Calintha was very confused by her statement. She wasn't one of them, but she was one of them? Apparently, originally Tara had meant something else, and had instead realized what Calintha had meant in the first place. She blinked a few times before listening to the rest of what the girl had to stay.

"Nice to meet you." She gave a small smile. Tara seemed to be a little spacey currently, but it was a given considering the subject. Organ rings and girls in coma's were not necessarily pleasant topics of conversation. "I visit her every now and again, at least every other week now I think. I...didn't ever know her very well I guess. I was just trying to put everything behind me, and I figured visiting her would help."

She avoided saying the words 'school'. Calintha wasn't sure what Tara thought about the drug ring story, and she didn't particularly want to push it. You never knew what other people thought, after all.

"I'm sure she's happy too." Not that the blonde girl actually knew. It was just what people said sometimes, you know? Covering up the sad truth with something more respectable for everyday conversation. "How well do you know Laney?" She'd almost slipped and asked the other girl how she had known Laney, remembering at the last second that the girl was actually alive still, regardless of mental status.

Every other week, while not as often as Tara visited, was still more than she expected. It made her wonder how many other visitors Laney had that she didn't know about. It was silly and depressing to think of herself as the only one, but she wasn't sure what to think of other people visiting. On the one hand, she was sure that Laney would be pleased by the company. On the other hand, the fact that she needed to be visited at all, and possibly couldn't even tell that people were there, caring about her, waiting for her-

Tara quickly turned around and wiped her eyes, which hadn't started to water. Even though she felt like crying, even though she thought she should be crying, she wasn't. Still, wiping her eyes made her feel a little bit better.

"Sorry. Um." Her traitorous voice didn't even waver. It was like she didn't even care, when that was as far from the case as Pluto was from the sun. Time for a change of tactics. "About the plant. Should I just leave it at home, or... I mean, would it hurt if I brought it to school sometimes, as long as I bring it back with me?"

Lucky for Tara, Calintha was mostly oblivious about that kind've stuff. She didn't really really catch the other girl wiping her eyes, but it crossed her mind that the motion seemed odd. She brushed it off though, seeing as it didn't particularly matter to her so much. It did feel good to hear that other BP survivors were visiting Laney. It made the blonde girl feel less alone in her efforts to appease the suffering girl (was she suffering? The girl had never been in a coma, so she couldn't know for sure. Perhaps it was like purgatory).

"Its okay for it to be here short term. A day or two yea, but it needs some fresh sunlight and air to be truly healthy." She gave the other girl a small smile. At least she seemed enthusiastic about keeping her plant alive and happy, which earned definite points in her book. Those who loved plants were good in her book.

Tara nodded, absently stroking a leaf of the aloe. She still felt bad, both about her unintentional plant abuse and her seeming apathy over Laney. It was days like this that made her feel like she couldn't do anything right, and sometimes even made her wonder why she bothered trying.

Calintha's advice was helpful, but her smile went farther towards restoring Tara's good humor. "I'll be more careful from now on, I promise." At least, she would as long as she remembered to be. "You're really good at this stuff, I have to say. Can I see your plants sometime? I don't think I've got it in me to be a full-fledged gardener like you, but I've wanted to run some experiments on various types of flora... if that's cool with you, I mean."

She smiled before reaching around into her backpack and fishing around for something. It wasn't long before she fished out a little piece of card stock. It was black with white printing, a simple design with the girls name and contact info laid out upon it. A business card, the efforts of one of countless sleepless nights turned into something productive. It had taken her a while to figure it out, but the 24-hour copy shop guy was so bored that he helped her through it. A small blush hit her cheeks before handing it over to Tara. She was still embarrassed to give them out.

"Here, shoot me an email sometime." She wasn't sure she liked the sound of experimentation, but depending on what Tara wanted to do, Calintha would probably be game. "Some of my plants are too delicate to withstand much change, but I'm sure a few others might interest you." In other words, there was no way the girl was getting near her carnivorous plants. They were too precious and too expensive to be tampered with. Like the other girl had mentioned- she was a full fledged gardener, through and through.

She looked outside the window, noting that it had to be getting late. "I should really get going though, I'll see you later?" And with that the blonde turned and walked down the hallway, moving for the side door. After a few locker sections had past, she turned and waved.

It was good to know the other survivors were adjusting well. It was good to know others were visiting Laney. It was good to know Tara wouldn't be imprisoning her plant in her locker anymore. Today was a fairly good day, all in all.

She even had business cards. Calintha might as well have flashed a badge reading OFFICIAL GARDENING EXPERT. Tara's eyes lit up as she took the card and examined it, flipping it over, admiring the font, and finally tucking it into her notebook. "So cool," she said, already excited. This would be so great for both of them.

"Thanks again for all your help. And for the card! I'll send you a list of ideas." Some of Tara's theoretical experiments were more feasible than others. Calintha might not mind her testing the pH of different plants, but she probably wouldn't take as kindly to trying to plant them in simulation moonrock. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask, and ask she would.

Carefully easing the plant out of the locker, Tara watched Calintha walk down the hallway before shutting the door and locking it. It hadn't been a great day, all things considered... but it looked like the future was bright.
