"Yeah, well . . . Oh! So it's Orion. Thought it was like Oreo or something funny like that," Li commented with a little grin as they walked. "Huh, so you're named after a constellation . . . Nice. I'm not really named after anything. I mean, Dad's name is Yuijang, so it's sorta like that . . . only not really? But in a way that makes me special since I have two names - not in the 'hey, you've got awesome fur' special, but still a special anyway." Aaah, vanity~ Li Ming didn't seem to care that she sounded shallow.
"So what d'you think we'll find outside the pack boundaries, Orion?" she asked. "Maybe it snows everywhere else while it's spring here. Or maybe it's hotter . . . Oh dangit, I don't have the right fur for that!" She sighed. "Or maybe another wolf or two, you think? Hey, maybe there are intruders and we get to run them out!"

"Close enough, I suppose. And the stars? I don't think so. I'm named for a relative of my mother's apparently, though he may be named for the constellations." He smiled at her easy vanity and wondered why it bothered her that her brothers were so patterned - patterning didn't mean better looking, afterall. "I like the sound of your name" he said, truthfully. "It sounds exotic, different. I got stuck with the name of a wolf I've never known" it didn't bother him much, he hadn't really thought of it until now, to be honest. Being given an ancestor's name was, he guessed, an honourable thing but maybe a little dull.
"I'm not sure what's out there... now" he wasn't going to admit he'd never been past the pack boundaries to this precocious kid "Jove said it'll likely be warmer there, further into spring. And there could be others - that's what I want to find out - though I don't think we'll be running anyone out by ourselves" he smiled.

Huh . . . it would be odd to be named after a wolf you never knew. How else would you know whether it'd be a name to live up to or a name to salvage? If she ever had kids, boy she'd make sure that they weren't named after someone else; it sounded like it could easily be annoying to have to share a name. Imagine! Sharing a name! "Why thank you~" Li replied with a sly smile as they walked, referring to Orion's compliment about her "exotic" name.
"And I'll have you know that we could take one another wolf easy. Not that I want to fight. Used to, though! I was rough and tumble and tomboy as could be," she continued with several proud nods. "Now? I think I turned into a little jewel-loving princess. Siiiigh. It's not bad, but . . . not as fun as being the fight-lover. Maybe one day I'll go back to that. What about you, Orion? Thoughts on growing up? Not on me specifically, unless they went there sometimes~"
All idle teases of course, since that was all Li Ming knew how to do. She wasn't a hard-core flirter, regardless of whether she was aware of the hormones or not. "Or, if you're more interested in that, think we'll find a pack near ours? The mountains are kinda big after all."

The only females Orion had ever been around were his sisters, mother and aunt. He'd never actually been around a female whom he was not related to for any length of time - the only non-relatives nearby being Li Ming and her mother, Maia. So, to say Orion was a little uncomfortable at the light flirtyness of the young female might have been a bit of an understatement. He was a young male, fit, intelligent and woefully inexperienced in many ways.
"Huh, uh growing up? I don't know. I mean... my mother's the alpha so I didn't get to run about like you did" he looked sideways at her "I used to feel a bit like they, you know, held me back a bit and treated me like a kid, but well, I guess they cared" the note in his voice was uncertain.
He'd always 'understood' why his mother had been strict about his upbringing but he was beginning to feel like he'd been denied the opportunity to really get out in the world. Li Ming certainly sounded like she'd had a lifetime of fun already and she wasn't even as old as him yet.
"It'd be interesting if there was a pack close by. Kinda cool. I mean... it feels a little like we're all alone in the world here sometimes - especially in winter."

"Exactly! And wolves aren't supposed to be lonely creatures," Li Ming pointed out with a huff. "I don't know how how stragglers make it. I mean sure, I really like my privacy, but not having a pack or a home to go to at the end of the day? Ick." She shook her head, pitying the lonely creatures who had to stick it in the wild from day to day. It sounded exciting in its own way somewhat, but . . . not her idea of fun.
Worse was the thought that poor Orion couldn't even go out! Li looked emphatically scandalized. "You'd think that being an alpha's son, you would! And your dad's a friggin' shaman! No wolf should be holding you back if you wanted to explore," she commented with a frown, though it disappated when she spoke again. "Well, think of this as your big first adventure. I say let's move south some more, see if maybe we can find something interesting there." x x x x x x x Uh oh, is this right? the mountains looked all the same to him even though he was following his own nose and memory which, if you had asked, was impeccable when it came to those memories linked with scent. He'd always had an affinity of sorts with that. Still, for all of his travels, Adam was not very experienced in what he called "tracking" yet: the ability to find someone's mind wherever they were and travel to where it was. Apparantly a seer was capable of being able to talk with any wolf anywhere in Telk, but the only time he had done so was purely on accident and in fact painful. Poor Venda . . .
Still, the young adult pressed on, trying his best to locate the smoothest path up the mountain. It was hard to identify where rocks were, so his paws continually scuffled and stubbed themselves. Adam whined, sighed, and held back curses at intervals, spreading his consciousness unti lat last he found signs of life. Near the sound of he thought was a river . . . two wolves. One older than the other, male and female respectively. Perhaps they could help him locate the wolf he was looking for? He braced himself and continued onward, feeling optimistic despite the stabs of pain.

"Yeah, I don't think I'd want to be out there on my own... I mean being away for a day or two is nice, but forever?" He wondered what life would be like without his parents, his siblings and his tutor around, not to mention the others of the pack. A little part of him, inside, thought that it'd be great, but the core of love which had been given to him by the attention and love of others held him closer and he knew that, really, he couldn't do without them. Not all the time, anyway.
He snorted, though, as Li Ming voiced her next thoughts. "Your parents might be happy enough with you going where you want but mine want to make sure I act 'like a proper heir'" he voiced his mothers words in a falsetto impression. He didn't know she had been through the same as a youth, and whilst he knew he was loved, he was sure his mother and Jove 'didn't understand' what it was like to be held back like he was.
And anyway, it's not like what my father is or isn't matters... He'd never heard the actual term shaman, but he figured he knew what she meant. It was a bit of a sore spot for Orion - he and his father had never been greatly close. He was a hunter, through and through, not really interested in all that spiritual stuff. Sure, he believed, and sometimes even spoke quietly to the spirits but he wasn't one for thinking about it all day long. Jove had been more a father to him - always there with a kind word, or a strict one, and he often wondered how on earth his mother and father had ever even come together to make himself and his siblings, given how much they tried to avoid each other...
A grin crept onto his face, though, as the little orange terror went on "Yeah, I like that idea, but we'd better not find anything too interesting or Jove'll have a stroke" he snickered.
As his head moved back, eyes scanning the land almost unconsciously, something prickled at his attention. Something moving. "Hey... do you see that...?"

Li Ming laughed at his impersonation, finding it very similar to Mu'sha's voice. Though think about it . . . he's an heir! Li, you gotta take advantage of this. Not that she was being friendly purely for this reason, but knowing that it would come with benefits, well . . . it piqued her interest more than a regular friendship would; you could get those by the dozen, but for an heir to the pack? "Eh, let him have one. Jove could take it, he's a big boy~" Always on the move too.
At Orion's question and the sound of paws sliding upon rock, Li blinked and drew her head forward curiously, peering at the multi-colored stranger. "Huh. Yeah . . . He looks a little lost. Let's go see what's up!" she told him with a little grin, and then trotted right along forward to go meet the new wolf.
Adam was glad when he sensed at least some openness from one of the two, and his tail wagged in greeting as the orange and black form came to him. 'Hiya!' he said, moving his mouth even though the "voice" came from from his mind rather than his mouth. 'You're from Aves, right? I'm looking for someone named Quinn, I think he was here.'
"Oh?" Li Ming looked over her shoulder and called to Orion. "Hey, this guy's looking for Quinn! Don't think I've seen him about as much."

Orion's slow relaxation in Li Ming's company was undone in a moment as his eyes flicked over the unknown male. The most he'd met in terms of 'strangers' were Li Ming's family and they'd been around for almost as long as he was old. As much as the wide world and what it held intrigued him, the actuality of coming face to face with another he didn't know left him feeling a little shy and defensive - this stranger was on Aves land...
Still, one lone male was no invasion. He'd better put his best paw forward - he was a representative of his pack, after all. He forced the frown off of his face, managing a neutral expression, and followed the braver or perhaps more foolhardy orange youngster.
"Hey" he called as he got closer, catching Li Ming's words. "Quin?" The male who was probably closer to his father than Orion himself was - another outsider, too, but around before the grey male's birth. He thought back to when he'd last seen him and could only recollect a hazy memory "Uhm... Hmm I think he's with the pack, though I'm not sure." he said, coming closer to the unknown male "He and I do not see each other much, so I can't be sure, sorry". Orion's voice trailed off as he looked closer at the stranger - odd patterns overlaid by unnervingly black eyes. Was he blind?
Mind your manners, Orion, a voice said in the back of his head. "Oh uhm, welcome to our land. That is, the Aves land. You're uh welcome to rest, hunt and stay here". It lacked the panache that came with practice, but it'd do.

Ol-j-man “We just do~” Li Ming put ever so eloquently, winking. Now this was a sight! It was as if he had absorbed various creatures’ fur onto his own. And those black eyes, so mysterious, so enticing, so . . . dark; she wriggled inwardly in a burst of anticipation of what stories laid behind those lightless eyes. Although you’d think someone of that description would be a bit more, she didn’t know, aloof? Like the bad boy with a soft heart? But there she went projecting again! “When you’re born walking on rock, you just kinda get used to it. Anyway, I’m sure Quin’s around somewhere if you just keep heading forward. Kinda can’t miss him since it’s summer now with no snow to hide in.” Nope, for all the stranger’s handsomeness, Li was more inclined to explore nature rather than the wolf himself, so she didn’t include herself and Orion as possible tour guides. Or directions for that matter, not specific ones.Adam bobbed his head, not at all ashamed to show his exhaustion from the day’s travels. ‘Will do! Oh boy, I hope he’s not too far away . . .’ He nodded his head once more to the pair and ambled along forward, doing his best to keep his paws up to avoid being scratched more.

Orion was not pleased by the idea of letting the strange male go by himself. It was a bit freaky, that, hearing a voice in your head. He'd seen some odd stuff, sure, around his father but nothing like that. He also wondered what the male wanted with Quin. Had the black and white wolf gotten himself mixed up in something? His brow knotted as he cast a last backward glance before following the rambunctious pup.
He watched her for a little bit, as they continued on, wondering how she managed to be so casual, so good with people. It was something he'd never been all that great at. Still, it bothered him that they had actually come across another and... he hadn't done anything to stop him. Sure he wouldn't get to the pack without someone else seeing him, but how would he explain that? Pretending not to have seen him would probably not work out well and "Sure, we saw him, but hey - we thought you could handle it" didn't seem like a great explanation either.
He hoped fervently that he could find something else which would overshadow that. He hadn't even questioned, or for that matter realised, the fact that he was following Li Ming's 'orders' even in an indirect way. She really did have a way of twisting people around her paw...

Li watched this Adam wolf go with a little grin, admiring his backside's individual patterns as much as she had his front. "He's a sight, huh?" she commented to Orion, eventually having to pry her eyes away; she hardly noticed that her companion had not spoken much once the traveller had arrived. "And we're barely within the border even. Think about what awaits us beyond!" Maw open with a wide grin, she trotted on ahead, eager to see what laid ahead.
"Hurry up! It might be summer, but we can't burn daylight!"
