He felt her put her arm around his and he looked down at her, smiling softly. Her words really just made him worry for her more. If she was anything like him, she could get in a lot of trouble trying to protect people. Of course, she was strong, in a way Tony couldn't understand or begin to try and estimate, but that didn't mean she could handle everything.
He shook his head ever so slightly, wondering if other people found themselves in situations like these. Wanting to protect someone who, in turn, wanted to protect them. It wasn't the worst situation, though they both seemed to get into trouble quite a lot. Maybe they were already slated to keep helping each other.
Though, Tony didn't consider jumping on a monster's back much help. Still, he did what he could.
"I'm sorry," he said, when she admitted that she was scared and couldn't tell anyone. "You know, if there's anything you feel you can't tell others, you can always come to me. I'm a good listener, I'm told."
He shuddered a bit when she told him bad things were happening. With monsters like that running around, he could hardly disbelieve the statement. It was probably just one more thing he couldn't truly fathom.
"I won't be scared. And I don't want you to be, either. Whatever happens, at least believe in yourself, and that will get you through. And of course, I'll do whatever I can to help you."

"It will only put you in danger," she said. She didn't mean it to be discouraging, even if it was; she didn't tell her parents what was up so the Negaverse wouldn't get to them. And she was very lucky to not have to protect a roommate from her senshi identity (instead she just had to protect the roommate from everything else: much easier all around, really). "Thank you."
Her heels scuffed a little on the ground. They really were impractical footwear for fighting monsters; they were loud and sometimes a little hard to balance in, even if she suspected there was a certain kind of senshi magic relating to balance and ability to not twist your ankles one hundred and eighty degrees. This seemed like a good topic to distract Mr. Darrow with; that way he couldn't worry about her too much. "I think it's kind of silly," she said, "that we're soldiers without armor. What if somebody twisted their ankle running in high heels?" She pouted. "Boy senshi don't have high heels. They get boots. I think that's unfair."

"Well, I think boy soldiers running around in high heels wouldn't really strike fear in the hearts of enemies," he laughed, looking at her. Of course, little girls in high heels didn't, either, but he wasn't going to say that. He already saw what she could do to a youma with those shoes, after all.
Like stomping its head in.
"I hope you don't twist your ankle trying to run in those things. I've never understood how you ladies can even walk, let alone run. I like my feet flat on the floor, thank you."
Maybe he needed the distraction, since he gave in so readily to the change of topic, even though it was frivolous. His shoulder was killing him, as was his head, and he felt like just going to sleep.

She tilted her head. "I think it would be cute," she said, brightly. Possibly too brightly, but hopefully he wouldn't notice. "Everyone says I'm cute." The bluenette leaned back a little, contemplating the moon. Because of the streetlights, she couldn't see the stars; that was a shame, because she liked looking for Virgo. She thought as long as her constellation was there, she would be, too.
A more interesting topic: Why did Gemini Alpha have a skirt?
"My brother has little heels!" She lifted one hand, the distance between thumb and forefinger possibly meant to denote how high her brother's heels were. "Cas has spats." Senshi footgear was an important subject, darn right!
Behind her, starseeds chimed. They had not seen any unconscious bodies. Instead of dwelling on it, she forced her smile to stay put and said, "I think there's some kind of senshi magic that keeps us from twisting our ankles." This brilliant theory posited, she tugged a little on Tony's sleeve and pointed up ahead. "Isn't that where you live?"

Tony, surprised by the news that her brother had heels, chuckled when she showed him how high they were. He shook his head, suddenly aware of the way his feet were falling as he walked. Flat. Just the way he liked it. He couldn't imagine doing anything with his heel off the floor, and didn't want to try.
Tony heard the starseeds and ignored them, nodding slowly when she mentioned magic.
"Well, that's good. That senshi magic has to come in handy sometimes, huh? Picking things up that should be way too heavy... all that fighting. What else can it do?"
He stopped his questioning before it started, though, looking at the apartment complex up ahead.
"That it is," he said, very glad to see the shabby building. He just needed a nap, and to get some ice on his shoulder. That would be good. "I'm sorry to have distracted you from your rounds twice now, just so you could walk me home."

"It makes us fast," she was saying, "and strong. We heal faster." Virgo looked up at Tony, a guilty look in her eyes. Poor Tony was stuck like that until his human body made up for it.
At his apology, she shook her head so hard that her circlet fell down over her eyes. She gave a startled little 'ow' as the two circles clinked together. "It wasn't a distraction," she said, her tone edging on fierce as she impatiently shoved the bits of bronze back up onto her forehead. "You're my favorite librarian, I don't like that Miss Carol at all. So it's not any problem to help you, okay? Okay!"
This time, she walked him to the door of the building; after a brief moment of thoughtful staring, she offered him his briefcase. "You should call somebody," she said, "and make sure to go to the doctor--and make sure someone knows you're all right, Mr. Darrow, because you hit your head really hard--" on her head but still it wasn't like her head was not also hard "--and I heard sometimes that can give you a concussion."
She inhaled and adjusted her circlet again. "Okay?"

Anthony watched as she struggled with the circlet, moving to help her adjust it so it might stay on her head now. He took his briefcase, nodding a thank you, and laughed at her concern. He knew very well that he had hit his head on her head, so if anything she should be in the same state as him. Or worse, since he was fairly sure his head was particularly hard.
"I'll be fine, thank you for the concern," he said. Maybe Booder would keep an eye on him. Other than that, he didn't know who else he could call. Edward? Unlikely. The two were friends, but they had a silent kind of pact that limited their interaction to those lunches each month.
Caro- no. Not Carol.
But he offered her a smile in an effort to be reassuring. She didn't need to know that he had no real acquaintances who might call him to make sure he hadn't died. He was sure he hadn't gotten a concussion, anyway.
"Take care of yourself. I'm sorry about tonight. About..." those dead people, he finished in his head.

She stared at him for a long, long moment with narrowed eyes and a pout. Then she stood on her tiptoes to tug (very, very gently) at a lock of his hair, like one might do for an older brother. "You better be fine," she said; the tone made her sound like a little kid. "Or I'll be mad and I will get the Captain and she will lecture you. Or maybe she won't, I do not know. She might, if I ask."
Like last time, she gingerly hugged Tony then sprang back, flushed bright red. "It isn't your fault," she said, scuffing her heels on the ground. "Please have good dreams, okay? I will see you at the library the day after tomorrow..."
The senshi didn't wait for an answer. She turned on one ridiculous heel and beat feet, presumably off to look for the bodies of the youma's victims.
