Though she tried her best to watch the water with him, her eyes kept wandering back over to him. Of course this was done out of the corner of her eyes because she didn't want to get caught. His physic was total eye candy for her... she knew he had been working out... just knew it. He totally looked a lot better than most of the Spartan guys she had seen.
Just then, she caught a glimpse of the shadow as well and hopped up, leaning over the edge of the boat with excitement! "YAY! FISH!" she exclaimed. Her eyes went starry as she watched Drake get ready to spear the mysterious creature looming under the water's surface.
She let out an excited cheer as he hit his mark! What the hunter he was! "You did it Dr....!" she stopped as she caught sight of his face... his expression was not a good one. Turning her head back towards the water, all the color from her face drained as she saw the monstrous fish.
"Hurry Drake! Let go!" her voice shouted to him in a panic!.. but it was too late... he had just been yanked into the water by the giant fish. "s**t!" En gave a quick shout "CAPTAIN! Hold the ship!" Quickly she shed her armor and without giving it a second thought she dove into the water after him. The water hit her like she smacked right into a brick wall. DAMN it was cold! She swam to the surface, gasping for air and shivering. She shook out her head and took a dive back under the water as she desperately tried to find Drake.

As the water rushed around Drake's face once he was plunged and dragged under the surface of the cold water; he tried to keep himself from gasping as the speed caught and parted his fur enough to sink between the intertwined feathers and reach the warm down. It chilled him immediately as his eyes opened to see the swordfish taking off; knowing this fish would drag him for hours if he didn't do something quick.
Curling his body forward as he hugged his arms to his stomach to create as much resistance he could; he began to grab the rope and pull himself close and closer as she swordfish swung around and began to swim back towards the boat. Once reaching to the intence wake behind the fish he thrust his free paw to sink his claws into the swordfish and climb against its flank.
Snaking his arms around the fish and wrapping his legs tightly around its tail he managed to cease the movement of the fish as they floated with a grin of triumph....that was.....till he realized if he let go the fish would swim away. Likewise, Drake had no way to get to the surface as well. Frowning as he could feel the burning of his lungs from the lack of ******** my life... He thought with irritable bitterness.

The frigid water stung like a million needles all over En's body as she swam through the water in search of Drake. Her eyes burned too from the sting of the salt from the ocean water in them, but even though her vision was semi-blurry she knew she couldn't give up searching for him.
As her lungs began to hurt from the need to breath she returned to the surface, gasping and sputtering once more. Her watery eyes searched the water's surface for any sign of him. Nothing... nothing... NOTHING! Panic began to set in as she knew his oxygen was running low. Taking another deep breath she dove back under, this time it didn't feel as horrid.. her body was either getting used to the cold water or her body temperature was dropping low... either way she just wanted to find him.
Her burning eyes searched around once more as she swam through the water, then.. THERE HE IS! ... clinging to the fish? she thought to herself, but shrugged it off, just glad to have found him. Quickly she swam over to him, taking notice of his situation a bit more. After noticing that the rope was the reason he was trapped En grabbed onto it. She tore into it with her teeth, severing it. Turning to Drake she shook his shoulder making sure he was still okay. She was more worried about him than anything.

Sensing a disturbance in the water that wasn't from him or the fish's thrashing; his head turned and cursed his misfortune if it was an opportunistic shark...but luckily (and he surely thanked the higher powers) to see the beautiful En swim her way over. He couldn't help the grin which stretched the entirety of his beak; knowing full well if he didn't think it before that she was just like an angel - sent to rescue him.
Watching as he was freed from the rope; yet as he continued to hold onto the swordfish he came to the realization that why waste a perfectly good fish? Least he wanted to try fishing again which well....he definately wasn't feeling up to the thought of that.
Feeling his cheeks turn from yellow to hints of red, he tried to motion for her to either try and snap the fish's neck or if she luckily had a knife to do so while he kept a tight hold.

Confused by Drake still clinging to the fish, En tugged on him slightly, trying to signal him to let go since he wouldn't be dragged away. It took her a moment or two to figure out what in the world he was doing. AHHAH! I get it now! she thought as she got it. Quickly she made he way to the underbelly of the fish and grabbed onto its head. She firmly planted her feet on its stomach and wrenched it's head to the side with all her might, nearly snapping its head clean off.
She only felt pride for a moment before she couldn't hold her breath any longer. The air escaped from her lungs and out her mouth, bubbling up towards the surface. She let go of the fish as her arms flailed, desperately she tried to reach the surface before she passed out. En began feeling nothing but despair as her body grew heavy and her legs grew tired. Now she didn't have the strength to make it to the surface. Her mind raced for any last moment thoughts, then it hit her.. something she tried in training. Sprawling out, her back towards the ocean floor and her belly towards the surface, she hoped that she would float upwards. Luckily for her it was working and she began to float up... she only hoped it wouldn't take too long.
After what seemed to take forever to reach the surface of the water she gasped for air. En started to flip herself over, but decided that she would rather just float on her back. Her weak eyes closed and her mind wandered to Drake before she passed out.

Feeling a sigh of mental relief as she seemed to get the picture and quite easily snapped the neck of the large fish; he finally allowed himself to let go and free his arm of the remaining rope. Being a partial bird he had a greater lung span than most creatures he knew and could survive under the water for longer periods. However, as he grabbed the fish and turned to motion for her to surface his heart raced when he realized she was no where in sight.
Looking up however gave him a little relief as he saw her break the surface. Thank god... He thought...but then noticed she'd stopped moving. Immediately fearing the worse he booked it to the surface and let the fish corpse float in the water for a few moments as he grabbed onto her to keep her head above water. "En...EN! Speak to me!" Drake patted her cheek a few times in dismay that her eyes didn't open, but at least she was still breathing. Waving the boat over to them, he was quickly greeted by the captain and the first mate as they team efforted to heave the armor clad vixen onto the ship; followed quickly by the swordfish as Drake wasted not a moment after getting onto the ship himself to scramble to her.
She was cold, breathing, but cold. "Dammit En, don't do this to me!" He growled, looking up to the crew. "Quick, I need a blanket, and a bowl of hot water with a cloth!" He ordered and quickly slipped her out of the armor till she was in her under suit. Picking her off the wet floor of the ship he huddled her into his lap on the bench and hugged her close to try and get some heat back into the poor thing. As the captain and first mate returned with the blanket and water he wrapped them both into the blanket and began to stroke the warm cloth across her face. "En....En come on, wake up..." Drake pleaded, nibbling his beak along the bridge of her snout.

En felt as if she were in some sort of limbo... there but not. She could feel the freezing water lapping against her body. She could feel Drake touching her, trying to bring her back around. Oh how she wanted to open her eyes, but they were so heavy, her body was so heavy, and she was so tired... so cold. The thing that helped her hold on most was the worry in Drake's voice. She didn't want to make him worry.
Time felt like it was standing still, crawling on, and rushing by all at the same time. The cold began to feel warmer and warmer, which she knew that meant her body temperature had dropped dramatically. Her senses were fading more and more to the point of not being able to even feeling Drake's touch. Then, her world faded to complete black.
What felt like a lifetime later, she began to feel a new kind of warmth bringing her out of the frozen dark. Where was it coming from? Who was the voice that seemed so distant yet so close? Her eye tried to open, but they just hurt too much and were still too heavy. She tried to open her mouth to speak, but she couldn't find her words.

Watching intently for any signs that she was going to be okay, he was about to lose him mind when he saw that her lips had parted gently to speak...but nothing came. That simple stir told him all he needed to know as he used a paw to comb her wet hair out of her face. "Shhhh, it's alright now. Rest...you're safe." He spoke gently into her ear as he continued to hug her body close; making sure her head was comfortable on his shoulder.
"Drake....we have'ta get going if your misses is alright?" The captain said in concern, as Drake nodded. "That's fine buddy, thanks you two." He smiled gratefully, watching as the pair disappeared back to the captain's roost as the boat tugged back to speed once again. Thankfully he did chose a seat behind the wall of the main quarters and the wind wasn't so rough against the pair.
Moving across the coast, Drake made sure to keep her secure under the blanket and the warmth kept in that cocoon; occasionally running that cloth along her face until the water had become cold and he abandoned it on the floor. Rubbing her arm gently to rouse her circulation back into its proper tempo thanks to the frigid waters.

As she started to warm up a bit more her eyes finally managed to flutter open ever so slightly. She could make out a blurred shadow of Drake hovering over her protectively. A small smile managed to peak at the corners of her mouth as she closed her eyes again. "H-hey handsome." Weakly her paw reaches up to his cheek and rests on it gently. "My.. hero..."
She groaned at some pain that snuck up on her. "Damn.... What happened?" Her arm flopped back on her head and she cringed. "I feel like I got hit by a Gravity Hammer or something." Snuggling closer to Drake and burying her head into his chest she let out a long sigh.
"Sorry for being so much trouble. I guess I'm not much of a Spartan after all huh?" Her eyes teared up and she let out a nervous laugh, now wondering what her father and grandparents would say. She always felt like such a disappointment to her Spartan lineage, and now it was just like a slap in her ego to have to be saved now.
Trying to be strong she sat up only to regret it a moment later as a dizzy spell overpowered her and sent her falling backwards. Groaning once again, she just kept her eyes closed and shook her head at herself. Pushing herself not to be such a sour puss on their voyage she laughs "So you manage to save our fish? I'm in the mood.. for food~"

There was no describing what emotions ran through his eyes as he saw her coming to, losening his grip to allow her to move he beamed ear to ear. It wasn't until her paw touched his cheek that he leaned his head into the chilled but soft touch. "En....I'm so glad you're alright." It was truth, as finally some calmness came to his deep vocals.
"Close, frigid waters tend to feel along the lines of bricks, or hammers for those unequipt for it." Drake had to admit that he was impressed that she did such a thing for him, she could have froze, or drown....it took guts. Holding her close as her nibbled along the edge of her ears, Drake had to look down when he heard that laugh and how it clenched at his heart.
"Trouble? En....you saved MY life....I can't hold my breath forever....if you hadn't come along and freed me of the rope well...." He would have been a goner, he knew that much.... "It took the courage of no ordinary fox to jump into these kinds of waters to save me....other than an a** kicking, i've never seen such a dead on Spartan attribute. You may not share all the same ideals and what not, but that's what makes you En...and not just spartan number blah blah blah....and the world needs more soldiers with soul." Drake smiled reassuringly, making sure he was ready to help her if need be when she attempted to get up.
Gesturing a paw to the large swordfish sitting against the back of the deck, a grin crossed his beak as he let out a chuckle. "The monster is aboard, don't you worry."

An ever so small laugh came through as he fawned over her. "I'm too stubborn to leave you like that Drake..." She coughed a few times, her lungs still hurting from when she was holding her breath. Being a bit silly, in the way she always deals with pain and such "I'm happy that you're.. happy." She picked up on the relieved tone in his voice, which in turn helped her feel more relaxed... which was much needed.
Groaning, she bobbled her head side to side. "I would say so. When we get to your home.. I'm pass on more swimming if it's okay with you." Her ears flickered as he nibbled along them. "I can't taste very good right now." She ran her paw along his beak ever so slightly as she lets out a weak purr.
Her eyes teared up as he spoke to her, her heart racing. Clenching to him tightly she began to cry. The thought of losing Drake didn't hit her til he said that to her.... It really could have happened. Her body shook and shivered, and her teeth chattered. The thought of losing him was just way too much and it weighed so heavy on her heart. Then she had to remind herself.. He's still here with me.. it's okay.. and I'm still here with him. As he spoke to her she stared into his eyes, her vision was still slightly blurred, be it from the weak state she was in or the tears in her eyes. The words meant so much to her. "Thank you.. so much Drake. You don't know how much hearing that means to me." The corners of her mouth quivered as she returned a smile.
Finally, after what seemed like ages, she felt strong enough to sit up. Slowly and carefully she sat up, resting her paw on Drake's shoulder from some extra support. Her eyes followed the gesture and she managed to grin from ear to ear. "Oh baby.. that looks like some good eats already!" A rumbling from her stomach gurgled and it made her laugh.

Grinning himself, the penguin shook his head with a chuckle rumbling his throat. "Looks like I brought the right kind of woman on this trip with me then..." He winked playfully, hugging her tighter against his frame. Really, he was sure she would never have any idea how much his heart rejoiced that she had come with him, willingly for that matter. "Of course....I'll show you the mainland, but I will insist you join me in the hotsprings....I promise there is not one thing bad with them." It was almost the best part about the north....even though one couldn't get food out of them so he'd still have to brace the ocean for meals at times. Feeling his eyes roll back a little at the touch of his beak, he hadn't realized how nice it felt; and let out a small chuckle. "En...I eat fish. Of course you taste good."
With her tears and soulfull slinging to him, he made sure to hold her tight, rubbing her back gently. "Any time Pebble....the truth always comes easily and i'm glad it means such to you." It was true, he wasn't sure how it all would play out...but the fox had a feeling he was one of the lucky ones to at least know this devoted spitfire.
Helping her up as she finally regained her sea legs, he stood along side her and took her paw; leading her to the back of the boat with the swordfish. "It better be good, or else i'll be damn well pissed." It better taste like heaven, since the fish had nearly had some dire costs. Letting go of her paw he moved to one of the benches and lifted the seat, pulling out a de-boning knife before returning to the fish. Positioning it near a drain hole in the ship's rail; he began to slice the beat of a fish open and filleting its sides for some good feasting later.

"Oh thank god! Hot springs sound amazing!!!" she exclaimed happily, pushing the thoughts of anything else out of her mind. "I've never been to one! I can't wait for that now." Eyes glistened over with daydreams of warm, wonderful, relaxing hot springs. Oh the things she would see on their trip brought back all her excitement and practically wiped away the troubling, rocky start they had had. En was brought back to her reality at his comment. Laughs just poured out as she snuggled into him oh so close. "I guess it's a good thing I appeal to your appetite then!"
She felt so comforted in his arms, newly worked out of course. She still couldn't get over it and smiled ever so slightly at the thought. "Drake.. " a pause happened while she sniffled and rubbed her nose. "Tell me again why you call me 'Pebble'. I feel like you told me before, but I just can't remember." Her paws played in the feathers on his chest, a comforting and cat-like motion.
Taking his paw happily after he helped her up, En followed Drake, all smiles at the swordfish. "Poor b*****d didn't know what he was getting into went he took your bait did he?" The corners of her mouth turned down in a slight frown as he left go of her paw... she didn't want to let go, but she didn't say anything. Moving herself closer to him she was at least contented to watch him cut the damn thing up. En was very much looking forward to eating the troublesome fish.

"They are! I've yet to see anyone else who frequents them as much as I do, its just fantastic. Often or not you can sit there all evening and watch the northern lights." Grinning ear to ear he continued to fillet the swordfish, making sure there would be plenty for the four or them and possibly some to keep for the remainer of the trip. He couldn't help but feel happy that she was back to her excited nature, because in a way, it made him excited even though it was a trip he'd made for years now.
However, he froze during mid slice and looked back to her, a confused expression on his face. He couldn't have told her...could he? He couldn't remember doing so....but at the same time he really didn't want to release such information. "Pebbles are important to penguins, its a name of endearment, En." Drake gave a smile, and a convincing one at that. "Means you're important."
Returning to finish up with percision and skill that could only be learned of someone who'd been doing so for a long time, he took all the fillets and chunks of swordfish and set them to the side. Lifting the now skeletal remains of the fish he pondered doing anything more with the carcass but figured fish tail soup would take too long to get right on a ship and he didn't want to hail the beast any further. So he took hold of the sword and the tail and tossed the rest of him overboard before fetching the fillets.
"Come on...to the kitchen to fry his a**." Smirking in a devious manner, he motioned for En to follow as he had his arms full. Pushing the door open to the lower deck he descended the stairs and turned down the somewhat cramped corridor to the small kitchen; even though it would easily fit two people with some space.

"I can't wait to be all snuggly close with you in them. I here that they are quite romantic and watching the northern lights together.. well I can't imagine anything else I'd rather do." Which was actually quite a lie because she very much was beginning to want even more with him, but just felt awkward saying so. She was actually a bit surprised with herself for even saying what she did... especially considering the fact that she was more than likely going to have to take off her armor and undersuit.... naked snuggling... With that thought she shook her head and decided what would happen is what will happen and that was that!
When Drake paused and thought at her question she thought that she shouldn't have asked. "Oh! Okay." Her brow furrowed ever so slightly as she pondered on how the hell a tiny little pebble was so important, but at the same time she was glad that she was worth being called such. A small smile crept over her face, though she was still suspicious that something was wrong with what he said. Oh training.... "So should I give you a nickname then?~" she teased, picking out funny little names in her head that might get her in trouble if she actually said them.
She couldn't help but feel admiration for this fellow as he skillfully cut up their catch of the day.. maybe even their life. It looked like he had been doing it his entire life and she was proud to know someone who knew his way around many different things. "You're pretty amazing Drake." She whispered as she watched, not entirely sure if he would hear it or not.
As he started off after quickly gathering up the fillet, she followed on after him clumsily, wondering if she could help, but he was already down the stairs before she could even ask. "Oh Drake." She shook her head and laughed then just followed on after him. As she made her way down the hall after him, she kept bumping into the walls and such, feeling a bit annoyed at the tight space. "Are all boats so tiny like this?" she asked as she peered in through the doorway to the kitchen... a rather cramped one at that.
