"Oh." Ask reached out to splash some water at the ducks to see what they'd do. They were completely unfazed. Lame. Ask pouted at their non-reaction. "I wouldn't want to eat a horse. That'd be weird. Why are 'spressions' so weird? Are they all so weird? Can we be friends?"
Ask was amazed at how much Hayden seemingly knew. He hoped he knew that much when he was his age. Ask wasn't one to beat around a bush when he could say what he was thinking with minimal words. It didn't particularly matter to him if the subjects of the oddity of expressions and being friends were much related.

"I 'unno, Mom said s'cause they're old. So old people must be weird 'cause they musta come up with 'um." Hayden nodded, never once thinking that his logic could be wrong. "Sure we can b'friends, yer pretty cool." He grinned widely, adopting a sort of devilish look. "I bet'cha I can make 'em scatter, wanna see?"

Ask nodded and smiled. "Ok!" He was very pleased to be 'cool' and to have another friend was great thus far. He watched closely to see what the older boy would do to make the lame ducks scatter.

Hayden smirked and then reached up to twist the green part of his headphones as if he were raising the volume on a speaker. He then stepped back a little, preparing himself before he stomped one foot on the ground.
Normally, that wouldn't have much effect, if any at all, but this was different. When Hayden's foot connected with the ground, a series of deep vibrations shot out along with a deep rumbling sound, mostly directed at the ducks. The water rippled violently, and when the vibrations finally reached the ducks, the whole flock took to the air with quacks of alarm.
"Hahaa! See!" He laughed, shaking his head as he watched them all fly away.

Ask watched Hayden make the ducks take wing and felt that sense of deja vu again. He grinned up at Haden, "That was awesome." but he didn't seem surprised. Then he started following the flying ducks with his eyes to see where they went.
"Do you think we could put Cleopatra on the water now? Maybe if we tied something to her?"

"S'pretty fun to make 'um fly away like that." Hayden grinned, nodding a little. It was clearer then that the ducks probably hadn't want to eat the bread because Hayden had scared them off like that before... if not more than once.
"I think it shuud be good if y'tie a string 'round 'er." He nodded again, looking around for a string. "I dun got one, though..." Hayden frowned a bit with a shrug.

Ask looked around for string too. His own shoes were velcro so he peered at Hayden's feet. "You have shoelaces! Can we use them?" He was very impressed, Hayden probably even knew how to tie the shoe laces.

Hayden looked down at his feet, he had to admit, his laces were pretty cool and they'd make for a nice duck leash. "Yeah, we can use 'um." He plopped down and pulled his shoes off and started to untie them. After a few moments he had them both de-laced. "Gimme Cleopatra, 'kay? Imma make a leash for 'er." He grinned, holding out one hand for Cleopatra to be placed into.

"K!" Ask put his treasured duck into Hayden's hands trustingly. He crouched to watch the leash being made and tied around the duck's neck. "Thanks for letting us use your laces." He wiggled in anticipation of the duck setting sail.

"Yer welcome." Hayden grinned, securely tying one lace to Cleopatra, and then the second lace to the first one before he slid his shoes back on his feet. "Ready?" He offered the end of the newly created leash to Ask and set Cleopatra down on the water.

Ask was delighted that Cleopatra couldn't get away anymore but was still allowed to float. The simple pleasure of watching her navigate the ripples of the pond kept him rather entertained.

Watching Cleopatra was fun for the first few minutes, but it soon grew boring, so Hayden looked around for something more interesting to do. "Hey, wanna play pirates on the playground?" He grinned widely, playing pirates was quite fun... Surely it'd be more fun than watching a rubber duck float on a pond...

Ask looked up from watching Cleopatra float on the water. "Ok, how do you play pirates?" He started pulling Cleopatra back towards him and concentrated on the knots of Hayden's shoe laces. He'd just gotten the knot from around Cleopatra's neck undone when Shiny came over with a water bottle. Ask put Cleopatra down by his foot to keep her from being obvious.
"Hey boys, Ask you need to drink some water." She said as she handed the water to him and watched him drink some. "Hello, I'm Shiny, Ask's mother. What's your name?" Shiny asked Hayden. She was a laid back person and wasn't worried about Ask talking to a stranger.

"We go take over th'playground 'n then go pillage the little kid playground." Hayden replied simply. He wasn't entirely sure how to explain a pretend game, but the explanation worked fine for him. He looked up as Shiny approached right as he was beginning to put the laces back in his shoes. "M'Hayden." He replied before looking back to his shoes with an expression of extreme concentration. He'd just recently learned to tie them himself, so it was still a little hard.

"Nice to meet you Hayden. Are you having fun Ask?" Shiny asked and let Hayden concentrate on his shoe laces.
Ask nodded and smiled happily. "We're going to go play pirates on the playground."
"Alright then, you'd better take your water bottle with you. Hayden do you need help with your shoe laces?" she asked while handing the water bottle to Ask. There was an adjustable strap attached to the bottle and he put it on like a sash, the loop over one shoulder and the straps across his back and chest so that the bottle rested near his hip.
