Vivi's outlook was one Anita appreciated, but wholeheartedly disagreed with. In fact, at Shepard's interjection likening it to hell, she couldn't have picked a more accurate description of her time spent with the Essence. And yet, how eager she was for the resulting Raevan regardless of the trouble both Essence and soul had given her. She had kissed dozens of people, nearly gotten eaten by that giant old croc and had to call animal control, but she didn't care.

She was positively elated.

Perhaps it was unfortunate there was no one in particular she had been eying while the mistletoe was in her possession. It would have made approaching a relationship easier but in her misfortune, everyone she kissed had either been a complete stranger or friends and family she didn't feel for in such ways. It was only slightly normal with family, but Anita herself was incredibly stingy with physical affection, especially that which came from her lips, and so the entire scenario had been one of incredibly embarrassment and frustration for her. It was terrible irony for her to get the Forceful Mistletoe when she refused to kiss anyone she wasn't romantically involved with and there was no such individual to be had.

"Oh, it was," she chuckled, reassuring Shepard with a lock of their eyes. It was difficult for the humble young woman to swallow, being called beautiful. It was a lovely compliment, especially from someone as beautiful as Vivi herself, but still Anita looked away from both Vermilion workers and rubbed the back of her neck uneasily. A soft pink tint was visible, rising to her cheeks, but she did her best to push it down. This was made easier when Vivi ran through a scenario of Shepard and the 'toe and Anita could help but snicker, "I guess it is!"

The man's questioning words had initially gone unregistered by Anita as Vivi shouted with utmost delight. Questions and soliloquies floated from Vivi's breath as though they were a byproduct of her breathing and every single time Anita couldn't help but smile or laugh. It was then, however, that Shepard's inquiry came with more force and she was given a slight start, braided pigtails whirling with the spin of her head to look at him.

His vote of confidence wasn't particularly reassuring but she couldn't blame him. It wasn't as though she actually did any of the work or intended for it to happen in the first place. Then Vivi came to the rescue, at least a little, but Anita was forced again into a situation of humble dismissal of her descriptions and compliments, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she looked away. "I wouldn't say all that," she breathed, flustered, "But I can't really take credit for it, either. He kind of... caught himself. At least, I think it was a he," it was nigh impossible to tell without being educated in the species, which she most definitely was not.

Ahh, but it seemed it was time for a story. Anita collected herself, arranging her pigtails back over her shoulders where they were most comfortable, and searched for the proper words to explain. "I don't really know where he came from, but he was lurking the docks at the beach by my apartment. I was just sitting there, had the soul bottle with me," she paused then, gaze clouding as she recalled the scene clearly and furrowed her brow, "It's weird to think and hard to explain, but... I think he might have known what it did. He had the perfect opportunity to hurt me, could have snapped one of my legs clean in half, as oblivious as I was, but he didn't. He just took the bottle." Clearly, she recalled letting her dog Tango sniff the object and immediately he ran out of the room with his tail between his legs.

Animals were sensitive to things humans were not, so Anita figured it wasn't impossible for them to tell that the object was dangerous. In that regard, all she could figure with the crocodile was that it, for one reason or another, wanted to die. "I was thinking I'd get a plant or something, you know? I mean, that's kind of boring with mistletoe, but I really didn't want to hurt anything in doing this. So, I tried to get the bottle back," and what an adventure that had been, "He was really protective of it so I didn't get a chance. I called animal control, but he was dead by the time they arrived. They thought it was from the cold, and maybe that helped, but his soul was in there." It was sad and the event touched Anita deeply. Dangerous as the creature was, she couldn't help but feel sympathy for it. Maybe it had a disease, maybe it was in pain, there were any number of reasons for it to want to get its end over with, but she would never know.

All she could hope was that it was happy now.

What followed was a long moment of silence -- one that felt longer, perhaps, than it really was, what with there having been so little of it in the shop since Anita had entered. It was not an awkward silence, or a painful silence, but rather an introspective, feeling sort of silence, one that was made warm by the understanding expressions on the faces of Anita's audience.

"It is not le sport," Vivi said, breaking the quiet, "to kill the animal, I think, non? Not for either of us. Not when you think of it." She shook her head, peering down at the soul bottle that yet remained, at the soul that still wandered slowly about within it. "Our stories are a little similar, you know! For the Stag, he followed me and took my bottle when I was not prepared to give it to him -- oh!" A faint grimace briefly marred her features. "How he ran from me! It was not the danger that yours must have been, but it was terrible all the same."

Shepard remained all quietness, his posture easy and strangely reassuring, his eyes distant and mild and warm... but for the barest, briefest of seconds, there was something like anger that flashed in his gaze.

"But you know they will be reborn, our little thieves! And reborn into a life where we shall make sure the hardships of their lives are not the same. It is a hopeful thing -- and for a crocodile..." Vivi mused, her high spirits slowly seeping back into her tone. She smiled a very intrigued sort of smile at Anita, her mind wandering again to the eventual rebirth of the unhappy reptile. "The terror that he must have been! And what a charming sort of beast the pair will give to you when it is ready, non? Perhaps this way you know that he or she shall bring with them adventure!"

And Shepard shook his head just slightly, as if to say that perhaps -- just perhaps -- adventure was not as good a thing as Vivi seemed to think it.

Through Vivi's introspection and offerings of an optimistic outlook, Anita could only help but nod and smile. The sound of the woman's voice was calming enough and the way she worded things made it impossible for her to not at least grin. They were in perfect agreement as to how they felt about acquiring their Raevan's souls and a stag, what a beautiful creature that would turn out to be painted by the colors of dawn!

If one thing could be said about her Essence and soul, they were decidedly green. The color of envy and life, surely it would present itself somehow upon her Raevan's third of a form.

Occasionally Anita's gaze shifted, switching curiously between the two bakery owners while clinging onto every word Vivi had to say. Until then Shepard had seemed content, albeit quiet. He hadn't come off as the most easily social creature, especially when compared to Vivi, but for a split second there was something different there and Anita was having difficulty pairing such a reaction between the current conversation. Maybe he had just remembered something that annoyed him, or perhaps it was just gas. At least, she hoped neither she nor Vivi had said something to frustrate the man.

"But you know," her green eyes darted back to Vivi, brows raised curiously as she continued. A short laugh slipped between her lips and she rested a hand on her side, "I'm sure they'll both be charming." Adventure could be just what was needed in their lives. When Anita had first stepped into this bakery, lovely as it was, there were no customers and the two seemed fairly bored. She, too, had been quite bored until she first spotted a Raevan.

"I think we should celebrate," she started, eyeing Shepard in particular for a moment with a wry grin, "When the little troublemakers are born. We should have a party." Alex had told her, after her soul capture was complete, "Welcome to the Lab family". Now it was Anita's turn to impart that heart felt message to two others who were in the exact same boat. They could wait together and there would be nothing but joy.

"Mm, such a lovely idea, a petite fĂȘte~" Vivi pronounced the words with every obvious pleasure, her eyes flashing with eager mischief. In another moment, she was scrawling on the back of a business card, numbers -- both hers and Shepard's -- down in a flash. "A lovely way to introduce them to this world anew. Here, I shall give you our numbers, yes? When you hear news, you must ring us up, but quickly!"

"You're in for it now," Shepard informed Anita with a grin, peering over, knowing full well his number would already be included.

"Nonsense," said Vivi with firm cheeriness, and held out the card to Anita. The Aussie seemed about to rejoin -- perhaps to warn, or to joke, or to offer anything further -- but his reply was cut off by the tinkling of the bell and the sudden chatter of customers. Instantly he straightened, and, with a final nod and flash of a grin at Anita, bowed out of the conversation. Vivi hung on to say: "Mme. Anita, even before your little crocodile arrives, call. We should love to see you again."
