"I'm not... bailing on you yet..." he muttered glancing at the floor.. Hug? Here?...
Public... witnesses... but...
He stood and cautiously, carefully moved and hugged Dem.
"Tell me what's bugging you..." He added as he squeezed him carefully about the shoulders.

"I didn't mean you were leaving, I just...before you leave..."
He cut off his explanation, simply leaning into the hug. The blonde even buried his face in the other's chest.
"What do you think?"
He mumbled miserably, not very keen on moving -or- really explaining things.

"Tell me..." He leaned back slightly trying to find those evasive acid-green eyes.
"Talk." he repeated...

Those green eyes looked anywhere but Zac, the boy even trying to move forward again and rebury his face. The shorter boy kept it up though, moving to look him in the face again and again until he finally gave in and spoke.
"Don't...like messing up. Or disappointing you, or upsetting you, or upsetting people we're close to..."
Once they started, the words simply kept tumbling out. Though those green eyes were looking elsewhere again.
"Or just...god are we doing the right thing? We have to be, we just -have- to be, but Beth man just....I can't believe I..."
He trailed off. Saying anything specific here would be bad. Very bad. That and he just couldn't bring himself to say it out loud anyway.
"And last night...I...d-don't like you mad at me. Were you mad at me? I wasn't -trying- to be a jerk I just...it was so messed up yesterday Z-man. SO messed up and I was hurting and freaked out and scared and I didn't want to be alone... Still don't want to be alone. But I can't ask that of you because Beth so needs you too and I'm in here anyway but it's not the same as this..."
The blonde moved, returning Z's hug.
"Not the same at all..."

"Dem..." he said and trailed off. He didn't want to get into this, not here, not now... did he EVER want to get into it?
It meant laying open a lot of how he felt about a lot of things.
"Dem... everyone dies eventually... you have to remember that. But, you gotta remember, I pick our targets with specific reasons in mind..." He squeezed him again to stop his own flow of words.
Had he been mad? Yes...yes he had. He'd been angry that what Dem said, and kept saying made him want to be more than one place at once. Seeing Dem wallowing in guilt just made it worse...
"Yes...I was angry" he admitted... "I hate seeing you wallowing in your own guilt, it's... it's like asking me to stay over and over... without asking. I feel worse because I didn't..." He shook his head scowling at the walls like it was their fault.
"I don't like... feeling bad because I went to beth and sent you here. The fact they KEPT you here... makes me think I should feel justified, but knowing your still sitting in the guilt pool, utterly removes that..."
"I'm angry at my mother, that it wasn't her... " he added though he knew that was his least reasonable anger. A

"I'm sorry man...and I totally understand why you couldn't stay and though this place sucks at least I'm getting help right? ...Though you're probably going to shove homework on me, aren't you?"
It seemed in the grand scheme of things he was done talking about 'serious business' too. It was making him feel bad, and it seemed to be making Z uncomfortable which was one of the last things he really wanted to do.
Even if some small part of him was -still- a bit upset Z had ditched him last night. When the shorter boy was in the hospital Demy had refused hospital treatment and instead took to wandering the halls waiting on word of Z's condition. Some small, jealous, unreasonable part of him had wanted the same unwavering love in return. But that part was getting beaten down by the reasonable side of his brain that argued Z simply did what was best in a horrible situation.
It wasn't a fun mental argument.
"Don't wanna do schoolwork man, argh..."

"Conveniently... I have forgotten your homework in my rush to come see you."
He answered dryly. It meant he had not forgotten at all but had -elected- to leave it behind.
"Conveniently... I 'assisted' you with your assignments since you were -much- to sore to fill them out yourself."
He did not add that looking at some of Dem's -old- homework, even that he helped with was enough to make his eye twitch at the rambling tangents that made his way onto his papers.
But he thought he'd done a reasonable approximation of Dem's own handiwork.

At least with his rambling, Demy never had a problem filling out the required pages for an assignment. Unfortunately said papers rarely made any sense, but that was a whole different issue entirely. Any proof-reading between the pair usually ended up lasting hours.
"You did? Z-man you're AWESOME, thank you!"
Despite being injured he found the strength to tug Z to sit beside him, making him just -that- much easier to hug. This was great news! No boring homework to make this place even worse. It was a simple gift, but one he was quite appreciative of.
It was also likely Z would have noticed how silly Demy's handwriting was. Simple things like stars for the dots on i's and the like set off his handwriting from everyone else.

"I'll admit trying to write like you...drives me up the -wall- by the way. I had to re-read three times just to make sure it had stars over all the 'i's and that weird loop you do for y's."
He crinkled his nose at the thought. Compared to his own small precise handwriting Dem's was a -scrawl.-

"Heeeey, at least my writing is rather unique, yeah?"
Demy didn't seem bothered by Z's dislike of his writing style. That was why -he- wrote like that and Z had...well his own style of writing. It was fine!
"I'd have a pretty hard time mimicking yours though. Not enough stars and stuff...and it's so tiny...."
For once he refrained from saying 'like you are'.

"it's not -tiny- its -small" he said as though that made all the difference in the world. "And its -neat-, you can actually read the majority of mine instead of this...this LOOPY thing you do." He bickered indignantly.
A pause...
"Wait, why were you trying to imitate mine?!"

"Tiny and small are like...the same thing aren't they?"
Demy had a puzzled look on his face, one hand to his chin as he thought this over.
"er...anyways! The loopy thing is neat!"
And by 'neat' he meant awesome, not easy to read.
"I dunnnnnooooo, was bored?"
He fished around in the drawer again, this time producing a piece of paper that had what Demy apparently thought passed as an attempt to write like Z. It, in fact, looked -nothing- like Z's writing. The paper was also covered in tons of tiny doodles.

He was actually relieved to see it looked nothing like his, and interested to note that little pandas had replaced the dots on the 'i's. Though he shot Dem 'a look' over that little detail.
"Well... now you have the game boy, I brought a few extra um...well theirs this 'Pokeing monsters" thing...and "Mario whatever..." He said remembering the little game cartridges in his pocket.
"Supposedly their good." he added, but there was really little doubt whom he'd have asked about games.

And little pandas drawn around the paper too! Even one with scribbled glowsticks. Clearly -that- was the best panda there.
"Poking monsters?....you mean Pokemon?"
The boy grinned excitedly and launched right into a ramble about the awesomeness that was Pokemon. It was only after a few more 'looks' from Z that he quieted back down.
"You're great Z, thanks a ton for bringing my games by!"

"Poking monsters... pokemon... same thing." He mumbled embarrassed that he'd forgotten the right name for it. Really he didn't understand the desire to play them at all... though he did occasionally watch over Dem's shoulder as he played.
As best he could tell it was grade schoolers traveling the countryside trying to capture 'cute' monsters that were otherwise seen as dangerous.
He wondered if anyone ever got eaten in the game.
"Is there anything else you want me to bring?" He added tilting his head. "I'll see if Beth is up to stop by later too, I just... didn't want to um... well I could have brought her this time just..." He shrugged.
He could have stopped in earlier, just there were just so many PEOPLE around.
