She was relieved that he could understand that, she certainly did have priorities, and they did not include boys. Nodding softly, and relaxing slightly now that the blinds were drawn, cutting off the light, much to the Espeon’s disappointment. Faleen shot it another quick glance, starting to wonder what other pokemon Hayes had… and were there more psychic? … He had a lot of those it seemed.
“Ah, yes, I did. Earlier this morning.” she answered, lifting her chin back up a little. “That’s actually why I’m going to the mountains. He wasn’t happy that I disobeyed orders during the raid,” lifting a corner of her mouth slightly, she didn’t look to upset about it. She had long since accepted her mistake, but she wasn’t going to forget it, OR repeat it. “To be honest I think I got off pretty easy this time, not that this mission’s going to be easy” reaching up to tuck some loose strands of hair behind her ear. “He wants me and another grunt to find a backpack; at least he’s going to let us use metal detectors” eyes growing wide for a moment , just thinking about how much more impossible it would seem if they have to DIG around for it without the metal detectors.

As Hayes listened to Faleen, he let his hand lie still, fingers relaxed. "First offense," he agreed at her comment about getting off easy. As Therac's nosing became more inquisitive, the agent's thumb brushed the side of the Pokemon's muzzle. Therac paused and drew his nose back, looking a little unsure of how to proceed.
"That's Nikki's." He glanced down and smiled to himself, a little ruefully. "You'll probably find our snowshoes up there too."
He seemed to think for a second, then looked back up.
"Actually-" Therac started as the agent's hand withdrew, one paw upraised. "-you should have a look at this." Hayes watched the Espeon from the corner of his eye as he lifted his laptop back onto the table in a slow, smooth movement. His Pokemon took a few steps back, and finding the way blocked by a textbook, opted for a third direction - toward the window.
The sunlight was stronger - ah, there! Tail waving, Therac poked his nose between the blinds and half-lidded his eyes.

And hopefully her last offence, she understood that she wasn’t even –close- to perfect, that she had a lot to learn, but she really, really hoped that this wasn’t going to set a pattern for her. She didn’t want to keep screwing up. “Nikki…” so that was her name then, at least, Faleen would guess they were talking about the same women. Giving him a politely puzzled look when he mentioned the snowshoes, but didn’t question it further when he told her to look at something, the agent bringing up his laptop, Curious now, the disheveled Grunt tilted her head softly, leaning over the table a little as she watched what he was doing. When she felt a strip of warmth over the side and back of her neck, her glanced shifted toward the window, a crack of light moving through the opened blinds, as the Espeon seemed to be enjoying sun bathing. it was hard to tell what she might have been thinking about the Espeon, for the most part she payed it no real mind, though the difference between it and her Umbreon, were… different, while oddly similar. Umbreon would never do that with Sunlight, but she has seen him enjoying the moonlight in a similar fusion.

"My partner," Hayes explained with a little smile that was blocked out when he opened the laptop. The agent adjusted his glasses and his expression became focused, brow slightly furrowed as he searched through his files.
"Huh.." he muttered to himself, tapping the touchpad, then, "Oh, right."
Therac breathed a quiet sigh and closed his eyes.
"Here we go." Hayes turned his laptop so Faleen could see the image on screen - a map of the Sky Peaks, overlaid with a grid and an irregular shape outlined with red. A folder icon in the system tray read 'Mission Data.'
"So this-" He half-leaned out of his chair to trace the shape, careful not to let his finger touch the screen. "Is where we started. Avalanche was here-" He stopped where the outline sharply turned back on itself. "-and Nikki ended up here." Another point, just before the line traveled off to a dark clump that might be trees.
"It covered something like.." Hayes paused to think, then traced a triangle over the image. "Yeah, about that. I'd focus your search there."

Surprised of course to learn that he was that other Agent, Nikki’s, partner and even more so that he had been there in the mountains with her during the avalanche, when she lost her backpack. When Hayes had voiced having found what he was looking for on the computer, Faleen pulled her attention away from the Espeon, to find herself looking at a map of Sky Peak. Her lips parted slightly as he not only showed her where they had been, her eyes followed his fingers progress. In that couple of seconds, they had gone from having to search all, or at least a large portion of the mountain, to having a better idea as to the aria the backpack could be! It was still a large aria, but it was a start! It was almost too good to be true… and the thought that he was lying to her did cross her mind… but it’s not like she had a better idea of where to search. Looking away from the map, after scanning it closely to memorizing that aria, her attention was turned to the blond agent, her eyes wider now. “That’s going to be very helpful, I had no idea you had been there." talk about good luck.

"Heh, yeah." There was that slightly sheepish, eyes-averted grin again. "Got sent out for a possible legendary sighting but had to turn back." He sounded a little rueful about that, but it didn't last long.
"Anyway-" Hayes glanced back at Faleen and pointed to the dark stand of trees on the map, "this is a good spot for a base camp. Ground might be icy, though." His mouth twitched at some private joke.
The blond leaned back in his chair, but left the screen up for Faleen to scrutinize, and looked over to his Espeon. Therac hadn't moved; his attention was fully focused on the warmth and light coming through the window.

She had a few questions she wanted to ask him, watching the little tweaks in his expression change along with what he was saying. A lot was brought into light about him in just that moment, and she was curious for more details, if her raised eyebrows were any indication of that.
But if she really did have any questions, she didn't ask them just yet, instead her hazel gaze shifted back to the computer screen, clearly studying it closely, going over what he had told her a couple more times.
she made mental notes in complete silence, the quiet between them continued, until Faleen sat up strait once again, leaning back further in her seat. "... I really didn't expect anything like this... but thank you"

While Faleen mulled over the map, Hayes finished off his drink and tossed it overhand at the trash can behind him. He watched it over his shoulder until it bounced off the edge and fell in.
Therac twitched an ear, but didn't move.
The agent straightened up and smiled at Faleen - a friendly little half-quirk, the equivalent of a shrug. "Sure," he replied, as if he considered it no big deal, and started to stand. "Got everything you need? I should be getting back."
"Espe'n," his Pokemon murmured.
Hayes looked at the sun-loving Psychic-type. "C'mon, I'll let you back in the dorm."
Therac pulled his nose out of the blinds and turned toward the blond. Soaking up sunlight sprawled out on a bed was a much better prospect.

Nodding in confirmation when he asked if she was finished, "yeah I'm done," moving away from the computer so he could take it back, she stayed seated while he got ready to go. "I'll see you around then" lifting a hand in a small parting gesture.
The books still sat on the table where she put them. as she started to stand up herself, she reached out to scoop them into her arm. it was a good thing she came, got something very troublesome sorted out, and she has a better idea of where to look in the mountains. though, she was leaving feeling more perplexed about this guy then when she came. Watch, the backpack wasn't going to be in that aria, she bet, it would certainly not surprise her at all.

Hayes shot her a parting smile as he gathered up his laptop and held it in the crook of his good arm. "Good luck."
Therac turned one last inquisitive look on Faleen before he hopped off the table and followed the agent down the hall.
