"Yes, we're having dinner after this Gavin, we just have to wait for everyone to get cleaned up." Shiny responded, pleased that everyone was being good and she didn't have to resort to any unpleasantness. "Willow, hon, don't drop your muddy clothes on the floor go put them in your laundry basket." Shiny gathered all their little shoes and put them on the stoop outside to dry out and not shed dirt everywhere.
Ask was trying to pull his shoes off without undoing the velcro first and getting nowhere. He pouted at the shoes for thwarting him. He wanted dinner sooner rather then later. All the anxiety about this visit and then all the running around just made him all the hungrier. Finally he gave in and undid the velcro and pulled them off to hand them to Shiny so she could put them with the rest of the shoes.

Kei with a set of clothes and handed it to Ask. "These're for you. They're mine, so they're awesome." The logic was sound in his head anyway. "Just...don't get them dirty please." He added as an afterthought as he recalled how Ask hadn't minded running through the mud.
Willow turned up to look at her Aunt Shiny. "Nuh-uh. Mommy says muddy goes in laundry room." The first sentence she would ever speak to her aunt would be argumentative. She held out her clothes for Edmund to take.
Edmund set the rest of the clean clothes on a chair and took the dirty ones from Willow. "I'll take everyone's clothes to Mom." He looked at Willow, even without her muddy clothes she was still muddy. His brow furrowed and he set the muddy clothes on a towel before starting to get the mud off of her. "Uh...Gavin can you take the clothes to mom while I clean up Willow?"
Gavin nodded to Edmund as he finished taking off his shoes. He gathered up Willows clothes before standing in front of Ask waiting for his.

Ask promptly stripped and handed his clothes to Gavin. Then scrambled into Kei's clothes with a little help from Shiny. "Ok Kei." He agreed not to get them dirty because he wanted to be Kei's friend.
"Is that so Willow? Well that does make sense." She grabbed a rag from Sun's kitchen and held it under the water to get it damp. Then she went out into the foyer to help Edmund wipe mud off of Willow's face. "What else do you say to Kei, Ask?"
"Oh, thank you for the clothes Kei." Ask smiled at him then looked at Shiny for acknowledgement. She gave it to him with a nod.

Kei smiled at Ask in response. "No problem." He paused and then smiled again. "You're my friend so I don't mind sharing them with you." He rocked forward onto his toes and then back onto his heels. Suddenly his stomach rumbled audibly. Kei reached down and rubbed it lightly and began wondering how he could make dinner happen sooner. "I'll set the table!" He said as he made his way over to the drawer with the flatware. Sun had shown him how to set a place setting and he was pretty sure he remembered how.
"Uh huh." Willow turned her face for Aunt Shiny so she could get both sides with a rag. "Does." She beamed a little at Shiny. She liked being right about the house rules, it made Sun happy. As soon as she was no longer muddy, she pulled on her clean clothes and looked around wondering what was going to happen next.
Since Aunt Shiny was heading up the clean up Willow front, Edmund decided he'd look into dinner. Everything appeared to be done so he turned off the oven and the stove and stepped up on the step stool to start pulling plates out so Sun could dole out the food when she returned.
Gavin handed off all the muddy clothes to Sun. He stood there peering at her, waiting for her to unfocus on laundry a little so he could ask about dinner. "Hey Mom, I'm really hungry. We're eating now right?"
Sun turned to Gavin and smiled before reaching out and taking his hand. "Yes sweetie, we're going to eat right now. Don't you worry." Once she arrived into the kitchen Sun went into action as far as getting food on the table. She couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at seeing Edmund and Kei helping without being asked.

Shiny trooped in with Willow and Ask all clean and dressed. "Dinner looks good Sun. Thanks for your help Edmund and Kei. Ask you sit here." She said and picks Ask up to put him in a chair with a phonebook on it.
Ask settled in and looked thrilled that he got to sit next to Edmund. He waved to Kei and Gavin and Willow on the other side of the table and wiggled excitedly over food.
Shiny took the seat on the other side of him to help him with his food if he needed it.

Edmund settled in next to Ask after helping Sun with dinner. He turned to his Aunt and gave her a small pleased smile for noticing his help. "Ah...it was nothing." He put his napkin in his lap politely and waited for everyone else to get settled in with their food. It looked delicious and it took all his control not to reach for his fork and start shoveling it in.
Gavin settled into his chair happily. He smiled across the table at Ask and waved back when he waved. Then he focused on his plate. It really looked good, and he was starving after all that running around. He gave a sneaky glance one way and then the next before snatching a noodle off his plate and devouring it. He simply did not have Edmund's control, and besides, Edmund wasn't sneaky like him.
Just as Kei was finishing up waving to Ask and settling in turned to look at Gavin. Gavin was tasting food off his plate, and everyone hadn't even had a chance to sit down! "Gavin! You're not allowed, it's bad manners!" he huffed at his older brother. He was hungry too and it wasn't fair that Gavin got to eat off his plate and he didn't. But it was very important to him to set a good example for his cousin.
Willow was settled into her chair by Sun and was watching Gavin and Kei as they were beginning to bicker. She turned to Kei and tugged on his sleeve. "No fight Kei! Dinner is happy." She didn't want fighting right now, she wanted Sun to sit down and everyone could eat.
"Kei, Gavin, Willow is right. No fighting right now. Though Kei is right too Gavin. No eating until everyone is sitting." She settled into her own seat and smiled at everyone assembled practically beaming from her toes up. "And now that everyone is, dig in!" She was thrilled everyone was getting along, minus some sibling bickering, and to have her family at her table. As far as she was concerned it couldn't get much better.
