Fila's heart went out to the cub. It must be so terrifying, she thought, to see those with such vibrant colors act in such an evil manner. Kafele would have a harder way in life than his siblings, most likely, for his colors and for what others would say because of them. But he would do fine, Fila was sure.
Fila grinned back at the cub. "Who said anything about fairness? Many fights aren't fair. That doesn't mean you can't win them." She knew he would try. She recognized that spark of mischief in his expression, and he reminded her so much of herself that she nearly laughed. When she was young, she was the prankster of her litter. Kudha was caught up in responsibility, even as a cub, and Amira was always wanting attention. It was Fila who had joyfully terrorized her siblings, but...after Elanira's death and their family was torn apart, Fila had lost that part of herself to her grief. It was nice to see the embodiment of that same spirit in her nephew.
When Kafele jumped, Fila rolled onto her back and caught him in midair with all four of her paws. Laughing, Fila pulled him close to her. "You did well! We're done for the day, young one." Fila was proud of Kafele. He had tried his best for her, and he had worked hard. He showed great potential. Fila looked forward to training him as he grew older. Perhaps, when he was older, he would fight at her side against Sahen, to remove him from power so he could no longer kill and cause pain.

Kafele expected to be punched down or at the very least to fall on top of aunt Fila if she rolled to the side. He did not expect to be caught midair, four paws dangling in the air until lioness pulled him closer. His (rather loud) surprise turned into proud composure as his aunt praised him. The red cub rubbed his head under Fila’s chin, a soft purr accompanying his words.
“So I did good? Really?” he pawed very gently at his aunt’s muzzle, a blissful smile lighting his whole expression. Even his eyes were shining brighter. It was easier for Kafele to show the softness that he reserved for the female figures in his life, usually hidden behind the boisterous nature when it was only him and his aunt – no siblings or playmates to make fun of him this way.
“So we’re going back?” Not that he was tired of course.

A soft smile warmed Fila's face. "Yes, young one, you did well." Fila snuggled him a bit closer, maternal instincts kicking in. She knew that it was unlikely that she would ever bear a litter of cubs. She was too gruff, too much of a warrior. But...she couldn't deny the wistful longing she felt, the twinge of envy for her sister. Fila had long since decided to love her niece and nephews as if they were her own brood.
"Yes, Kafe. We're going to head back home. I think I've worked you hard enough," she said with a grin. Fila rolled to her feet, gently nudging Kafele to the ground. "I think you will grow up to be a fine warrior one day, if you keep training."
Fila was glad that she had been given some time to train her nephew. He showed much promise, and it wasn't often that Fila got to spend time with her sister's cubs on a one-on-one basis.

“I’ll make you proud, you’ll see!” the cub said with a grin as his paws touched the ground. He suppressed a yawn and started walking back home, very much glad that aunt Fila wasn’t asking him to run again. He had a feeling that the next day involved some serious soreness so he was fully determined to take the longest nap possible as soon as he got home. Well, after telling all about his training with aunt Fila to mom, of course. And showing it to Azu. And Livi and Dada. And uncle Kudha unless he was too busy. And maybe some of the kids who lived nearby.
Or maybe he’d just sleep. Probably. Yeah.
