Linking pinkies with the blond, Audrey took a few deep, steadying breaths and smiled. After all, the friend thing worked in two directions, and this girl wouldn't be trying to mislead her. Would she? It didn't seem like that was the case, and really she was starting to like Eve for so calmly dealing with her strange behavior. "He's silly if he thinks I'm not interested still. I've done everything but run around half-naked in front of him waving flags with the band playing. But some guys are like that, mom said she basically had to do just that to get dad to take her seriously. I think I was born nine months later though, so that doesn't sound like a great plan." Not even remotely an option. Ever.
Bending to the floor, the teen came up with her cell phone and a wide smile. "You should absolutely give me your number. If I get a date, you will be one of the very first to know and you can help me out. I am woefully inept at dressing myself. I know you can't tell now, but I love neons and clashing, and adorable frilly skirts. Not great date material." Jada and Fallon had both told her this, though Pasha's idea of date wear was a bit more ostentatious than her normal style. It was hard to find a balance! "I'm sure between all of my girlfriends, we can come up with something workable, right?" Or a major disaster, she wasn't entirely sure which.
Taking another steadying breath, Audrey beamed in Eve's direction. "Also, thank you. I know this is a really weird situation and I'm normally not this crazy, I promise. Just stressed, with graduation and then this dumb leg, and boys are just one more complexity, you know?" Audrey hoped she knew. "Or girls, I guess, if that's how you go." She sorta went that way too, but it was easier to understand her own sex. After all, they had the same basic makeup!

Pinky swear done, she listened to Audrey's words, reacting with a few giggles, hand over her mouth. Elzo wasn't really particularly good at having serious relationships, she surmised mentally. He was more a flirt, jumping from one girl to another (or more appropriately, one bed to another), and his only serious commitment had seemed to be the girl name Linarite, as far as she knew. Half-naked, waving flags with the band playing? Was amusing and would probably get a reaction, but as Audrey said, it wasn't a particularly great plan.
"Of course!" She assured the other and taking Audrey's cellphone to key in her number as she talked. Eve was always willing to dish out fashion help to whoever needed it and was willing to receive help. And she always needed more normal girlfriend time. "The more opinions, the better!"
"Life gets really crazy sometimes." Eve said, just as she handed Audrey's phone back to her. She totally understood the thing about graduation, and the leg, but well, love was one complexity she didn't really want to delve in. "Both ways actually." She said casually with a shrug. "More towards boys though, I guess?" It was easier that way.

Noncommittal, which meant that Eve was either bouncing around like she'd heard Elzo did, or she just didn't have anyone worthwhile. Audrey was betting on the second, because the cool and together young woman in front of her just didn't seem the kind to bounce around. But hey, sometimes people were deceiving! Either way, it was immaterial and had no bearing on the conversation at hand.
Already, Audrey was scribbling pieces of advice on the front page of her book. No doubt at some point Mr. Gordon would yet again spot her perfidy. Then there would be another lecture about how there was a specific difference between books and notebooks, but the teen had never felt this particular sanctity.
Slowly, the topic turned from boys, to people in general, and before she knew it, Audrey jumped about a foot in the air when her phone went off with a loud fanfare to signal a text message. Once upon a time her mother had called her to come home, until the bluenette had stopped answering. Now her parents had learned the glory of SMS and would ruthlessly spam the teen until she relented and headed home. There was a light groan, and she simply chucked the thing into her bag with the abused literature before giving an apologetic smile to her companion.
"I hate to run out on you Eve, but that is my mom, who will not rest until I am home. I'm sorta grounded, today was my trial parole, can't upset them too bad." Holding out her hand for thanks, the bluenette unsteadily balanced herself on the evil crutches and sighed. "This is going to take forever." With goodbyes set, and promises to talk again soon exchanged, Audrey limped from the cafe and towards home, filled with promise for the future. Now, she'd just have to learn how to bake!
