"That's why they don't say anything about it," she replied with a smirk. "They trust in dragon's abilities to choose, weyr-raised or otherwise." Draith shifted slightly under her, and she had to stop scrubbing in an effort to keep her balance. Once he settled again, she set back to work, focusing mostly on his joints.
"It doesn't help that he's cranky today," she said with a slight smile. "It's really situational - don't take any offense to it." She paused a moment and turned to look over at Mercy. "that's a shame... Though pretty typical. I hadn't either, between arriving and the hatching. I don't think weyrbrats do though, so even if you might think they have a leg up in that sense... they don't~"

"And you can't very well argue with a dragon choice" Mercy agreed with a smile, as she understood it the beasts just had an innate sense about who to choose. It was a rather difficult concept to grasp but she assumed sh would understand better when..and if..she impressed herself. That seemed to the way of it here at the weyr. There were just some things you couldn't understand if you weren't a dragonrider yourself.
"It's fine" She told the other "I'm sure he has his reasons" She continued with a glance at the seemingly dozing dragon. "They seem to think throwing us into work will keep us occupied and out of trouble until the hatching starts, I have to admit it works pretty well theres not many hours left at the end of the day for mischief after all the work is completed"
