Jordan kept grumbling, he was gonna have two black eyes and a swollen nose now, "Dammit!!" he yelled and slammed his fist into the sink, which hurt that too. Holding his now aching fist he didn't feel the ghostly kiss on his cheek, he did however feel the room get noticeably colder and he shuddered involuntarily.
What the hell was wrong with this place?!?!? He rubbed his arms briskly with his hands and shuddered again before leaving the bathroom, and once he left the bathroom, it was fine. What the hell!?!?!?

He quickly darted out to the living room, feeling watched, and looked around him. Well he really didn't want to be in the creepy house but he guessed he would just have to deal with it. As well as find that hammer...

Hazel sighed again as she made her way up to the attic again. She had to avoid Jordan for a bit. He was obviously starting to catch on and get freaked out. She couldn't have him running off and leaving the place before she even got started on making her new friend welcome.

Once in the attic she laid down on the floor where her old cot used to be. She absentmindedly twirled her hair around her finger, her mind wandering to various places. But she sat up suddenly, knowing that he had to come back up here eventually. She grabbed the journal and tossed it to the floor, making a subtle thud as it landed on the hardwood. Hopefully, he'd get curious and crack it open again.

Jordan found the hammer he was looking for and darted in the house and up the stairs to the ladder, where he climbed up quickly and immediately began prying the nails loose from it. 5 min later he sat triumphant with the entrance to the attic closed and the ladder laying on top of it. That was just ******** amazing. He grinned at his handiwork and turned to walk towards his bed when his foot nudged something on the floor. His forehead crinkled and he bent over to pick up the journal, of which he was almost positive he had put on the dresser.... He looked around warily and sighed, "Your freaking out over nothing Jordan, it's just an old house." he said to his self as he grabbed his book bag from his bed and brought the books over to the desk, although how the movers had gotten it up here was a mystery to him. He began working furiously on his math homework before glancing up at the old journal sitting on the corner of his desk. The last time he had opened it was when the creepy letter fell out. He frowned and grabbed it, standing up and moving to his bed to get comfy. Might as well see what some old dead chick had wrote about, he thought as he cracked it open to the first page and began to read.

Hazel was sitting on the new bed that was in her attic. She found it quite comfortable, actually. Much better than the cot she once had. And it was in a different placement as well.

Finally, Jordan was back! He was fixing up something and she just sat by, watching as he did his work. He was actually rather strong, you could see his muscles working in his arms. Hazel smiled to herself.
And he picked up the journal too! She nearly squealed in delight!

But then he placed it on the desk and proceeded to open a different book. Sigh.
Hazel leaned over his shoulder, he would feel a light breeze as long as she was near him too..hm.
Hazel moved over to crack the window open slightly, only to return to his side.
It looked like athrimatic. But that wasn't her strongest suite. Granted, she had had a lot of time on her hands in the last fifty or so years, so she was much more knowledgable than when she was a human.

By the time she had figured out a few on the page he was standing again, and going to lay down. And what was this?! He was reading her journal too!?
She clapped softly, not making any noise as she went to sit at the foot of his bed, crosslegged in her long dress.

1937 ;; January 2nd.
Dearest Journal,
I'm resorting to you, the pages you hold are my only salvation. Daddy has been in a drunken rage for weeks now. It seems as though this is going to become a routine thing. I don't like it much.
Allen is being very studious, hording away in his room. He hardly talks now that moms died. Arthur is still the troublemaker he's always been. He's always picking on Allen for being smart. The only times the kid opens his mouth is when he's telling us of new news thats going on around the world. Apparently there's a World War starting. The second, I believe. I'm not really allowed to read newspapers, Daddy says I'm too stupid to read. This makes Rachel giggle. She's daddys favorite. I despise her for this. Maggie and John don't acknowledge anyone either. They're not really even speaking to each other. The baby is keeping them both up late into the night. I can just barely hear his squeals from my attic.

I guess I'm just trying to avoid what I needed to tell you.
You're going to hold my deepest fears. I've started this entry knowing that I need to tell you what happened last night.
Daddy came into my attic. He was so drunk, I'm not even quite sure how he made it up here without falling and smacking his head against the staircase. But he did. The glass is still lying on the floor as proof. His empty bottle..
I can still feel the blows. He was cursing mother, saying how she was a whore and a b***h for leaving him with us. With me. Hazel. He smacked his fist against my skull. I tried to run away, but he kept grabbing me and pulling me back. I was bleeding, and left on the floor when he finished.

His rusted throw up still is left seeping into the floor. I can't move. I haven't moved since he left and its nearly mid day.
I don't know what to do. But I can't stop crying.

Yours Truely,
Hazel.

Just watching him read her words was bring her to tears again. She still remembered that day, back when she was still thirteen, just as though it was yeseterday.

Jordan frowned and read the very first entry in the journal. It wasn't really so bad up until he read the second part. At this part whatever the dead girl had been writting had gotten serious, he frowned and finished reading, closing the Journal. He cast his eyes down on the bed thinking long and hard. He knew exactly what the girl who wrote this was feeling, granted his father really didn't like any of his kids but Jordan was the only one stuck with him. And he hadn't been beaten since he began hitting back, instead a bunch of hurtful words and obscenities were thrown his way whenever his father saw him, or any sign of him.

He set the journal down next to him on the bed before standing up and looking around the room with a different set of eyes. It held one hell of a story, but he really couldn't read anymore of that journal just now... He jumped slightly, broken out of his musings by the slam of the door, his own abusive father was home.

Hazel looked over his reactions. He seemed pained, lost in thought. He was setting down the journal, as if to say he just couldn't bare anymore at the moment. Hell, that wasn't even the worst of it. Wait until he got to the parts when he raped her.

Now those were stories to tell.
But at a later time it seemed.

Hazel was snapped back to the reality in which she haunted when she heard the door slam. It was nearly six o clock here. She sighed softly to herself before turning back to J.T., who looked rather ... well unhappy about the racket downstairs as well.
Hazel just sat and watched, there wasn't much she could do. But she hadn't really seen the father around much. She caught a few glimpses of the back of his head. But that was about it.

Jordan sighed as the customary yelling and cursing ensued his father's arrival home. Then he heard something about dinner and his eyes grew wide, ********!!! He had forgotten to make dinner!!! Arrrggghhh!!! Now he was gonna have to go down there and cook....

Jordan was really dreading this part... He opened the hatch and put the ladder down, making sure it was securely in place before bolting down it and tip toeing around his raging father in the living room. But despite his best attempts his dad still spotted him. "You lazy son of a b***h!! I support your a** and you can't even make dinner?!?!" he yelled chucking his empty beer can at him and narrowly missing his face before he zoned in on Jordan's black eyes. "Ha, wish I knew who beat you up, I'd buy them a beer." Jordan just looked away in irritation and went into the kitchen where his father followed him and kept ridiculing him the whole time he made the cheap a** mac and cheese his dad bought. Thank god that didn't take very long. "There!" he said slamming the pot down on the counter and bolting around his dad to retreat back up to his room. He pulled the ladder up after him and shut the door in time to hear his father throw a couple more insults his way.

He sighed and stood up, looking out the window.

Hazel followed Jordan as he left the attic. She was wiping her eyes when she caught her first sight of the raging father. At first, she was traveling back in time. She shrunk down, nearly hitting the floor in fear when she heard the shouting that rang inside her ears.

But she soon realized that the insults weren't heading her way this time- Oh no, they were directed at Jordan. He had his own father who seemed to like beer as much as her father liked whiskey.

Hazel slowly made her way to Jordans side as he rushed into the kitchen. She instantly felt his pain, and felt terrible about his eye.
She bit down on her lip as he threw together some yellow-looking noodles and retreated back up to her room. She chocked up, wanting to be a comforting friend. But she couldn't risk talking to him.

Instead, she simply sat down on the edge of his bed with a soft sigh. Her eyes watched him as he looked out the window, something she had done quite often as well.
"I'm sorry," She found herself saying under her breath, barely a whisper.

Jordan sighed and looked at the numbers on his alarm clock, it was barely 8:30 and now he was staying up here for the rest of the night, might as well get that math done.

He sighed, sitting down and scribbling through three more pages of math. That teacher was a b***h, then again they had all weekend to do it in. He looked back up at the clock when he was finished and was pleased to find that an hour had passed and he could go to bed. Simply because he was bored now, not much to do.

So he sighed and pulled off his shirt, chucking it in the dirty clothes basket, and pulled his pants down so he was only in boxers and threw those in the dirty clothes too before going over to the bed and pulling the covers back, he noticed it as kinda cold in here, so he went and shut the window before laying down.

Hazel watched as he finished his homework. She spent most of her time focused on his eyes, instead of the paper. One of them was swollen, purple and black. She felt a pang of guilt again. Which meant, she was actually feeling emotions again. That was nice, granted she wished it would have been something besides guilt.

When he finished nearly an hour had passed. He was turning in for bedand Hazel was heading downstairs. She found his father passed out on the couch. It took everything she had not to shove a sock down his snoring throat, but she managed to remain good. Instead, she shook her red locks out, making them fizzy. Then she dug deep into herself, bringing up old memories to make her ghostly figure furious.

She loomed over him, shouting into his face. "You worthless piece of s**t," Just as he had said to Jordan. His eyes slit open and he nearly jumped straight off the couch. Insteadshe caused the lights to flicker and the television to become static. "You're a worthless sack of s**t." She hissed at him. He looked like he was going to have a heart attack. And that was enough of that for the timebeing.

Hazel faded away and headed straight back up to the attic. Where she watched Jordan sleep for the remainder of the night.

Jordan, still snoring away, had no idea of his ghostly roommate's antics downstairs, and instead he dreamed strange dreams, dreams about the girl in the journal.
Which made him twist and turn in his blankets till he wound up falling out of bed in a jumble of sheets. He bolted up and looked around the room, his swollen eye wide for a moment before he sighed and looked at the clock, it was 10:00 in the morning already?!?!? Damn, he de-tangled himself and grabbed some clean boxers and a towel before opening the hatch and listening for his dad. Looked like he had gone to the bar again, good, that meant he could go downstairs and take a shower and fix some breakfast.

He made his way to the bathroom, turning the hot water on and sighing as he shucked his boxers off and stepped into the steamy tub

While watching Jordan sleep, she wished she could fall into a deep slumber. Though, it seemed as though he was rather restless. He even fell off the bed.

Hazel had giggled when this happened.
Turns out, his dad hadn't slept very well either. He was off at the bar by nine that morning.

Jordan didn't wake up until around 10:00am. Hazel watched as he ducked straight into the shower. Curiosity got the best of her and she followed him into the room. He was already in the shower, steaming up the place by the time she entered. She sighed again, something she found herself doing a lot now.

But she was racing back up to the attic to find the journal. She tossed it into the kitchen, it landed somewhere on the table. Hazel just wanted him to know he wasn't alone.

Jordan rinsed his hair and yawned, nearly choking on the water in the process. He spluttered and coughed before turning off the water and getting out of the shower and drying off. He pulled his boxers on and figured he'd just walk around the house like that as he made his way to the kitchen, only to see the journal on the kitchen counter.

That was ******** weird!!! s**t just didn't move around the house by itself!!! He was really starting to think this place was haunted, he looked up at the ceiling, verifying there was no hole there for it to fall in. "This is just getting weird..." he muttered and picked the journal up, cracking it open again.

Hazel watched as he finally opened the journal again.
Dearest Journal,
Tonight dad came into my attic again. He was drunk, as usual. I guess by now I don't really need to say that. He tends to be drunk almost every hour of the day. If he's not - He's hungover. I will never understand how this helps. All it does is make him angry.
He kept calling me Anna. I try to tell him that I'm Hazel. I've screamed it.
"Its me daddy- Hazel! Not Anna. Mommys gone!" But he doesn't listen. His voice is gruff, unforgiving.
"Dammit Anna! Shut the hell up!" Then he closes his hand into a fist and knocks it into my face.
"How could you leave me like this?!" Another blow to my thirteen year old skull.

I'm pretty sure I blacked out at one point. But I'm not certain. The rest of my family must hear me. My blood curtling screams ring out. But it doesn't matter. When I passed Rachel may this morning she won't look at me. Allens never around anyway. Arthur makes fun of my swollen face. John doesn't notice. Maggie has her own problems. Her eyes are dull, not sparkling as they once were. Mathew gives her problems, keeping them both awake all night.

When I try to ask for help, for someone to show a wink of compassion, I'm shoved aside as if I'm a scruffy house pet.
Though, even a mut would be cared for more than I.

Its nearly nightfall once more. I've just heard the door slam, and I don't want him to take you from me. So, I must hide you.

Yours Truely,
Hazel.

Jordan shook his head, setting the journal down again and muttering to his self "Boy do I know how you feel lady." not that he though anyone was listening. He grabbed a bowl and filled it with some cereal and milk then he grabbed a spoon and promptly began devouring it. He had went to bed without dinner last night since he was trying to avoid his dad and now he was starving. Ugh.

He was also bored, it wasn't as if he knew anyone really, and the one chick he could have screwed was freaked out as hell and wouldn't ever come back, which really really sucked cause he could use a stress reliever right now.
