Tony blinked as she grinned at him. She was watching him quite a lot... oh. Because she thought he was cute? He had young ladies giving him that kind of treatment from time to time, and Carol teased him by saying he was 'hot stuff' and they wanted to 'jump his bone'.
Carol was intolerably vulgar sometimes.
He chuckled a bit, trying not to incite her further. He didn't mean to be encouraging, but most of the time he was so oblivious to things he just didn't catch when people were flirting with him or, more common and worse yet, thought he was flirting with them. If there was one thing Tony absolutely did not know how to do it was flirt.
At least not on purpose.
He looked at her when she asked him to go for coffee, offering her a friendly smile. "I'm not sure that would be very... proper of me. But you can always come and find me at the library? I'll be happy to help you with your book finding needs."

She knew it had been a step too far.
Proper? Selena pouted - she didn't care about proper. She would quite happily tell anyone she needed to that Tony wasn't a ****** and she was meeting him willingly. She just...just wanted the chance to get to know him better! To see that lovely smile and hear that harmonious laugh a little more. She glanced at her watch - she had to be going soon, she'd promised Scottie she'd be home in time to cook dinner. The expression on her face made it clear she didn't want to leave.
"Okay!" she responded to his handsome smile with the sweetest one she could muster, pushing herself up from the chair and fetching her bag. Selena was fully planning to make as many excuses as she could to return to the library - Tony would likely find himself suddenly seeing a lot more of the girl.
"When do you work, again?"
Subtle.

Tony noticed her face fall a bit, and he knew she was disappointed that he had declined her offer for coffee. He felt bad about it, but he needed to be more aware of himself and what it looked like to others when he was hanging out with young ladies outside of the library. Or even while he was working. Carol had, a few times, mocked him for the way he seemed to always have a teenager around him.
Was it his fault there were a lot of students here?
Her smile made him relax though, glad to see she hadn't been too insulted by the denial. Maybe she understood where he was coming from, or could at least understand that he was working a lot and maybe didn't have the time? Any excuse would do, rather than her feeling like he just didn't want to get to know her. That wasn't it at all.
"I work pretty much every day," he said, smiling, "tomorrow. The next day. Chances are good that if you stop by, you'll see me." He smiled brightly, still half oblivious to her motive. Yes, he knew she had wanted to hang out with him, but where work was involved he liked to think it was just that. She was a reader, wasn't she? So why wouldn't she come back while he was working? He would see her as the librarian behind the counter, and help her with books. She would have to come up with her own excuses for being there.

Every day. Well, that made it easy, then. Smiling sweetly, Selena glanced at her watch once again, pausing as she tried to take herself through her schedule for the week in her head - but that was never going to work, she was too forgetful. Reaching into her bag she pulled out the treasured diary, flicking through it and studying it for a few moments before looking up to Tony with a bright smile. "I'll probably come in at the weekend!"
Taking the small pen that was attached to the diary she scribbled something in, placing a little loveheart beside it. Snapping the diary shut she slid it back into her bag, bright smile remaining as she gave a little wave, literally dancing down the aisle towards the exit, "I'll see you then, Tony!"
Selena was very much looking forwards to the weekend.
