True, Spuntino, but you're so vehement in your opinions that sometimes disagreeing with you is intimidating.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 16, 2010 2:26 pm

The only time anyone should be afraid to disagree with me is if it's in offering bad advice to newcomers [such as telling people to buy from Lolita Kisama or Gloomth, or something along those lines], accusing someone of elitism when they offer a contrary opinion or criticism, or arguing with me on something that is a fact or falsehood rather than an opinion [like when someone says that lolita is cosplay]. I'm not going to condemn people for liking styles I don't, or certain pieces I don't, unless they are waaaay outside of the realm of lolita.

Fairy-kei is not one of those styles. I just don't care for it and haven't seen it done very well. haha

I happen to find Fairy Kei adorable.
I don't think I could pull it off well, but as soon as I have extra money, I'm certainly going to put together a proper outfit. xD

SPEAKING of Lolita Kisama, they have some nice vkei type shirts. And panda hats. I want them. :c
Off topic, but thought I'd put it out there.

@ C a t h a r s i s I dunno, I'd still like to try decora one of these days, I really like it. I wouldn't mind if people thought I was cosplaying from another decade either, my friends would know it's just me being me. Besides, with my afro and hot pants, I already look like a disco queen. :/ Don't some of us get laughed at for lolita anyway, and even if it wasn't as "cool" as it is on the web, I'd still dress up in it. I guess it has more to do with why and how you're doing it. Even trying to be something as common as an American prep or scene kid could get you laughed at if it's just not who you are. Flashy bright colors and extreme looks is def me, maybe if I give it a try I'll post some pics for you guys.

There is a small group of (mostly plus-size) girls who go for a Viking-lolita look. Fur trims instead of lace, lots of greens and browns (sometimes white and gray, too), and a few girls I know made hair pins from small horns. From what I've seen, braids are pretty common, too. But they still use the classic skirts, corsets, and styles. It's rather pretty when done right.

That sounds really interesting, I've never heard of it before. I wonder if there are any pictures of that style?

Mouse: Go ahead then! When I post pics of myself in my kandi raver outfits, a lot of times people think I'm trying to be decora because of all the bracelets, neons, and retro screenprints and stuff. I guess being laughed at in Lolita (and raver outfits) doesn't bother me because I'm so used to it. I think if I tried anything else out, it might bother me more because a new style might be less "me" than "me in lolita". XD

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the type of lolita that is mixed with visual Kei and J-rock, not sure if it has a name but I see it a lot in the "street snaps" sections of Cure and Shoxx magazine.

I tried to draw a viking lolita once but I failed horribly at the design. I'd love to see how someone made it work.

I am so glad the fairy-kei-loli-fusion fad has already died so fast. I know that lolita's pretty silly looking, but that was just beyond silly and into the realm of fell-into-the-hamper in most cases, sort of how most deco lolitas look like they just couldn't decide which hairclips to wear. =/
aw...
I actually like...that...style... sweatdrop

And I don't. ;p
No one's barred from liking it just because I think it looks bad. If that were the case, there'd be a lot fewer styles of clothing in this world. haha

Heh, that maybe true. I guess I like ti because how extreme it looks. But I can for sure see why most don't like the style because its really overwhelming.

Well, I don't think it's overwhelming just as fairy kei. Fairy kei alone is cute on it's own. It's the fusion with lolita that baffles the hell out of me and that I find I don't like, because it seems like the combination ends up making it really tacky rather than sweet?

Like, the fairy kei I've seen is very cotton candy, fluffy and cute.

The fairy kei lolita "blends" I've seen end up either looking like lolita with a slew of other things thrown on with very little planning, or else are fairy kei with AP accessories thrown on [not bad, but not a true fuse].

So.

Yeah.

I'm not very fond of deco-lolita either. Mostly for the same reason. Everyone either carbon copies the girls who do it well, or they look like they just couldn't decide what accessories to wear that day. I mean. I'm sure there are people out there who dislike how I dress, too. But that's everyone's prerogative, y'know?

I dislike how you dress! Well, actually no, but just making a point. sweatdrop

I get a lot of people at work telling me they love my clothes, but then when I make something for sale, they're like "....um... I have a friend who would love that. But I.... would never wear it." And that's okay. biggrin To each their own.

Oh, and as far as pics of these other lolita styles, anyone got any good ero loli or steamloli pics?

I don't see either very often, and really, I'm not even sure if I'm doing it (ero, I haven't tried steam yet, waiting on a few key items) right. I mean, it looks good, but is it really ero-loli?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 18, 2010 7:03 pm

Daily Lolita has some good ero coordinates. Theosakakoneko does some really good ones with the use of cage skirts and corsets. Personally, I like this one. It's sassy.

THanks!
Edit- wow, she's hot! I was really impressed by all of them, might be a forum to look into. (has finally been sucked in by LJ)

So, I run into snags here and there of people saying that cleavage, corsets on the outside, bloomers showing, and fishnet or some other type of weave or lace stockings, etc are NEVER okay, but I thought if done tastefully it was okay for ero lolita. Is there anything I should read up on (or completely disregard if you know of any bs out there) as far as ero-lolita rules? Or is the girl you showed me pretty much on point, because she looks amazing and that's the style I try to pull off.
