The chompah, seeming not quite smart enough to understand them, twitched its cute little ears a bit... and then, well.... obviously the whip made Eolande the bigger issue, because the fluffy ball of death came at her, snarling and drooling a little.

"Eeeee!" Eolande squealed as the Chompah came at her. Though it hardly was the squeal of panic she should have been feeling. "It's too cute!" She complained before her body rippled and turned into the substance of shadow. Eolande wanted to give into the urge to try and touch her two fingers together to see if they would pass through, but with the Chompah charging at her she dared not drift away from the task at hand.
Eolande did not move to get out of the little beasts way. She assumed that, being nothing more then a shadow, it would pass harmlessly through her leg's and strike the stone wall behind her. Still, she did move to step to the side, so she'd not block Marlons shot. "Shoot! Shoot quick!" She urged him, her hands waving over her head as she marveled over how she could speak with seemingly no vocal chords.

Marlon couldn't help but shake his head and smile a little at Eolande's words. The hug teeth, the broken glass, the bloody prints.....and she still thought the little monster was cute. He had to admit it was deceptive, but now that he saw what it could do, he wasn't about to let his guard down around it. Even as he saw it heading for Eolande, his eyes narrowed and he shifted his leaner form into a ready position, though ready for what, he wasn't sure now. He had hoped that the creature would try for him first, since it had probably bore witness to the senseless destruction of the mall directory. Or perhaps it was only going after his friend because she was closer. Either way, he would have perhaps gotten the chance to seem heroic in Eolande's eyes. This time the shaking of his head was for himself; did this form come with some sort of ego?
Eolande's cry caused Marlon to snap out of his momentary train of thought, and seeing the immediate danger, he decided to leave nothing to chance. Putting both of his arms out and at his sides, he flung them both inward and toward his chest with all his might, causing two sets of spines to wing the creature's way. The momentum caused him to stagger back, almost falling on his a** into the fountain, but he took a shaky step back to steady himself and watched with wide eyes, biting his lip and hoping that at least one of the spines strikes the thing.....and none of them strikes Eolande.
