There was a version of Mafia I once played that was interesting.
We called it "Siamese Mafia," because everyone had a partner that died when they died. Because two people were gone with every killing, the game went much quicker, but...
The rules went like a normal game of mafia, except that each participant chose a partner once everyone had received their roles. They were allowed to privately alert each other to their specific roles, but not to which side they belonged.
The god/facilitator would only contact the Mafia for killings as usual, so pairs that consisted of one Mafia and one villager would remain looking as though both were villagers.
Each pair only counted as one vote during lynchings, and the two would have to agree on something before their vote would be cast.
The biggest impact of this game is that betrayals are much more devastating. If you find out that your partner is a mafia member, then you've got to decide if you want to alert others to it and make the sacrifice or if you want to keep playing and aid others in the search for the rest.
One drawback is that as the population decreases, people begin to notice those pairs that are left and mafia members become more obvious than ever. That, and a mafia like this needs twice as many people to really get going.
One of you can go ahead and try that if you're up for it.

Not sure how the TWEWY Mafia went, but you probably assigned partners for them. This one tends to be pretty bittersweet because you pick your partners. And pairings are public, for everyone to know.
I'd actually participate in a game like this. But you'd never find me lording over any of these, because I make a terrible facilitator. xd

Great Gatsby Mafia

So I was looking for the Suggestion Box to say that maybe we should get on running some more mafias because we do have members who just do that that haven't been around lately and we don't want to lose them. But then whilst looking for the suggestion box I stumbled across LPS sign-up thread she made today, so my suggestion is kind of pointless. But I was feeling focused so I posted here anyway.

Though I do have something of a suggestion, LPS maybe you should send out an announcement about the sign-up because like I said I stumbled across it, thus I'm sure a ton of people missed it. Especially people who only come for mafia games and thus probably haven't been around in awhile.

I had another more general suggestion...but I can't remember it. *shrugs* It was probably something stupid.

Edit: Admittedly, now a few people have signed up but I think they may have seen this post. But still people like Sora, Maru, Steff, others who might be slipping my mind.

It's not related to the Mafia games, but can we move the Pokemon thread back into the Rec Room? That thread was at least more active than most threads, more than a couple posts every day or so, but it's pretty much dead now.
Barely anyone ventures into the Gamering thing thread.
