Cookie thought about it and blanched when she realized she didn't know. After a moment, however, the answer came to her. "Makes stuff go boom."
Lam snickered, "Cookie, that's not his specialty. He does that by accident." The tot just shrugged at her - what was the difference?
Leaning into the patting, the girl began to purr again. Her mother smiled. "She has that affect on people."

"I'm pretty good at that myself," Howl said. He was imagining the magical fireworks he liked to set off every May Day for Michael's birthday. Then he nodded at Lam. "If he ever needs someone to teach him, I'd be happy to take on an apprentice."
He patted Cookie again. "I've always liked cats," he mused. The quills were all but forgotten. He was happy to have come, simply to see the toddler. Her collar might have had something to do with it.

"House 'ust'e messy." Cookie commented, flubbing the words a bit but trying to establish a proper conversation with him.
Lam laughed, "Varian's problem seems to be he's better at bigger magic than smaller actually - and he really doesn't like to be told not to do it."
