x x x@An Honest M I A; Thank you very much! As for historical accuracy, well, you're talking to a perfectionist here. That's a costume that will probably never be done - I intend to re-do the trim and add epaulets next.

GIPPAL PROGRESS:
Urghhhh. As soon as I can I'm heading to Jo-Ann to get fabric - I've decided to use vinyl for the shoulders, boot covers, and pants. It's the closest I can get to the leather-looking stuff he's got going on.
(I refuse to use pleather. REFUSEEEEEEE.)

x x xMy quest is advancing! With a little help from my new job at Jo-Ann Fabrics. XD
The boot covers have begun. Here's the test version, using leftover felt. They need more space at the heel, and obviously I didn't put a zipper in the test. They're several inches taller than the boots themselves and go to just below my kneecap.
I also succeeding in snagging a whole yard of faux fur for Thorfinn from the remnants box after my shift yesterday - at half-price! The color isn't really accurate, but faux fur is so ridiculously expensive that I couldn't help but jump at the chance.
Look at it!
I've also been grabbing black vinyl remnants (1.9 yds total), as well as a .7 yd red one yesterday. The red is in case I can't find the proper shade of whatever that color is. But the black... huhuhu. So far, I've spent like $12 on Gippal. Total. No lie. That includes the (slightly inaccurate, but suitable) fabric for the shirt. It's more gray that I'd like, and the ribbing is very thinly spaced.x x x

but here he is, Thorfinn v. 0.8! I don't have many in-progress pictures, as the whole thing was done in a week. Yes. A single week.
