Spen listened silently to Umuthi, nodding where it was appropriate. It was interesting, really, to hear her talk about her mother and the "bone stones" and her family situation. Such guileless, innocent banter was a refreshing change from dealing with jaded adults.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea," he concluded, agreeing with her decision to visit her mother once she'd grown some. "And by that time, I'm sure you'll have learned everything you can from your father; healing and medicine is very important knowledge to have."
He fell silent, head tilted to the side, "You have to promise you'll be careful once you do go visit her, though."

"I promise!" Umuthi said, smiling as she spoke, "I hope to know everything my Daddy does about healing when I go see her, so I can show her all the things I know, so she can be proud of me."
Umuthi's ears perked up as she heard a roar from the distance. It was her Daddy, he was looking for her. Her ears flattened a bit, as she wanted to spend more time with Mr. Spenta and tell him all her tales so far. She'd have to come back and tell him some other time.
"My Daddy is calling me, I should go," She muttered,"Mr. Spenta. If I don't get to come back and see you sometime soon, I promise to come see you when I go see my mom. Ok?"
She gave him a smile and nudged his leg with her head, "And I always keep my promises to friends."

"I'm sure she'll be proud of you," Spen murmured, ears perking as he heard the distant roar of another lion.
He chuckled softly, not denying the urge to reach forward and ruffle her mane with a paw. Spen offered a solemn nod. "I'll be around, Umuthi. It was the greatest pleasure to meet you."
He knew he'd see the little cub again; she was too charming. He made a mental note to patrol this area of "his" land more often in hopes of seeing Umuthi once more.
