Water Crawling Andraste smiled as she looked at the Blow Magnum Blank Gun. What a beautiful weapon it was, very beautiful. She could really need another one of them, although she didn't even use the one she owned often. For her it wasn't the usage, just the appearance, the metal, the cold feeling when your fingers brush against it...awesome !
Indeed she just looked at a weapon magazine, seated on a small stool in the bathroom. It was quite late in the evening, round about 10pm and she had finally found the time to relax. Little Jacosa was moving around in the bathtub, playing with some rubber toys. The air was filled with the smell of hot water and soap and Andraste sighed as she leaned against the heater. When evenings were like this, she didn't seem to bother Jac's company.
The otter baby was able to help himself when he was inside the water and during the weeks she had recognised how much water it needed inside the tub to allow him to dive, but prevent a water massaker at the same time.
"Nice, huh ?" Andraste said as she flicked a page and started to read an article about weapon cleaning. Jacosa answered with his usual babbles, very happy that he wasn't alone and was allowed to swim. Besides being carried around or eating fish this was the best part of the day for him. Sometimes he just poked the rubber toys with his nose around for a long time and when this game started to become boring he grabbed a toy and dived down a bit to let it go and see how it moved back towards the surface. Jacosa was actually able to spent hours doing this.
And just when Andraste was busy with reading and didn't look he tried how to crawl. Sure, swimming was different, but he had grown a bit and was able to reach the ground with his paws while still poking his nose out of the water. It was easier within the water than outside and so he practised the movements. Of course rolling around was fun and it splashed so merrily when being inside the tub, but there had to be a quicker movement. And this was quicker indeed...now he just needed to try it when put on the blanket...his time would come, he was sure.

He did it...oh no ! Hot coffee was spilled across the couch table as Andraste stared at the little otter.
"Stop doing this ! Stop it ! NO !"
Jacosa didn't seem to bother and continued crawling across the carpet. Sometimes his head was still too heavy, but he managed to keep it up for a while and quickly moved through the room. His tail was wiggling slightly and Andraste feared that he'd lose his diapers again if he continued doing this.
He had practised for quite a while and now that he was sure he could do it, he had started to crawl. And how nice it had worked ! She had even put the brown liquid everywhere out of joy. Wonderful, she was probably proud of him. Ok, she was yelling and he didn't know why, but...who cares ?
"Jacosa, come here." Andraste said as she moved up, tried to get the coffee of her shirt and picked the little otter up to make him lay down on the couch.
"I don't want you to crawl. Do you know what it means ? It means : You can't just lay around on a blanket anymore and I drink my coffee. Now I have to look out for you ! Do you think I want that ?...No..."
The woman continued to mutter and moved to clean up the table while Jacosa yawned and feel asleep within seconds. What a wonderful accomplishment !

Fishy - The way to language The office work was already done and Andraste had been able to go home earlier today. Jacosa had been glad that he was picked up in the early afternoon and didn't had to wait until the evening.
He had trained to become better at crawling and although Andraste was worried that he could start breaking things she had adapted to the fact that he was able to do so now. Still she made sure to close the kitchen door and so the living room was the only crawling territory the little otter had ( beside the bath tub of course ).
From time to time he squealed or laughed whereas the woman watched some TV. Halloween had been fun when she had been a child, but right now it just annoyed her a bit. She didn't want parties or watching children do the trick or treat game. Jacosa was luckily too small for such things and all the thoughts dealing with him growing were simply blocked by her brain. Life could be so easy if you just knew how to push things away !
Jacosa was nudging the couch for the third time this evening and tried to chew on the leather. It didn't taste good, but it was fun and so he left some nice spots of saliva here and there. Crawling was a funny way of moving, but it sadly made him very hungry. His tail was swaying slightly as he made his way towards Andraste's feet, which were covered in black socks. He had to admit that they tasted a bit different, but still different as he sucked them slightly. HUNGRY !
The woman was close to kick the little otter boy as she felt the tickling feelings and quickly pulled her feet onto the couch. "Jac !" Shaking her head in an amused manner she picked the otter up. It looked like he was hungry again. Right now she had experienced that he needed tons of fish daily, but in very small portions.
"Stay here, I'll first get the mail and then you'll get some prawns." Jacosa was put down on the carpet again as Andraste moved out of the flat and went down the stairs slightly whistling. The air was cold here in the stairway and so she hurried to get back in after picking a small envelope out of the mailbox.
The warmth of her living room welcomed her as she heard a well-known voice and glared at the back of a man who was sitting in front of Jacosa and tickled the little otter, who was squealing with delight.
"What are YOU doing here ?" She spit out the words literally and made a few steps towards her colleague Ranjit, who had turned around as he heard her coming closer.
"Playing with Jacosa." Was all he said before he turned back to the furry one, who was about to show that he could turn himself around.
"How did you get into my flat ? HUH ?" Andraste frowned hardly as she even moved closer and clenched her fists.
"I walked through the door and nobody was here beside the little one...he's able to crawl, did you know ?"
"You're the most distressing person ever, you know ?"
"Sure. But the little one needs a father figure !"
"I'm enough. He has food, he has me, he has his toys. He doesn't need a strange guy who tickles him."
"Are you sure ?"
"SURE !"
"I don't think so."
Andraste started to growl and was about to kick him as she noticed that he could probably fall onto Jac when she did so. She didn't want to risk a wailing otter.
"He doesn't need a fishguy."
"He's an otter."
"He EATS FISH !"
"I guess he's hungry by the way..."
Stomping into the kitchen the woman shut up and pulled food out of the refridgerator. ******** life. ******** fishguys.

Costumes - Make me babble
Jacosa was devouring the prawns and his dark eyes were friendly gazing up at the man who was holidng him. Gladly the otter wasn't scared of any kind of strangers. Andraste still wondered if he didn't know that people could be unfriendly or if he was just too stupid to get it. Probably a mix, very likely.
"So when will you start trick or treating ?" Ranjit asked as he watched the otter in his arms with a grin. "What kind of costume did you buy anyway ?"
The woman sat as far away as possible on the couch and eyed Jacosa suspiciously. Traitor ! Her mind called over and over again. She was the one to give him prawns and toys and now this waterguy with the silky good-looking blue skin was able to attract his attention. Jac was even quiet !
"We don't do Halloween." She grumbled, arms crossed. "He's a baby, he can't eat the sweets. Look at his teeth, there's one missing, you remember ?"
"How did you do that by the way ?" The male asked and looked back at the women, who was close to explode. Really close.
"Don't accuse me of hurting the otter. He's MINE by the way !" Quickly she pulled Jacosa onto her lap, who squealed and pushed the rest of the prawn right onto Andraste's shirt. Right after doing so and totally neglecting the woman's expression, he pushed his nose into the muddy spot on the shirt.
"Sure, sure. Now let's go and buy his costume."
"He's an otter. Did you ever see an otter wear a costume ? NO !" Andraste growled and wiped the prawn pieces off her clothing. She was too occupied with Ranjit to yell at the little one. Jacosa grabbed the cloth close to him and rubbed his head against Andraste's chest in a friendly manner.
"Come on, he's a baby. Humanoid somehow. He'll even talk someday and behave like me and...no, hopefully not like you." Ranjit grinned and moved towards the entrance putting his hand on the doorknob and opened it carefully before Andraste was able to reach him and hit him hardly.
"Now let's go to the store and buy something. Come on, it's already getting dark."

Horns - I can do it
People smiled at the nice father with the little otter boy as they passed. Ranjit was holding Jacosa's hands tightly while the furry one tried to walk on his legs. It was still a bit wobbly, but the big man smiled so friendly and cheered him on.
Everything was full of light at this place, tons of people everywhere. Big ones, little ones, furry ones and yelling ones like Andraste. Cosa was used to this now and so he didn't bother at all. He liked this guy and they had fun and somehow everything was smaller now from this point of view. It was harder to do then the crawling, but he had practised a bit in the bathtub when he had pulled himself up to splash back into the warm liquid.
"Isn't this great, Jacosa ?" Ranjit smiled with a goofy expression whereas Andraste was still about to sort out children costumes. She had already scared a little girl away as she had told her that girl's who go as fairys will probably end up pregnant very early. She had experiences, but somehow the girl hadn't understood her nice intentions and the mother hadn't got it either. Probably was one of these fairy-mothers too...
The otter squealed and tried to kick one of the plastic swords nearby, which almost made him trip over his own feet. Ranjit laughed. "You've got your mother's temperament." Andraste rolled her eyes and held back a comment about otters coming out of her belly, because two women stared at her in an unfriendly way. Alright, probably she didn't look so great with prawn on her shirt, but who cared about this ? At least Jacosa hadn't puked on her yet.
Cosa heavily concentrated on reaching the interesting grey item with his feet and managed to fall on his butt by doing so. Ranjit blinked as he tried to pull the wiggling otter up again. "He's not hurt, he likes it." Andraste stated and kept on looking. Indeed the otter just waved his tail slightly and smiled brightly. What an awesome game. Fall down, pull up, fall down...diapers were a good thing to prevent hurtsies from you, for sure.
Pirate ? No. Doctor ? No. Clown. Big fat red no. The young woman flicked through the little pieces of cloth and sighed. "I'm still in for Jacosa being an otter. No, wait, I'm in for no costume at all !" She growled.
The said-one was instead continuing to play the up an down game with the nice new friend and Ranjit didn't have a choice but to pick him up. Alright, this wasn't so much fun anymore... Jacosa pouted but his attention was quickly directed to something red. The same colour as Andraste's hair and he liked the hair, because he had once tasted it. So what was going on about this ?
He was close to fell out of Ranjit arms as Andraste picked up the devil horns. "Are you sure you want to dress up a devil-otter of doom ?" Ranjit laughed and was about to head away as a smirk crossed the woman's face. Of course, very right costume. "Sure." She grinned and pulled the horns onto the otter's head. The big black eyes tried to see what was going on on top, but somehow his eyes didn't want to see it. So he tried to grab it was his paws and quickly removed them as he notice that it wasn't fluffy, but hard and...pointy.
"Great costume, Jac." Andraste commented and moved towards the cash deck. Doubts arised within the colleague. "You're really sure ?" Rolling her eyes again she put some bills in the hand of an old grunty lady and nodded. "Yes, sure."
Jacosa was moving his head carefully not sure if the horns would fall down otherwise. Somehow it felt heavier now.
"I bet you're hungry after this great shopping tour, devil-otter, right ?" Ranjit asked the baby and stroked his back slightly as they stepped into the cold air of the evening. It was slowly getting winter. But right at this moment in time something happened neither of them had expected. Jacosa knew his time had come and his mouth was finally tough enough to take the challenge. So the two grown-ups just gasped as he used the word they both had mentioned so often during the day.
"Shoor."

Something's going on
My otter, Jac, has started to talk. I still can't get it, because since he tried to say sure he's managed to say some more words. Somehow he refers to himself as 'Cosa' now. This resembles in little sentences like 'Cosa feeesh'. I don't like these senteces, really, I don't.
We went to this Halloween party of the Gaian Fertility something, but there were only two women talking and Jac was easily bored and tried to pull off his horns to chew on them. So we went home early. I'm not even sure why I went there. A sudden friendlyness must have struck me.
Anyway Jac also tries to pull himself onto his feet lately and this makes me worry even more, because he's large enough to grab things on table's then and I don't want him to do this. Don't think I'm one of these beasty persons, but actually I don't like otters sucking on guns.
Actually I don't like anyone sucking on guns...although...well, it's not the point anyway.
I just hope he doesn't grow to quick, otherwise he's bigger than me and I'll have a killer otter inside my flat and I'll have to buy a new one to give him a new room. Or I simply sell him...but actually I wouldn't. Just very probably. Wouldn't be good for him though, because he likes me so much. I can't really do anything about.
We'll see...

I'm a toddler now !
The blue whale moved through the ocean full of bubbles as suddenly a giant yellow duck appeared in the sky and flew towards it.
"Wooooosh..." Jacosa mouthed and allowed the ducky to splash into the warm water. He once again enjoyed to take a bath and it had become a daily routine to play with his rubber toys. Today the duck tried to imitate a plane, whereas the whale wanted to be a ship. Great game, really.
He knew that Andraste was probably sitting in front of the TV and so the little otter dared to splash a little bit more and squeal louder than he was supposed to be. Unfortunately the woman had just been about to visit the kitchen as she heard the noises from the bathroom and opened the door just as some of the liquid was squinted out of the whale's mouth onto the mirror.
"Jacosa." She growled and shook her head. The otter grinned and moved below the water surface for a moment to hide. Sadly there weren't enough bubbles. "Sowwy." He admitted and showed the rubber toy to the woman, who was holding an interesting silver thing in her hands. "Wassat ?" Cosa asked curiously and moved towards the edge of the tub to look at the interesting item more closely.
"It's called camera. You can take pictures with it." The otter blinked twice as he tried to imagine how this little thing produced pictures. Where did they come out ? Very curiously he stared at Andraste and moved his tail slightly within the water.
And suddenly his eyes were attacked ! A strange flash jumped out of the ca-mee-ha and made him go all fuzzy and strange. "Eeee...." He called out and tried to make the points in front of his eyes go away by burying his head into his hands.
"Hey Jac, it's just a camera. It has a flash, it doesn't hurt." Andraste tried to explain, although she hadn't thought about him reacting like this. "Ca-mee-ha." Jacosa sniffed as he was lifted up and put inside a towel.

Activity has just begun
Book, I can't take it anymore. He's grown into a toddler. Alright, not much of a problem. He's still smaller, not as strong as I am and after all : An otter !
I'm talking about Jac, if you haven't noticed it so far.
Remember that he used to babble when he was still smaller, but I wasn't able to understand what he's saying ? Now I am. Kind of.
He's not able to stop talking if something interests him. I came to the conclusion that he even talks to the TV when nobody else is there. Last time I entered the living room he was sitting on front of it and talked to Coco Kitty and Kiki Kitty. Some kind of popular children series.
But that's not really the point, why I'm about to think that suicide would be a nice thing. Jac is driving me mad ! Now that he's able to walk he's trying to pull cups from the coffee table, putting marmelade on the wallpapers, plays undersea boat in the bathtub and knows how to get enough water into the tub to drown the whole bathroom.
I can't take it ! I have to be careful about everything. Yesterday he ripped one of my favourite couch pillows and the day before he crept into the washing machine, trying to find out where the water came from.
Wait....I hear him babbling in the bathroom...I wonder what he flushed down the toilet this time....

Another visit and dust Lenachan358 A blank black nose was poking through a small slit between the door and it's frame and sniffed curiously. People in there, definately. One dark eye followed the nose's way and peered through the slid. Yes, yes, people in there.
"Gooooooo !" A squealing voice announced out of sudden as a small otter with brown fur and darker hair hit the door with his body, pushed it open by doing so and toddled into the room. His tail was wiggling slightly as a broad smile was showing on his face. People !
"Jac ! What are you doing ? Come back. Didn't I tell you NOT to...." Andraste was just about to yell hardly at the little boy as she entered the building and was forced to stop as she noticed the other parents and their children. "Err...just don't do it again." Aki Ana "Well, the first thing I've learned is that sometimes...they do, or EAT....weird things." Wincing as she remembered the ants stuck in the honey, and Saara's absolute delight, Aki shuddered. "It doesn't seem to hurt her, so I let her pick her own meals. Sometimes I'll set out a variety of plates and watch what she naturally seems to go for. It's not a bad method!" Tucking the earring away into her pocket, Aki giggled as Makana nibbled on the mouse. She was obviously taken with the young kitten, and tried to keep herself from petting. These children, despite their cute appearances, deserved the same respect as any child! As the door opened with a squeal, both Aki and Saara turned to watch. Saara was trying to wrap herself around Annora's arm playfully, and froze as the newcomer entered the room. Nice fur, gorgeous eyes, and what a cute gait! Saara ducked, finding herself shy for the first time in her young life, and peered over the edge of Annora's arm meekly. What an adorable baby! Trio Maxwell-Chang Annora's fins were easily flattened against her arm, and she snuggled Saara happily, liking this new game. It was fast becoming obvious that she was not a stand-offish child. Piling a few stuffed toys around them, she looked up to watch the newcomer, head tilting. Now that she had a friend here, shyness was the last thing on her mind. "Hi!" Trio nodded, her attention diverted from Aki to Andraste curiously. "Hello?" she called, just in time to have her own greeting drowned out by her daughter's. Makana was oblivious, her wide eyes watching Aki still as she chewed the mouse's tail. Lenachan358 Great Andraste. Well done. Gave a nice first impression again.
The mother sighed and tried to smile slightly, although she couldn't hide her embarrassment. "Greetings." She said as she tucked one of her hands into her trousers' pockets. "I'm Andraste and this is..."
"COSA !" The little otter screamed and quickly moved towards the other children. Oh that was great, he didn't knew them. How would they taste ? Good, bad, fish ? Who knew ?
"Joo haf dat ?" Quickly he pointed at all the toys and grinned. He liked opening toys and then pushing them over the floor looking which one would be the first one to be destroyed completely. It was great, but usually he wasn't allowed to do it anymore, because Andraste had locked all the toys.
So he tried to kill the couch, but actually couch didn't seem to like to be treated like this.
The children looked nice though. One looked even like a fish. She should be tasted first, Jacosa decided in his young excited mind and grinned. Aki Ana Saara was still peering shyly, finally giving in to her playful urge to flee. Scampering up closer to Annora's face, she planted a slightly wet nosed kiss on the girl's cheek and dove for the other toy box...vanishing inside with a flurry of dolls and plastic trucks. Smiling, Aki nodded to the newcomers and excused herself from Trio and Makana. "I'm going to make sure she's okay. Catch you in a moment!" Strolling across the room, careful of little ones underfoot, Aki settled down on her knees and began to gently dig. Saara was here somewhere, she couldn't hide forever! Trio Maxwell-Chang Annora beamed at the kiss, turning to peer at 'Cosa' delightedly. "I'm Annora," she announced, ignoring his question in favor of the answer she knew by rote. Even so, she pushed over some of the toys, humming quietly to herself as she watched to see which the otter would take. Trio nodded to Aki in sympathy before turning her attention to Andraste. "Hi," she offered, holding out a hand as the other bounced Makana a little. A quietly warning murr stopped that very quickly, though. "I'm Trio, and this is Makana. It's nice to meet you," she introduced, with a warm smile. "And the girl over there is Annora," she added, with the sneaking suspicion she'd be saying that a LOT over the next little while. "How do you do?" Lenachan358 "An ora." The otter misspronounced the name, but still he smiled broadly at the girl. Now she even offered him toys, awesome. Just quickly he glanced at the fluffy one who seemed to have gone into a box far away before turning his attention back to the blue girl. "Tis ball." Jacosa quickly decided to pick a rainbow coloured ball and put it into his mouth to taste it. Somehow it just tasted like dust, but he had already tasted a lot of dust things and this wasn't the worst.
Gladly Andraste didn't look and concentrated on Trio. "Nice to meet you too. I'm fine...wait...that's a lie. I'm not. Since Jacosa has grown into a toddler I'm not able to cope with him anymore. Alright, I know mothers aren't supposed to say this to new acquaintances, but you don't know what he destroyed within the last 24 hours." The woman blinked as she noticed how fast and how determined she had spoken. "And...how are you and the little, peacefully looking baby one ?"
"Ty, ty !" Jacosa babbled instead and waved with the ball so An ora was able to get it and taste it too. Perhaps she liked dust ? Trio Maxwell-Chang Trio stared at Jacosa curiously for several seconds, then eyed the ball dubiously. That wasn't food! "It good?" she asked, tilting her head to one side and reaching out to poke the ball. Trio blinked a couple of times, startled by the sudden rant from Andraste. Casting about for something to say that wasn't trite or vague, she finally offered up, "He sounds rambunctious." Trite. Another try gave her, "What did you do about it?" There, that was better. At least that gave Andraste the option to vent a little. Lenachan358 "Vewy." Jacosa stated and moved up to his new friend offering the ball to her. She should try, really. Perhaps she liked it, if not, he'd try to give her something else. Somehow his tongue felt strange though...dusty...somehow... He quickly poked it out to stroke it, but it didn't make it better somehow. "Aw aw..."
Andraste sighed. "Well you know, he's curious. He doesn't mean it badly ( at least I hope so ). He has this....exploring thing going on and babbles a LOT." She scratched her head before continuing. "But actually, I like him like that, because I don't want a child that is just boring. So I'm a bit confused, a bit stressed..yeah. That's it. Did I mention that Makana really looks beautiful ?"
She smiled slightly as her ears suddenly heard a very familiar "aw aw" and she definately knew what that meant. "Jac, what happened ?" Andraste quickled knelt down beside the otter who poked out his tongue trying to get rid of the fuzzy stuff.
"I'll be back in a minute, I apologize. Come on Jacosa, we get into the bathroom and clean this up and then you can continue playing." Jacosa felt how he was lifted up and waved at his friends who seemed smaller now. "Tub !" He squealed as they disappeared inside the bathroom. Lenachan358 When Andraste and Jacosa got out later, after lots of screaming and dealing with a dusty tongue everyone else seemed to have gone. "Fwiends ?" The otter was slightly confused that nobody seemed to be there anymore. "Yes, Cosa. Next time you shouldn't eat dusty balls, so people will stay." Andraste mentioned before they moved out of the building.

Chris' mess ?
"Who'ssat ?" A black nose was pressed against the window's glass and two dark eyes followed the nose's gaze as usual. Jacosa had been awfully silence until that certain minute when Andraste came out of the kitchen to look if everything was alright. Indeed, it was.
The woman had bought a lock for the window and now it was Jacosa's favourite game to watch the people outside. Andraste didn't know that he was giving them names and called them his friends secretly, but she knew that he was quiet when doing so. So it was extraordinary that he asked something about the outside. At the beginning he had asked about everything, but since then Andraste had had enough time to do what suited her likings. This was actually very nice, because...
"Who'ssat ?" Jacosa demanded again and his finger quickly was pushed against the glass twice. Andraste sighed and put down her coffee cup before moving over to the toddler. "There are some children singing songs." She explained and was about to turn around again as Jacosa shook his head. "NOOOO ! NO ! NO !"
The woman moved back again and followed the boys view. "There's a man with a dog, people with presents..." "Woooong. No!" The otter exclaimed again and pushed harder against the glas. "Lissen."
Moving one hand through Jacosa's hair to make him calm down Andraste listened to the song. On the first day of Christmas... "It's a very usual Christmas song, Jac." She muttered and wondered what he wanted to know about it. Who wrote it ? Who published it ? Who sang it ?
"Who'ssat ?" Jacosa repeated with a happy smile and Andraste was really close to just scream and leave the room. But instead she frowned slightly and stared at the otter. "Who's who ?" "Who's Chris ?" Jac was about to mimick a picture of pure innocence as he stared up at his mother. She should know, shouldn't she ?
It took Andraste a few minutes before she actually understood what the little one was talking about. Quickly she hit her forehead and laughed. Just as if it would help to find the solution Jacosa copied this motion and just noticed that it hurt and didn't help at all. "It's a holiday, Jac. There's no Chris."
"But...he made a MESS !" The terrible word, he knew it. Jacosa tended to do messes as well, at least Andraste told him so. And a mess was something bad for adults, he had experienced, because even Ranjit didn't like it.
"Nah...Christmas means that people hug each other and give each other presents and everyone is happy beside the lonely people." Andraste explained, although it somehow wasn't as easy as it sounded. She didn't like Christmas and so they hadn't decorated. Other mothers would probably buy presents for their children, she concluded and suddenly felt guilty.
"I give you pwesent !" Jac smiled broadly and pushed his nose back into it's place on the window.
Damnit, now she had to buy something...

Who in the world needs letters ? caroline_cupcake Books, the second love of her life, Jade was deep into a book, her eyes appeared to move in a rhythm as she flipped the pages. The few words that were on the pages made no sense, but the actual pictures created a story all its own; one only Jade understood. Since the new living arrangement, Jade was mostly into these simple books that had been given to her. No she did not want to go out and play, no Mia she did not want to listen to music...all Jade wanted to do was create a story with these pictures. Jade glanced up at Tabitha, she was her only friend it seemed. She hardly understood the woman, but she read to her and made her cookies.
Tabitha took Jade to the HQ in hope of her socializing a bit more, it seemed that she was lonely; but the woman didn't exactly know if Jade preferred it that way. The young panda girl seemed so shy and delicate, not wanting to be touched by anyone. Tabitha sometimes found it hard even to brush the girl's hair, as sometimes she would shy away. Lenachan358 Andraste actually had enough of Jacosa trying to create presents by putting all kinds of things together. Yes, indeed, it was adorable. But hey, wasn't it nerve racking, annyoing and totally disturbing as well ? At least the mother didn't feel well about putting all kinds of toys and everything else in reach of the toddler away. This caused Jacosa to pout for a moment and usually he tried to find a new project quickly.
So she had decided to bring him to the headquarter once again. As she opened the door Jacosa quickly moved into the well-known building and almost stumbled across his own feet. They just weren't right for walking sometimes.
At least they weren't alone. There was a girl, which didn't have any colour. Well, she probably was a zebra, because zebras were also black and white. But were they as fluffy ? For a moment he pondered if he should ask, but quickly Jacosa remembered to say hello at first. "HEYO !" He screamed and put his hands into the air to wave in an excited manner.
Andraste sighed and just grinned as she nodded towards Tabitha. caroline_cupcake Jade's shoulders crept up a bit and she scooted away a bit, she didn't need to even look up to sense an annoying kid.
Tabitha smiled towards the folks that entered the building and nudged Jade with the edge of her white grandma sneakers. "Why doesssn't dee Misss say hello?" She whispered to Jade with a concerned look in her eyes.
Jade sighed, why was she made to do such things? She hesitantly turned her head around and waved to the otter child, then of course went back to her book. The reserved child breathed in deeply, she was always meant to do things no matter how uncomfortable she felt. Lenachan358 In fact Jacosa didn't event want to notice that Jade retreated herself and stumbled towards her, revealing a smile and his tooth. His eyes scanned the toys and the thing in her hands quickly and a puzzled expression appeared on his face. Actually he didn't own any books and Andraste was used to read magazines. "Me Cosa." He pointed at himself, this always made a good start. "Whatcha doo ?"
Andraste smiled at Tabitha. "Hello. Nice to meet you." Within this couple she was the one, who wasn't fond of to much company. caroline_cupcake Jade gulped and held her book to her chest. "Readin, cosa?" She gazed at him, vaguely interested in this new word. "You read?" Jade attempted to be friendly, surely surprising herself.
Tabitha grinned at Jade, feeling proud of her. "Oh, hellosss. I'm Tabitha." She nodded. "Tisss a pleasure." Lenachan358 Oh no ! Reading sounded like fun and he wasn't able to to do, didn't even know what it was. So how could they be friends then, if he didn't know the game ? Misery, misery. "Me not know..how ?" He shrugged and frowned a bit before coming closer to look at the book's inside. "You good at reading ?"
Andraste watched the otter boy quietly. Sure, she had never read anything to him. Oh well... Because of a sudden snow storm, both families had to leave quickly and Andraste hurried home with Jacosa.

Christmas Struggles I
He knew that Christmas was soon and he knew that people liked to give each other presents. Of course the little otter wasn't really informed about the whole Santa Clause business, because Andraste hadn't cared to tell him, but at least he was in for the spirit.
Jacosa had collected everything that was able to be used as paint starting with a tube of toothpaste up to some ink, which had been put into a cupboard without a real reason. Secretly he had chosen the best spot in the whole flat, also known as the white kitchen wall and had painted people with guns and himself and Andraste. It was a masterpiece in the otter's eyes and hopefully she would like it.
Quickly he moved back into his bed, which was standing in the sleeping room close to the woman's one.
~~
Andraste was really close to a nervous breakdown. The coffee mug she was holding slipped out of her hands and the brown liquid was quickly spread on the floor. Jacosa squealed happily, because in his opinion this was a great sign. She liked it. "Mary's Chris mess ! He announced happily and pushed his nose against Andraste's jeans.
What would she say ? Would she be happy ? Yes, yes ?!
She knew the otter only wanted to make her happy and if she wanted to be a good mother, she wasn't allowed to yell at him, but.... Andraste took a deep breath as the doorbell rang and Jacosa toddled towards the door peering through the newspaper slit.
"Stranger or nice ?" Jacosa asked the one he couldn't really see. The trousers looked familar though, indeed. But Andraste had told him that he shouldn't talk to strangers and so he decided to ask first.
The person kneeled down so Jacosa could see him. "It's Ranjit, Jacosa. You can open the door." The otter squealed in delight and tried to open the door on his tiptoes. As it didn't work he jumped and clung to the handle so the door was opened and Ranjit could enter.
So he did. "Merry Christmas, my dears !" He announced with a smile and Andraste answered with a frown.
"Spilled your coffee ?" Ranjit pointed at the ground and Andraste's eyes grew wide. "Oh no !" Quickly she moved to clean up the mess and was too busy to notice that she usually didn't want the colleague around.
"So tell me Jacosa, what did you get for Christmas ?" Ranjit lifted the toddler up and moved one hand through his hair.
"Pwesent. Made me !" Very proud of his gift Jacosa pointed at the wall and now Ranjit could understand Andraste's expression. "Wow, and you did it really on your own ?" The otter nodded happily and nudged the shoulder of the man.
"I didn't gave him his present yet." Andraste sighed and looked at the one with the blue skin. Right now she was grateful that he was there, because otherwise she really would have yelled at Jacosa and he would have been upset. She wasn't fond of Christmas, but afterall Jac was still too small to understand this.
"Next time you should draw on paper though, Jac." Ranjit smiled and carried the little one into the living room to put him down on the couch. "Me cannot wite." The otter sighed as he remembered the whole stuff about letters he didn't understand yet. "Don't worry, we can teach you if you want. But aren't you interested in getting presents as well ?" The man asked and looked at the otter, whose eyes sparkled because of joy.
Ranjit pulled a little seashell out of his pockets which was wrapped in a red ribbon. "I thought you might like it, Jac."
And indeed the little one was amazed and just stared at the precious thing in his paws. Holy Night, what a wonderful present. After licking it he looked at Ranjit and smiled so broadly that his lonely tooth was visible. "Thankoo!" Jacosa quickly hugged the man's belly before sliding off the couch and stumbling towards the door to the kitchen where his mother was standing. "Lookit, lookit, lookit !" He screamed and waved with the shell.
"That's pretty, Jac." Andraste sighed and looked towards Ranjit. "I need your help."

Christmas Struggles II
"You don't have a single little present for him ?" The blue skinned man stared at the woman in front of him and shook his head. Andraste felt horrible. She had totally forgotten about Christmas and didn't know what to buy for the little otter. Now it was almost too late.
"No." She sighed while slowly massaging her forehead. "I'm a truly bad mother. I don't even know what I thought when I told you I'd keep him. It won't work out as you see."
Ranjit hesitated but put a hand on her shoulder and smiled slightly. "Don't worry, the shops are still open. Let's go and buy a nice gift for him." Andraste looked up into the man's eyes and frowned. "Nice idea, fishguy. But actually...we can't take him with us."
"Don't worry, we'll just take him to my mother. She loves children and I guess Jacosa will have lots of fun." Andraste was full of doubt but in such a situation you're barely able to say 'no'.
~~
Jacosa was chewing on the seashell as the grown-ups entered the living room again and looked at them with excitement. What was going to happen now ? Something interesting, probably.
The blue one was the first one to talk, not his usual person. "Hey Jac, what do you think about visiting someone nice ?" The otter thought about it for a moment. "May take shell ?" The little one asked and as Andraste nodded he imitated the gesture. "Cosa likes meeting friends."
Andraste lifted him up, stroked through his hair and moved out of the flat with Ranjit. "We can take my car."

Babysitting of a different kind
"Mother ? It's me, Ranjit." The man lurked into the silent room like a young child who was afraid to be hit when entering. Andraste was about to put Jacosa down and look as well as the dark eyes of the otter caught something interesting. And as always he didn't think about it much and just cared about looking at it.
A furry hairball moved into the darkness of the room and hands were quickly holding on to a single christmas lamp pretty early. The shell had been dropped on his way to the shiny goodness.
"I see you brought the young one." An old friendly voice muttered and Jacosa blinked in surprise. Astonishment yes, fear no. Sparkling light appeared on a Christmas tree, which was standing close to the small otter. "WOAH...soo coool!" Jacosa announced and just stared at the funny lights.
"Great, I need to remember this trick." Andraste chuckled as she moved into the room towards the older woman. Indeed she wasn't human. Her skin was blue, her lips of a very dark colour and the purple eyes were more than demanding. "My name is..."
"Andraste, I know." The older one grinned, which caused Ranjit to blush. "I'll take care of yer kid, don't worry." Her long dark hair was tied into a knot on her head and she truly looked like a real grandmother. A bit strange and different, but she had the flair.
"Jac, you'll stay here and be nice, alright ? I'm going to pick you up later, when we've finished." Andraste told her son, who didn't really seem to listen. "Uh huh, alright." Still amazed by the Christmas tree he didn't even turn around. "Don't worry, we'll understand each other. Won't we, Jacosa ?" The voice reminded the otter of water somehow and so he looked at the woman and smiled. "Shoore."
Andraste felt a bit strange to leave the otter with a strange fishwoman, but Ranjit didn't gave her a choice. He grabbed her hand, waved towards his mother and pulled her out of the house.
Picking up his seashell again Jacosa glanced at the new acquaintance. "What's your name ? Me is Cosa." He quickly added and started to gnaw on the shell. "You may call me Narra, little one." The older woman smiled and quickly tugged the shell out of the otter's mouth. "That's a special one, be careful."
A frown appeared on the otter's face and he sulked. "Doesn't belong to speshial. Is mine !" The grandmother laughed and held the shell close to Jacosa's ear. "Do you hear the sound ?" The otter nodded and had totally forgotten about his anger. "It's a voice, right ? Be careful there's someone inside." Quickly she offered him the shell again and now the otter looked at it with a smile. "Sowwy shell."

Four Spirits
"...and so they lived happily ever after." Narra finished and stroked through the otter's dark hair as she closed the book. Jacosa was still amazed and just stared at the pages with those pretty writings and pictures.
"That's where snow come from ?" He asked once again and his eyes stared intensively at the old woman. She still appeared like water to him and that was what made him feel extremely comfortable in the woman's lap. They had just read the fairy tale about "Frau Holle" and Jacosa had been unnaturally quite throughout the time.
"Doesn't seem like your Mommy and Daddy will come back tonight." The grandmother grinned and put the toddler onto the carpet carefully. Jacosa quickly wiggled towards his shell and hugged it tightly. Thinking about the words he just stared at the rough surface and the nice ribbon. He had toys he didn't know about ? "Whassat ?" The young one finally asked and moved to sit down on the soft floor to await another story.
"What do you mean, Jacosa ? You don't know who's your Mommy ?" The otter shook his head. At least he hadn't heard about it yet, he was pretty sure. The furry one busily stretched his black shirt and smiled. "Me got slippers. Look like fish." He grinned and wondered were they were. Probably at home with his toys, but without the shell. The shell was in his arms right now.
Narra moaned as she got up from her seat and rubbed her back. "Andraste is your Mommy, Jacosa. She's taking care of you and protects you and feeds you, doesn't she ?" The otter chewed on the shell and nodded. "Yells, too." He added, not sure if that was a Mommy indication, but at least he had mentioned it.
The grandmother laughed and nodded. "Yes. I am Ranjit's mommy, you know ?" Jacosa didn't really get the information, but just nodded. He felt awfully tired. He had been running around the huge house the whole day and had been allowed to do almost everything he had wanted to do. Take a bath, stare at the Christmas tree, listen to interesting stories...
He yawned and covered his mouth quickly with one paw. It looked quite ridiculous, but at least Andraste had told him to be polite. Actually it was a miracle that the otter remembered it.
"Come on, Jacosa. You can sleep in Ranjit's old bed." Narra smiled friendly and offered her blue hand to the young otter, who merrily accepted it. He was pulled onto his feet and followed the old lady into the warm room. Just for him ! The fourth wall baby jumped onto the bed and cuddled up the blankets Narra had put on the bed for him. "You don't fear the dark, do you ?"
Jacosa just shook his head and snuggled into the pillows. That was a nice feeling, he needed such kind of own room at home as well...and Christmas trees...and stories...
The otter fell asleep very quickly.
~~~~
Narra moved back into the dim light of the living room and rummaged around in an old cupboard. Old blue hands covered with wrinkles pulled out four small pieces of papyrus. They were lifted to her nose and as she smelt the age and the wisdom inside of them, Narra smiled.
Her feet carried her towards the fireplace and the warm light of the fire inside flickered soothingly. The four papers in her hands were showing some strange signs, which flickered just like the fire did. "There you are...I think it's time to call for you." The Nokke muttered as she flung one of the pieces into the flames.
It vanished with loud crackling and Narra smiled satified as suddenly a green something jumped out of the fire and turned around several times before simply staring at the lady, which was without doubt much taller than the little spirit. She had pretty brown hair and Christmas ornaments were floating around her head in a slowly. Her dress resembled a holly and it moved just very slightly as the spirit moved as well. The spirit's fur was of a light brown and now she pushed her sleeves over her hands and stared at the old woman in front of her.
"Where are the others ?" The spirit asked politely and Narra smiled. "Just about to come Holly, just about to come." Another piece of paper was tossed into the crackling flames and disappeared just like the first one. This time a red comet appeared and almost hit the Christmas tree as it finally materialized into a fox-like spirit. "Welcome Ribbon." Narra smirked as the fox shook his white hair with red tips and the little bell attached to it rang. He was dressed in a long white cloak and only his tail was visible below it. Red ribbons were all around his body.
"What's going on ? Where's the b*****d, where's the problem ? HUH ?!" He swirled around the room in haste and seemed to look at every single spot. "Shut up, the others aren't even here yet." Holly sighed and watched how Ribbon started to calm down.
In the meantime the third piece had vanished and a tiny light was slowly moving out of the firey and placed itself on the carpet close to the others. The shine intensified and another spirit appeared. He looked a bit like a grey cat, but had long black hair, which he wore in tails on both sides of his head. White candles were attached to his head and were floating around him. Indeed the spirit was blindfolded and wore an astonishing outfit of gold and white. Strange enough, an arrow was tied to his belly. "Oh oh oh, that's Light. Hey Light, did you see Snow ? Snow isn't here yet..." The spirit just bowed as Holly hit Ribbon's head to make him shut up finally.
"You can be glad that I don't have a real tongue. If I had, I would have bitten it off by now." He muttered, but finally kept silence.
Narra tossed the last piece into the fire and a loud scream echoed through the living room as an icey blue spirit hasted out of the fire and swirled around furiously as she hovered into the air. "Narra, you know I hate fire. Can't you do it differently ! You almost burned my precious CROWN !" The white spirit was clearly furious about the summoning and cursed a lot until it spotted the other ones, who couldn't stop laughing. She resembled a bunny and her long white ears were dangling down onto the clothes, which were just as icey blue and white as the spirit herself. A crown out of ice decorated her head and she wore a dress which deemed worthy an ice princess. Little bells were ringing as she moved through the air. Long hair was swiftly flowing across her back and she huffed.
"Children, calm down." Narra smiled as she took a seat on her comfortable armchair. The spirits were silent at once. "What do you wish for, Narra ?" Light spoke in a dark voice and the others rolled their eyes. "I've got a job for you. His name is Jacosa..."
