"You see?" Giselle said proudly, perhaps a bit too loudly for the library setting. "A little hard work always pays off. I knew there would be more reliable sources than the internet." There always was, after all.
Watching Tallulah pour over the sources the blond had dug up from the depths of the library, she flicked her watch, frowning when she saw the time. A little later than she would have liked, the Crystal student cleared her throat, waiting to have the other youth's full attention before she began to speak again. "Is there anything else, Tallulah? I imagine this is enough to give you a good start. Unfortunately," well, not really, "I have some homework to read over, make sure it is presentable, before my plans this evening."
A silence hung between them for a moment as Giselle blatantly ignored the awkwardness. "I expect you will keep me up to date on your findings?" Now in the circle, the blond felt she must make it explicitly clear she intended to stay in this little circle of knowledge.

"Sure, sure," replied Tallulah hastily as she tucked the books under her arms. "I'll just check these out on my student ID, my forms for inter-library loans are all in order- I wouldn't want to keep you if you have other plans."
She gave Giselle a grateful, if slightly forced, smile. She knew full well that the two of them would probably never be actual friends, but it was at least worth it to strive for civility. "This is great, really," she emphasized.
"Thank you so much for your help, I'm sorry to have taken so much of your time - if I find anything useful I'll be sure to let you know."
She stood and shouldered her bag. "Well, I think I can find my way up to the circulation desk by myself, so... see you around?"
Goodbyes were invariably awkward when you had a relationship best described as "Countries locked in a cold war for the next six centuries."
