"O-Oh my! That's so... exciting? I guess more disturbing, but I guess that's what we signed up for..." he swallowed again before reaching for his own cup, which he discovered he had unknowingly drained during their conversation. "I-I guess I should get some mo-" He stopped when he noticed she was also looking into an empty cup, "Would you like me to get you a refill also, ma'am?" He hadn't noticed the use of the more formal word; it was just a habit he had yet to learn to break.

"it... was an experience" She said, choosing her words. "I don't remember much after I got shot, its making things difficult now thought." she grinned, turning to look at at him "yeah, exactly, its what we signed up for, its not the last bullet we're going to take as Rockets." Tilting her head softly, lifting her eyebrows when he called her ma'am again, but gave him an amused look, holding her cup out. "that would be helpful Liam, thank you"

With a cup in his hand, saluting was difficult, but he managed something resembling a proper salute and grabbed her cup, too. "Wh-what would you like, ma- I mean, Miss Faleen? I really look Miltanshakes!"

Faleen shook her head, a small smile still on her lips "its okay Liam, I'm just a grunt" she added with a soft chuckle. "and just water please" reaching down to pick the book back up off of her lap, she took a moment to grab a napkin, drying off the table carefully before she place it back onto the surface and opened it again..

"I-I know ma'am, but it's a, uh... sign of respect, and polite." He smiled again before turning around to the drink machine which, he was proud to say, he had learned to master after only a few tries. The first was... unpleasant, but now he could get soda like a pro. He found the water switch and pressed it, filling first Faleen's cup and then his.
As he returned to the table, he placed both cups in their proper places before returning to his own seat. "I would have offered you some of Artie's Water Gun water. I hear it's purer than a mountain stream but... I'm not sure I trust it, you know? Sorry, Artie."
Artie, never one to miss an opportunity, gave Liam his familiar pout but spared him the spraying, obviously withholding because of Liam's 'insult' against his Water Gun.

"I understand, I was raised with the same mentality." Watching him go over, she took the moment of quiet to scan over the page she had turned to. she placed her other arm back onto her lap, hand cupping her side gently. shaking her hair from her face when Liam came back with her water, she thanked him quietly and reached out to pick it up. "are you okay with him doing that?" she asked, pointing a finger to the pokemon.

"O-oh, is Artie bothering you? He just likes attention. I guess it's because he's so young... He's not really all bad, promise." He smiled as he sipped his water and patted Artie on the head, who smile joyfully at the touch.
"Toto!" Artie agreed, smiling at Faleen too. Now it was time to make a good impression, it seemed.

Faleen shook her head, placing her cup back down "Oh I wasn't trying to tell you what to do, I just couldn't tell if he was being disrespectful or playful, it seems pretty hard to tell around here.... I can't read pokemon very well." Other then dark types... thank goodness for those.

"Oh, oh, okay then. Sor- I mean yes ma- I mean..." Liam stopped, flopped his head onto the table and mumbled something about how hard it was to be tough when he was just so damned meek. Of course, this came out as something like "Stuhbenmik" but he was starting to think he needed some major help if he was going to survive around here. Then he realized Faleen would probably be wondering what his sudden meltdown was all about. He forced himself erect, smiling once again. "Pl-please forgive my... o-oddities. Just... overwhelmed a bit, being new here..." He shook himself off before continuing, "I think I like Pokemon more than humans, though you're... uh, not so b-b-bad." He wasn't sure if this sounded creepy, but he wanted to at least let her know that he was grateful she was letting him sit with her and talking to him.

Eyebrows arched as she watched the young trainee slump down onto the table and gurgle a few indistinguishable words. "uh..." blinking when he pushed himself up again, listening politely to his explanation. Faleen offered a gentle smile, "I'm glad I could make a good impression, People aren't that bad, once you know what to expect. and don't sweat it being new, you'll get the hang of things." she took another sip from her cup before sitting it back down, folding her hands over her books. "If you don't mind me asking, just out of curiosity, why did you join Team Rocket?"

He poked at his Miltanburger as he mulled over her question. Why had he joined Team Rocket? Well, the real answer was right in front of him: Free food and lodging. But what kind of pathetic answer was that? Still, she hadn't asked for a frilly 'To become the greatest Rocket ever~' response. So he might as well tell her... right? "W-well... honestly... I w-was, you know... recruited?" and thus began his long tale, which he hadn't really expected to tell anyone, let alone a complete stranger in the cafeteria. He told her about how his parents died, some crook bought his farm, he had to say goodbye to all his friends (the ranch Pokemon, of course) and had set out on his own. And how, not even a whole town away, he had met the Rockets. He had been hungry and cold, and they had offered him a hot meal and a place to sleep. He couldn't say no. "A-and then... well, then they told me what, you know, uh... I mean, what Team Rocket r-really was."

Faleen sat quietly as he told his story, fingers wrapped loosely around her cup, elbows propped on the table. She observed him from over the rim of her drink, Hazel eyes blinking slowly at certain parts of his story. The Grunt couldn’t say she was very surprised, she didn’t want to make assumptions, but with his certain kind of temperament he did seem a little out of place. “And what do you think Rocket really is?” was her only question once his story was finished. She wasn’t above feeling for him, far from it, she felt that his story was extremely tragic, in a way she could almost relate. Liam had potential, far off potential, but still… if he could fit in, he would need to learn how to. Thats what Faleen wanted for him anyway.

Liam was actually ready for this question! "Team Rocket is a criminal organization dedicated to the capture and exploitation of Pokemon towards the ultimate goal of world domination!" Just like the handbook said. Nobody could say he didn't study, at least? "B-but, if you really wanna know what I-I-I think? Rocket is... all I have. Rocket is a promise I made that I would do everything in my power to help the Boss and all of the other Rocket members in any way possible, no matter what." And that was that. He knew what he had signed up for and he would be damned if he wasn't going to do what he promised. He might be meek, but he wasn't a liar, and he would never let his teammates down if he could help it.

This reply drew a pleasantly surprise look on Faleen's face, eyebrows arching slightly as her eyes blinked. A Small smile feathered the corners of her lips as she placed the cup back down on the table. "I can respect that quite a bit Liam" she told him tilting her head to the side as she lay her chin up on the back of her hands. "In a way, Team Rocket's all I have too, so I understand where you are coming from."

Oh! He had been so rude, talking all about himself like that! He hadn't even asked about Faleen's story! "Oh, um... if you don't mind me a-asking... why is that ma- I mean Faleen?"
