudged on his thumb and he licked it off with a man's single-minded intensity. Food. Girl. Girl that made food. Perfection. Though he wasn't aware he did so, that one descriptive word came from his mouth - perfection. She could take it however she wished.

Perfection? Chocolate eyes fell to the pie, picking a piece off and taste-testing it. Certainly it was a good pie, one of her better ones; and it should have been with all the time she put into it! The dough had been rolled out time and again at least three times, the berries stolen from the fresh stores instead of using the older ones like they were usually told. Of course, that was for the day to day baking for the entire Weyr! Dates with boys up on old weyr ledges took precedence to the rest of the Weyr and obviously merited using fresher goods.
At least it did to Inaari, and nobody would have noticed a small cup full of berries missing from the large stores they had!
It did not quite occur to her that he might have meant that she was perfection, and it was probably all to the better than it did not. It would have caused a storm of blustering, blushes, and girly flutters that at the very least were totally humiliating! "Perfection? I suppose it is..." Inaari looked at Therion as she spoke, that almost ever-present soft smile dancing around her lips.
Putting her dessert to the side, Inaari stood up and walked over to the ledge again, looking out over the twilight weyr. "Hey Ther, would you still like me even if I didn't Impress?" It was nervousness rising again, a question that was fairly pertinent. The sands might reject her, and what then?

Therion tried to keep himself from gobbling the pie down like a greedy, starving wolf (the way he would have say, two years ago) so when she got up to wander towards the edge, he was able to look up and talk back to her without having a mouth full of delicious pie.
"I like you now, and you're not Impressed yet." He smiled at her and wiped his slightly sticky fingers against the rough fabric of his pants. "I'm pretty sure I like you, dragon or no dragon, Inaari."

Letting out the breath she hadn't known she was holding, Inaari whirled and beamed at Therion. There was one bouncing step, then two as her naturally affectionate energy manifested and was restrained. Hopping onto Ther while he had a pie in his hands and mouth was probably not the best idea in the world, and was a massive waste.
Getting berry out of your clothing was also generally hard to explain and a huge mess that neither of them would want to deal with.
Standing over the blond, blocking what little light was left, Inaari was surrounded by a small halo of light, eyes sparkling in spite of it. "I'm so glad....I definitely like you too, Ther."

If his arms had been empty, he would have caught her - no question about that! Standing or sitting, he would have caught her and been quite happy to do so...but his hands were full of pie and it was a very good thing that she restrained herself (for the very self-same reasoning listed out previously, plus one: Lothan would have kicked his arse if he got his new tunic stained so quickly!).
Therion looked up at Inaari, licked a crumb of pie from the corner of his lip unconsciously and spent the next few seconds trying to remember how to breathe properly; halo'd by light and smiling as she was, the girl looked like nothing so much as an angel come to bestow upon him delicious food and sweet, sweet kisses.
He was utterly tongue-tied. So he just smiled up at her adoringly and offered some of the pie. Like a dork. Later, he'd kick himself for not asking her to be his girl. Which he wanted to ask, but couldn't quite manage.

Like a bird presented with something new and unusual, Inaari tilted her head to the side before all but flopping back down in front of Therion. Shaking her head lightly, she pushed the pie back towards the glass worker. It was slightly vaguely disappointing, getting not a whole lot back for her statement, but the girl was not discouraged!
After all, he'd sorta said he liked her, and she hadn't said a whole lot otherwise in that vein as well.
"That's for you, really. I've got a sweet tooth, but can't manage more than a piece usually. Say...are you trying to fatten me up?" Hands went on her more than ample hips, twisting this way and that to get an eye of her figure in a playful manner. Really, though she was more than angular and willowy up top, Inaari needed no fattening on the bottom half of her anatomy.
In fact, she could probably use the opposite!

Ther knew that his response had not been what Inaari would have liked (he was observant enough to recognize the way her shoulders went a little down and the way her eyes darkened a bit due to a mild upset) but he couldn't get his tongue to move into words that would make it better. Just couldn't. He liked her, a lot. And he'd said it before...in roundabout ways, but still - he'd said it. He couldn't bring himself to say it again just yet - the Male in him refused; it was nothing personal at all. A guy thing, or something lame like that.
"Not at all. You're perfect just how you are." Inaari's hands went to her hips; she twisted about, showing of her shape to Therion's appraising eyes. "Besides, I'm the one that's gonna be eating most of it...hey, wait--" He made a big to-do about thinking over the "evidence" before speaking further, "--You're trying to fatten me up, aren't you?"
