"Now now, Calm down Princess, it's just a question." Kay sighed when she swore and huffed at him. He had a reason for it, he really did...but she wasn't quite giving him the chance to express it, now was she? No, no she was not. Sighing heavilly through his nose, Kay pressed his lips together, looking down at her. "Yeah, you failed...That's because you tried on your own, without any direction as to what to do." He reminded her, tilting his head down to nuzzle his nose against her soaking wet hair.
"I won't make you go under, but you have to let me teach you to keep your own head above the water. Just in case." Kay was strangely serious; it didn't happen often, but he was going to do his best to teach her just that. "It's really easy. If you promise to at least try this, you can call the stops for the rest of the day. Anything you want - within reason - we'll do. Deal?"

Something about Kay and the way he held her and spoke to her was comforting. It wasn't like one of those hugs a parent gave but it had a similar effect. She knew she could trust him- more so now than ever before. After all he could have let her sink and had no second thought. She sighed soflty. She really hated the thought of continuing to try but she supposed he did have a point.
"You won't make me go under?" It was something between a statement and a question. She was extremely pleased at that fact. "I guess I can try again..." she didn't say it because of his promise but more so because it was him. She stopped clinging to him so tightly after all they weren't going to accomplish anything if she didn't.
"anything...with in reason," she smirked and gave him a wink. "I'm going to hold you to it."

"I promise to keep your head above the water, but you have to try." He promised, and reiterated his conditions. "And yes, you can hold me to it. But you have to trust me...and you have to try." He repeated, again, just to make sure she understood. It would be obvious when she stopped trying, after all. Though he had only met her a handful of times now, he seemed to understand that when she stopped trying, she usually dropped her guard. Really dropped it.
"I'm gonna teach you how to tread water, Tori. Easiest way to keep yourself afloat. Okay, here's what you're gonna do...I'm Gonna hold your elbows, and for now you can hold my arms...and I'm going to put you out at arms length, okay?" While he talked her through what he was doing, he did it, gently easing her away from him but still holding onto her; he didn't want to get kicked!
"Good good, now, I want you to move your legs...kinda like you're running on the spot, but in more of a circle motion. Doesn't have to be fast or frantic, just slow, calm...methodical. Okay? Give it a shot."

"And, what exactly is suppose to happen when you decide to let go of me?" Victoria moved her legs like he instructed. Other than being extremely tired she still didn't feel like she was making any progress. But, at least she wasn't sinking.
Between everything she'd done today she was finding herself easily exhausted. She couldn't help but to stop every other couple of kicks. The more she had kicked the more she realized just how not in shape she was... And, to think one should be after everything her other instructor put her through.

"When I let go of you, you'll know how to tread water." Kay said matter-of-factly, settling to watch her through the water. Poor thing seemed so tired...but he was determined to teach her this, since she had freaked out so much earlier. After a while, he drew her in closer again, sliding one arm around her to hold her securely against his chest. It was both to give her legs a rest, and to teach her the next part.
"Okay, but on top of that, you gotta move your arms, too...like this." His free arm lifted, making a sort of horizontal wave with his arm above the water first, then submerging said arm to show how it moved under water. "Both of them have to move like this, all together, okay?"
He waited for her reply, then moved to hold onto her waist instead to keep her head above the water to start. "Now, you gotta do both at the same time, the legs AND the arms...remember, don't panic, I'm not going to let anything happen to you...but I am slowly going to let go, got it?"
Again he waited for her response, and as he told her, he slowly loosened his grip on his waist, gently guiding her from being held, to keeping herself steady, until he let go of her completely, hovering nearby just in case. "Y'okay, Tori?"

Victoria's feet where making more of a kicking motion, and her hands a clawing motion as she fought to keep her head above water.
It was a little harder to focus when you were doing it on your own. On top of all of that she had to manage to find a way to breath with all the water being splashed about.
After what seemed like forever to her, but was only a couple of minutes, she started to get the hang of it. It began to get easier and easier and she looked less and less awkward.

Kay chuckled at her little flailing, moving to lift his legs enough so that he had to tread water too. Might as well, right? Right. His treading was a lot more graceful than hers, and after a while he stopped, letting out a whooping cheer.
"Woo! 'Grats, Tori! Ya just learned howta tread water!" Beaming with Pride, he closed the distance again, sliding one arm behind her knees and the other against her back, lifting her up like a Princess. "Whelp, you win. Whattre we doin now then, eh?" He asked, holding her so she didn't need to swim at all anymore, lightly swaying from side to side.

Tori let out a delightful giggle. She knew she had accomplished something when Kay let out a 'whooping cheer' that was similar to the one when he had taught her to bowl. She, sadly, was not able to be as excited as him- she was far to tired. So she just smiled and held onto him. It was comforting to know this was over for now.
"I won," she whispered as she thought about what she wanted to do with Kay and the rest of the afternoon. "First things first we need to get out of this pool and into some dry clothes... Thankfully I brought a hair drier so I won't look to terrible."

"Pffft naaaaah, you could stop showering for a month and I'd still think you were pretty." He informed her with a loud laugh, walking with his Royal cargo back to the poolside. "But alright, we'll play your way, I did promise...soooo we get dressed, you pretty yourself up more..." The young man started, lifting her up to help her crawl out of the pool since some smaller kids were crowding the ladder now.
Once she was on the deck he released her, gripping the edge and hoisting himself out of the water as well, turning with a wet thud to sit on the edge, his feet still in the water. "Then what?" He asked, turning his head to grin at her.

Her cheeks turned pink from the compliments but it was hard to tell after the work out in the pool.
"I might still be pretty after a month of no showers, however, I doubt you'd come around... I'd smell pretty bad."
"That's for me to know and you to find out," she grinned and tapped him on the nose.
Though her legs were shaky she forced herself to stand up. "I'm going to go pretty much self up more," she giggled.

"Mmmmm....I don't see that stoppin' me." Kay mused with a chuckle; though he did very much like that she was worried about whether or not he would 'come around'. Heh, definite ego boost for an already proud young man. Her nose tap received a shrug and a grin, moving to stand up on the deck himself, shaking out his hair like a dog would shake out it's fur.
"Soooo I'll meetcha at the gates then?" Because he was sure she wouldn't want him helping her, and even if she did...well...it was probably against the rules for him to be in the girl's rooms anyway! With an amused grin and a wave, he wandered to the men's change rooms to get back into his cargo pants, then, eventually, the gate outside, as promised.

It took Tori half an hour to compose herself and even then she still wasn't completely together- but she looked good enough to be in public, certainly no worse than after dagger training.
As Tori walked towards the gates she was still messing with her hair- she was holding one of her daggers with her teeth. It took her, what she noted as forever, to get it under control. Other than that everything was in place even the bodice dagger that was often the hardest to conceal.
She shouldered a medium sized duffel bag.
"Alright I'm ready," she mumbled. "Have you ever ridden on a buss before?" After all of that the last thing she wanted to do was walk half an hour. Hell not even five mnutes.

Kay had been waiting rather impatiently. While he normally TRIED to be patient, he had a hard time just sitting still. It was the sitting still that always bothered him; he needed to be up and about. So after what he figured was forever (lapsed time: two minutes), he got up and started to pace. The only thing he had on him was a plastic bag with his shorts in it; he didn't even have a towel remotely near him! His pants were slightly wet (he'd used a stock towel for that at least), but the rest of his hair...was still rather drenched. It was drying off fast, though.
"Finally!" He said happily, stopping his pacing to face her, eyeing her dagger. "What's that for?" Kay asked curiously, but was soon enough distracted by her question. "I've been on a bus, yeah...but I don't really like them. Is it close? I could always carry you there." He'd been training...and he was pretty confident that he could take them both there, luggage and all!

"Close yes, but further than a care to walk," she said as she freed up her hands. "I'll just call a cab," she smiled. "More private anyways," she winked. She dug around in her bag (the bottomless pit) and found a cell phone. Never ever wanting to be stranded or without a means to get help- it was something she had recently acquired. She of course paid for it herself with what the cafe paid her. It only took her a second. She had her hands on her phone when suddenly it wrang. She held up a finger to tell Kay just a moment. After a brief moment she sighed. "I'm sorry Kay. I'm going to have to take a rain check..." Quote: For those that are just starting to read this or are already reading it... The Swimming Pool and the Melting Pot take place on two different days. She had arrived at the curio shop a couple minutes previous. Her cell phone was already in hand before Kay could even open the door. "Give them five," she told Kay shortly after he'd opened the door for her. After she put her phone up she looked down at her now free hands. Her mind drifted back to his original question. Did she really want to tell Kay any part of why she carried daggers? "I wasn't born with claws, fags, or a means to protect myself..." she decided to just quote her dad, "and, though I was born smart it isn't street smarts." She sighed softly. "Thus, I kow have a means." She decided it was just best to leave it alone of how the conversation between her dad and herself had actually come up though.

"But I said I'd ca---" He paused when she said it was going to be more private, he pondered it, then went quiet. While he didn't really like cars either, she seemed to insist...and it wasn't like anything could really happen, anyway.
When she answered his question, he thought it over as well. Though...he wasn't really born with any of those either! He looked at his hands; no claws. Then, upon picking at his rather pronounced eye teeth, realized that yeah, he was born with fangs at least...and a headsnake. And a boy. He was pretty powerful, and the new gashes in his side, the ones that seemed to have at least scabbed over enough to not need covering, proved that he could protect himself at least.
"That makes sense, well that's good thinking, you're very smart." He grinned at her, looking her over then looking at her bag, he reached over and took it without any sort of permission.
