Shiro smiled. "I don't mind, I'm not too hungry but you must be.
Eating for more than one energy must be used quickly."
He wagged his tail franticly,"you like sweet stuff hey?"

Sayuri grinned. "Sweet stuff is the best," she replied. "I've never been able to help myself. Eating something sweet makes the world seem right, even for a split second." She smiled, thinking of the life stirring inside of her always made her glow. "It feels so weird, but strangly nice, to have something growing inside of you. I still haven't gotten used to it..." she trailed off, looking at her roundened stomach. She glanced up at Shiro. "I guess it's berries then." She gestured her nose it a direction to the left of them.

Shiro was sickened by her small talk as she spoke of sweet things,he smirked,"oh really...well I quite like sour things."
He wriggled at the though of his offspring, would he really love them when they finally came into the world,"how long now? I mean how far along are you", he quizzed and interjected, scowling at her oversized stomach.
He wondered if it would be right if he were to dispose of her and the children...or just the children.
His other side interjected in the debating with himself and it was dropped.

"Actually," she said quitetly, noting the new harshness in his vioce. "I think they will be here any day..." She searched her mind for a mental calendar. In fact, she though, it might even be tonight, or tommorrow. She was almost startled at how quickly the date had rushed up, but soon remembered to difficulities she was having walking. The babies were going to be small, or there would be only a few, seeing as she was still able to walk. "We should probably find a good place for them to be born." She stated quickly. Her stomach cringed in pain. "Quickly..."

Shiro looked at her sharply,"by any chance will that 'any day now' be today?"
He kept most thoughts to himself in his clouded mind,"...a good place...right. Well is there any where you live or you looking for something more on my own turf?"
As soon as she winced he let out a growl this was him trying to be defensive, soon after his other side whimpered, which made him angry at himself.
"So they'll be coming very soon..."

She smiled guiltily at him. "Well, it could be today. My pains have just been getting worse...." She explained quietly. "Umm, usually I just sleep wherever looks soft. I'm from the mountains and just came here very recently. I've never a had a chance to make a real home for myself." She looked into his purple eyes. His expressions were strange, almost as if her were struggling with himself.
She shivered a bit and suddenly noticed that the sun was low in the sky. How had it gotten so late? She needed to find a den or some shelter. She was almost positive the cubs were coming tonight.

"I live on the edge of the forest...it's good for hunting",he didn't look at her, he didn't see her the same as when he first met her, but things change and he would have to accept it, he didn't know what would happen when the children grew, whether they'd part ways or stay in each others company. He was always one to think ahead.
He glanced back at her,"we'll goto my den, it's soft like you like it and sheltered."

"Sounds like a plan!" she grinned and followed him in the direction he started to walk. Her stomach started to growl at the talk of hunting. She realized that they had forgotten to get something to eat. It didn't matter now, there was no time. "Let's go"

After quite a bit of a walk, they finally started to near the edge of the forest. The sun had gone down a while ago and the night was turning bitter and cold. The pains in Sayuri's stomach had only gotten worst, and the sharp winds did nothing to ease the pain.

Shiro grinned as they approached the den, it was almost a shallow burrow running through the roots of and old tree, inside the tree was hollowed creating lots of hidden space, the outside appearance was quite deceiving.
"It's not much, but the'll be safe until we create a better den."
He looked at her and ordered her inside,"come on you out of the cold now."

She was so glad to be somewhere warm. She felt weak and cold. Sayuri turned thankful eyes up to Shiro before she disapeared into the den. The warmth surronded her like a blaket, and the deep smell of earth filled her nostrills. She had grown up in a den of odorless and barren rock and sand, but her little ones would come into the world smelling one of the most beatiful scents.

Shiro didn't know what to think, he was kinda scared and shy, but he put on a smile and tried to be brave entering the den, he envied his other side for being so brave, he stays instead of running away. He let out a worried sigh.
Shiro checked no-one else was outside and looked back,"make yourself at home."
Shiro felt quite anxious and went to get out the few blanket he had.

She smiled kindly when he returned gladly accepting the blankets.
She explained to him that she needed at litte privacy, and moved to one of the more secluded parts of the den.

The next morning she awoke with tiered eyes. She started to stir, but soon remembered to two tiny baskets resting by her side. She let out a breath of relief... they hadn't been just a dream. It had been a rough night, and she felt like she could sleep for a few more days, but she knew she needed to find Shiro. The little baskets stirred as she got up, oh how pretty they were. Two little boys, one coloured soft pastels and the other with a little leoperd print on his fur. She nuzzled them quickly before leaving to find thier father.

Shiro had spent his night alone by the oasis out of the comfort of his den, the chill of the night had seeped through his fur, he had spent most of the night crying and arguing with himself.
His eyes were red, puffy and watery. He swirled the puddle of water with one paw and watched his reflection distort with it. He'd lost the argument.
Shiro was so tired, his head flopped into the sand, smearing sand into his face, eyes, ears and fur.

Sayuri skipped up to Oasis. There sat Shiro, silent, looking at his reflection in the water. He looked so sad that it broke her heart to watch him. He looked as if he had been crying for hours. Now he lay in the rough sand. Have I done this to him? Should I have came to find him, or would he have been better off never knowing he was a father? She pondered this silently, worry and guilt building up inside her. No, she thought quickly. I can't jump to conclusions. With that though she padded up to him and sat down. "They're here.." She said softly

He knew she was approaching, even stepping lightly he could hear the individual grain of sand move. When she spoke he looked up, but not at her, a silent tear ran down his face,"are they safe?"
He said in an unwavering voice trying to mimic his other side, he just lowered his head into his forelegs and sighed.
