A few years back the Outland Armour crew was flown out of the country to promote a video game that was very very steampunk. After speaking with the contact from the game company that sent them it's obvious that the gaming industry was not yet ready to dive head first into something as iffy to the public as Steampunk and the project was put on hold. Though through movies like Hell Boy, Stardust, and Sherlock Holmes (even Iron man to some degree) steampunk is SLOWLY becoming more commonly seen in western media. I shouldn't expect this to change much of anything.
After all
Steampunk is still a very misunderstood concept for the most part.

As far as Disney is concerned; I'm not sure if they can get a solid hold onto something as wide spread as steampunk. Even if they release things that are steampunk in style, I'm sure that it will only help us in defining who and what we are the general public.
The question really is...
Do we want the exposure? Do we want to be recognizable as something that is better understood? Do you think that because of the fact that it is Disney doing the exposure that the whole style will loose some of it's magic and be looked on by the public as lesser then if exposed by other means?
