'That damn virus...' Ebony thought silently as her brows pulled into an angry frown at realizing how many lives it had effectively ruined in a sense. Yet it didn't remain long, softening into a more pained version of itself as her silver eyes momentarily viewed Dayo off to the side as her new guardian continued to catch the Brit up on the situation.
"I am...so very sorry Mr. Lekabel." she commented, a hand pressed over her heart as she bowed her head in a heartfelt apology of sorts. "We have first hand experience with the virus as I was picking Cordelia up the day it broke out. She was unfortunately one of the first to become infected, but it seems...it seems we got off far more luckier with how things turned out than we knew."
Ebony just couldn't keep from stealing more glances at the now well Eagle girl. It just pained her to know that she'd went through so much and without a guardian. She did wonder what happened of Mouse, but it seemed that would forever remain a mystery to them. And then the violet haired femme realized, perhaps it was best Dayo not remember anything of what transpired during that time. Now she had a clean slate, something the other previously infected Raevans would probably have prayed for, her Cordelia included.
A green crayon paused in mid-air, hovering just above a tree. Delia glanced up at the other Frei, her soulful greys unblinking, but full of clear emotion and unrest. "I...don't know..." was her pathetic answer. Her sharp wings flattened more to her back and the snake took a breathe in before sighing it back out. "I get this feeling from you and your man...something says I should be careful. I don't know why, just that it is."
She gave the redhead as comforting a smile as she could manage, "That's a promise easily kept for I only met her and her previous guardian once. Cordelia is not a problem either as she was born just this last October." Noticing as he extended his hand to her in an effort of polite and proper introduction, Ebony had to take a moment to recover from his sudden compliment. Lovely face? Surely he jest? If anyone had a lovely face, it would be him.
Lightly her tanned cheeks developed a tiny blush before she took his hand quickly, giving the appendage a good strong shake. "Ebony. Ebony Shade. Pleasure to meet you. And...I am sorry for the little bid war there, I sometimes...get carried away."

He gently grasped Ebony’s fingers. His red eyes lingered on her face, not really registering her firm handshake because of her short narrative. “It seems that I have found a kindred spirit in the matter of the infection. I am sorry for the pain you and your Raeven must have gone through during that trying time,” he said. Fathle looked down at their hands before he turned his wrist so that Ebony’s hand rested on top of his before he bowed over it and placed a polite kiss to it. “I am just glad they are both well now and the epidemic is but a memory.” Fathle released her hand and smiled warmly. “And please, do not apologize, Ms. Ebony Shade. It only made the auction exciting, something I cannot oft say of such an event.”
Ekundayo glanced over at Faye and the lady. Did they look dangerous? When she turned his golden eyes back to her coloring partner, one of her slender eyebrows was arched in a quizzical fashion. “Faye is not dangerous. He is very kind. He takes me to the park and I see the fish.” She frowned. It seemed as though whatever she was saying was not putting the other Raeven at her ease. Ekundayo was quiet for a moment as she carefully colored in the sun. “I am not mean either. We are both nice,” she finally added. She was really at a loss at what else to say. For some reason, it made her sad that the other girl was not very happy to meet her and Faye. Was there something the matter with them?
Fathle turned his head as a portly man came their way, carefully making a wide berth around the two Raevens. “Excuse me. I hate to interrupt but the auction house will be closing shortly and there is still the matter of your payment for the goods.” “Ah, of course,” he said. He turned back to Ebony. “If I may, may I escort you to a small coffee house not far from here? You are one of the first Raeven guardians I have met and I am afraid that I have grown greedy to become better acquainted. Only if you permit me to take up your time, of course. If you must go, I humbly understand.”

Like night quickly engulfing day, Cordelia felt her slight fear suddenly become greatly overshadowed by a new feeling of sadness. The dark girl frowned at such a rapid turn over and wondered why? Nothing sad was happening to her at the moment and yet...she felt this overwhelming want to cry or at the very least, to be comforted.
At Ekundayo's quietness, the basilisk averted her attention from her coloring and back to the eagle girl. Seeing the downcast expression upon the other Frei's face made Delia frown. Why was she sad? Was she the reason she was feeling this way now? Was it something else she could do? Well whatever the cause, she didn't want to feel this way anymore nor did she want to upset the other purposely. A cold, empathetic hand reached out for the others' warm digits and gently patted it. "Don't be sad. I'm sure you're very nice. Both of you. I'm sorry. Here." Cordelia closed the book and gave it to Dayo along with the crayons. With a tentative smile, "For you."
When he'd flipped her hand over and bent to kiss it, Ebony felt her heart beat faster at such an old fashioned, yet sweet gesture. It was rare to find men like this these days, men with almost otherworldly mannerisms especially towards women. It was something that caused her previous small blush to burn brighter as he murmured something and finally pulled away.
A tad breathless and lightheaded, Ebony quickly tried to reassemble her carefully crafted composure with a smug-like smile to the still fresh memory of their little bidding war. "It did make things more interesting, didn't it? Although..." She lightly tapped a manicured nail to her chin in thought, why had he stopped? Surely a man of his caliber was wealthy enough to continue on higher and yet, he hadn't.
She'd been about to ask this question when one of the auction staff interrupted, something Ebony found rude and thus scowled a bit at the man for. Yet it didn't last as she was reminded about her vase and immediately reached for her checkbook. "Of course, my apologizes." Making quick scrawls upon the paper before ripping it out dramatically, the British woman wrote a separate note with her home address. "Please have the vase sent here. Thank you."
At the mention of coffee and hearing Fathle admit to being greedy for more time with her, and Cordelia she had to remind herself, Ebony felt her heart pick up tempo once more. She desperately wanted to blurt out a resounding 'yes', but the woman also didn't want to seem too eager either. Carefully taking her time, the lilac haired female took a moment to look towards their wards before answering. "Coffee...would be lovely."

She turned her head when she felt the fear drain away from their little bubble. Now… it was sadness. But it was a kind of familiar sadness. A small part of Ekundayo seemed to understand that this was not Cordelia’s unique melancholy. It was her own brand of sadness, and it was merely being recycled into her body. The idea that she might influence someone else’s mood caught Ekundayo by surprise. She vaguely registered the dark-haired Raeven’s cool, gentle touch, her golden eyes dropping to watch as their fingers intertwined. “For me?” she asked, looking back up at Cordelia’s face quickly in disbelief. “But they are yours.” Ekundayo said this with such strong conviction. She had never received a gift before. Of course, Faye gave her things but her mind never really counted them. He was her guardian after all. His job was to make her happy. But this was a stranger…
Fathle waited as Ebony handed the rather antsy man her check before turning his full attention back toward her. “Thank you for humoring me with your presence, Ms. Shade,” he said with a warm smile. “I will return to escort you. Excuse me.” Fathle offered a small bow and led the auction house employee away to speak in private about his recent purchases. When he returned, there was an umbrella tucked underneath his arm. Fathle first approached the two Raevens. “My dear,” he said, addressing Ekundayo. “We are leaving so please get ready.” “But I want to stay with Cordelia a little longer,” she replied with a small frown. She was not ready to leave. She seemed to have affected the other Raeven’s mood and then she was trying to give away her coloring things. Things were much too interesting to leave now. Fathle smiled and looked over at Ebony’s charge. “Do not worry, my dear, we are leaving with Ms. Shade and Cordelia. She has agreed to spend more time with us.” “Ms. Shade?” Ekundayo asked as she looked over at the lavender-haired lady. Fathle nodded, watching the two of them with amusement. They were so like children but had the faces of adults. “Come, help Cordelia pick up her things and we shall leave together.”
Fathle straightened up and walked over toward Ebony. He gestured toward his umbrella. “The skies look heavy with rain. One cannot be too careful and I would not be able to forgive myself as a gentleman if the heavens marred your lovely complexion. He offered his arm and glanced back at the Raevens before turning a slight smile to Ebony again. “And shall we go, my lady?”

A smile began to spread slow upon Delia's lips as Ekundayo's mood shifted and once more influenced the younger girl. She pressed the items to the other more aggressively, almost urgently. "I want you to have them." As sweet as that sounded, the snake knew she could always get another book and crayons whenever she pleased so it wasn't a big lose if she gave them away. Besides, she really hadn't meant to make the other upset.
Her silver eyes watched him leave before turning up towards the ceiling and mouthing the words 'dear lord.' It was just too much. A man like that, a drop dead handsome one at that, shouldn't be paired with such class and charisma in this day and age. It wasn't fair and threw Ebony all off her game. Her father had been the closest she'd ever gotten to witnessing such mannerisms in use, but she'd never understood how the women were taken in by it all. Back then it had all seemed like an elaborate show, but now...now she understood. It was hard to think straight when a good looking guy spouted words with such ease and elegance.
In her slight daze, it took Ebony a moment to realize that Fathle had returned and was now addressing their Raevans. Finally the Brit composed herself enough to join them.
Meanwhile Cordelia shook her darkened head at the strange man, "No...they are Dayo's now." She grinned at having the chance to correct a guardian for once. Carefully she placed the items into the other Frei's hands and gave it a gentle squeeze so she'd hold onto them.
Ebony opened her mouth to speak, but the red head broke her train of thought when he spoke up. Her tanned cheeks reddened ever so slightly while Delia slipped over and entwined her arms around her woman's. "It's...it's raining?" she asked the man tentatively, grey orbs wide with anxiety as she looked between him and the umbrella he was toting.

Fathle watched as Cordelia carefully pressed her coloring book and crayons into Ekundayo’s hands and covered them with her own. “You are too kind and most generous, Ms. Cordelia,” he said with a smile that warmed his red eyes, which almost seemed as though they were glowing softly. “And what do you say to Ms. Cordelia, Ekundayo?” “Thank you,” she said quietly, holding the items to her chest. It was her first gift from a Raeven and it made her very happy. Ekundayo decided that the next time she went shopping with Faye she would find something for Cordelia.
“And no, my dear, it is not yet raining,” Fathle said reassuringly. It was not hard to tell from the Raeven’s body language that she seemed afraid of the prospect of summer showers. He turned toward Ekundayo before offering her the umbrella. “Ekundayo, how about you walk with Ms. Cordelia? And you may keep the umbrella with you if the heavens should decide to release a downpour so Ms. Cordelia will have immediate protection.” She took the rain-proof item and nodded sincerely as if she thought of this as a honor-bound duty. Ekundayo could feel the other Raeven’s anxiety and, after receiving a gift, she was determined to make Cordelia happy again. “Would you like to hold my hand?” she asked almost shyly as she tucked the coloring book and crayons under her arm. “You can hold the umbrella too.”
Fathle turned toward Ebony, his arm still offered out to her. “Though it may not be as traditional as an umbrella, my jacket should be quite effective in keeping you dry should it rain. I hope my arrangement pleases you. If I am mistaken, please feel free to disabuse me.”

Cordelia nodded eagerly and slipped from her guardian to wrap her arms around this new and somewhat strange eagle girl's. Previous doubt all but a dusty memory now, the basilisk giggled and whispered into Ekundayo's ear, "Your man talks like my woman." An idea that seemed to tickle the scaled girl immensely.
Quite suddenly Ebony felt her arm lessen in weight and watched as her Raevan blatantly abandoned her in favor of someone new. The action almost made the purple haired woman pout like her dark charge was known for, yet she managed to purse those lips tight to keep the hurt from showing.
Finally focusing back on Fathle and his offered arm, Ebony tentatively accepted. Seeing as she was lacking of her normal clinger, perhaps being the clingee for once might be a nice change of pace. Pushing a stray lilac strand back behind her ear, "Thank you, but please don't fret so much about me. I'm a big girl after all. I can handle getting a little wet." She teased, throwing this last part mostly towards Delia of which earned a most justified sticking out of the Frei's tongue.
Ebony laughed as they made their way out, her on Fathle's arm and Cordelia on Ekundayo's. Curious as a cat, the woman peered up at the striking male with a most sly smile. "So...Mr. Lekabel...care to share why you were most insistent on winning my vase?" The Brit had made sure to use and emphasis the word 'my' as to remind the man of whom laid claim to the spoils from earlier. Okay, maybe she was gloating just a skoosh as well. Either way, Ebony was quite curious to hear what the other thought of the piece she'd just spent a small fortune on.

Ekundayo’s happy mood immediately swelled up as she felt Cordelia hold onto her. She carefully adjusted her wings so they wouldn’t encroach upon the other girl’s space and made sure everything was in order before she started forward. “They do. A little,” she said with a smile. “Oh, and you can hold the umbrella.” Ekundayo gently pressed the item into Cordelia’s hands while she managed to make sure she didn’t drop any of the crayons or the coloring book. “Do you like your woman?” she asked after a moment of silence.
Fathle pulled Ebony close to him and led her out of the muggy auction house with a small laugh. “I apologize. I hope you do not consider my behavior to be suffocating. Old habits are hard to break for an old dog such as myself,” he said with a good natured smile. He glanced up at the skies and noted their dark grey colors. They were ripe for rain. Fathle could smell it in the air and feel the very electricity in the space around him. He dropped his gaze toward the young woman at his side and caught her gaze as she spoke. He smiled at Ebony’s emphasis on the word ‘my.’ “Why, Ms. Shade, I did not pin you as a cruel mistress,” he said a teasing quirk lifting the edges of his red lips. “But of course, I suppose you have every right. You are the winner, after all.” Fathle took a moment to answer Ebony’s question right off, his eyes keeping note of the two Raevens before them. “And I desired the vase for it looked very similar in design to a vase that has been in my family. Perhaps it is not the same but the careful workmanship seems to attest to the same artist. And I cannot say I begrudge you for winning, Ms. Shade, considering our small bidding war led to a more favorable chance encounter,” Fathle said with a smile.
He was a bit taller than the pretty woman on his arm. Every time Ebony went to look up at him, Fathle could not help but notice the curve of her long neck. His red eyes flickered to the expanse of skin but just as quickly returned to her face. It was just an instinctual interest that still managed to make his fangs itch. However, the moment had passed before it was even really noted.

While Dayo juggled with carrying the items Cordelia had so graciously gifted her, the snake did as she was told and took hold of the rain shield otherwise known as an umbrella. Her hands held onto it tightly, her already pale knuckles becoming porcelain due to the strain. Obviously the snake need not hold onto it so, but she was deathly afraid of getting wet. The others couldn't understand how it felt as every molecule of water felt like it was slowly leeching away your strength and energy, as if stealing a piece of yourself. It was a feeling Delia did not want to experience again if she could help it.
Cordelia turned curiously to the eagle then. Did she like her woman? That was a silly question if she'd ever heard one. Ebby was her guardian, her rock. Anything she needed or wanted, the Brit gave to her readily. That was of course an exaggeration as Ebony did indeed, from time to time, not give the basilisk what she wanted. Still, the scaly girl knew she could count on the human for almost anything.
"Of course! She's mine!" answered the smoke Raevan merrily. There was a moment of pause before the girl continued. "Why? Don't you like your man?" There was a touch of melancholy in her voice, concerned that her new friend might not be as happy as she was with her guardian.
"On the contrary, I find it rather refreshing." she replied, but blushed at being so utterly honest with her opinion. Though seriously, there was nothing to be embarrassed about really. What woman wouldn't give to be treated as such in this day and age? Like she was the world, like she was priceless. Hell they wrote books about it!
The blood in her veins only quickened in pace, splashing her tanned cheeks with more rouge than they were use to. Honestly, Fathle needed to stop with the clever compliments else she'd be bleeding out her pores soon enough from all the heat and pressure building there.
Thus in an effort to collect herself, Ebony cleared her throat lightly before continuing in their conversation. "I suppose...if merely for the sake of knowing, I could lend you the vase. Although..." Shaking her earlier self aside finally, the Brit's eyes shone with a light of mischief. "...if you were still keen on acquiring the piece, I could be swayed. Given the right incentive." Ebony grinned, her greedy nature wondering just what sort of delicious goods someone of Fathle's stature could possess.

Ekundayo smiled at Cordelia’s immediate and enthusiastic answer before she shook her head to shake off her new friend’s new concern. Faye... He was hers to command. A person who was to take care of her and make her happy. Even Ekundayo didn’t realize how dependent she was on him until Faye spoke of another person – a woman – with the same soft affection in his voice that he used to speak to her. She had felt a strange feeling then. A sort of stabbing in her chest as she realized that she liked having her guardian’s attention fully on her. “I do. But I didn’t like him at first.” Ekundayo blinked as a sort of flicker of understanding suddenly sparked in her mind. Her golden eyes stared knowingly at Cordelia. “You said you had a feeling about him. I did too. I used to live at the lab with Alex. I didn’t want to leave with him but I’m happy now.”
They were at a crosswalk and she glanced back at Faye and caught his eye. He smiled at her and gestured toward a small café right across the street. Ekundayo nodded at this silent communication before turning her attention back to Cordelia as they waited for the small stick man to show up to say they could walk across. “Why are you still scared?” she asked, gently squeezing the Raeven’s arm. Her eyes dropped to Cordelia’s hands, which were gripping the umbrella with great force. “Why are you afraid of the rain?” Ekundayo studied her thoughtfully and didn’t really give the other girl a chance to answer her as she blurted out her next thoughts. “I think I can take away your fear. I can take in your feelings. Do you want me to try? I won’t if you don’t want me to,” she said solemnly.
Fathle laughed with good humor at Ebony’s suggestion. “You are a wily business woman, my dear Ms. Shade,” he said. He could see a pretty blush touching the Ebony’s cheeks, and Fathle found himself a bit charmed by the sight of it. One could say that a blushing woman was one of life’s greatest compliments. Fathle smiled . He refrained from pointing out her rosy cheeks and complimenting them; he knew that such a comment might cross a social line and only make her facial symptom worse. Fathle paused a moment in their pleasant banter as they crossed the street and approached the small café’s outdoor tables. He watched Ekundayo choose one that had just been recently cleaned off and setting down her new gifts from Cordelia before gesturing to the other Raeven to join her; he chose a separate one for Ebony and himself. Fathle stepped behind one of the small chairs and pulled it out for the young woman. A playful smile lifted the corner of his mouth. “The right incentive… A small trade then? I am not sure what suits you in your tastes but perhaps you would like to view my collection of antiques at your leisure.”

So she had the same inkling of the man too? As if something was just bubbling beneath that calm, collected exterior? Surely Ebony held that description to herself in a certain degree, but it wasn't the same. When the Brit held herself in check, she tended to suppress her emotions and become what people could only describe as cold or indifferent to the rest of the world. Ekundayo's guardian...Cordelia felt like he was like a lounging cat just waiting to pounce. Despite her concerns, the man seemed a fairly decent guardian and Delia could not argue so long as her new friend was happy.
As they approached an intersection crossing, the snake dropped her gaze momentarily as they waited. The girl wasn't sure how to answer that question nor was she certain she wanted to. It was a bit embarrassing admitting to being afraid of something as common place as water or in this instance, rain. Still the smoky Frei shivered unpleasantly at the thought of being wet.
Luckily for her, just when Delia was gathering the courage to be forthright with downy haired femme, Dayo quickly intercepted with an almost eager solution. Blinking very slowly, the girl thought. Did she want the fear to go away? Of course! Yet...the way the other worded it, 'I can take in your feelings', did little to make her jump for joy at the idea. If Ekundayo took the feelings from her only to place them onto herself, how would that help anyone?
Reluctant, she shook her head. "No, that is all right. I must..." Must what? Suffer alone? No, simply she needed to come to terms with her fears herself. "I must deal with this on my own. Thank you though." No longer wanting to dwell on this depressing topic, Delia moved onto happier thoughts. "So how is Alex? I haven't seen her in a long while. Zul too." The girl gave a sigh of longing then. Oh how the Frei missed her tri-horned friend.
The British woman flashed a sly, yet pleased smile at the compliment. Indeed the woman was and could rarely be made the fool. Yet fool she had felt much in their conversing, thus it was with great relief that Ebony finally relaxed and felt more like her normal, non-blushing self. A touch of it though would resurface when he pulled the chair out for her so gentlemanly, but not enough to cause the woman to lapse back into her previous nerves.
"Thank you." she said before sitting, a quick eye to view the Raevans, making sure they were getting along well, before bringing them back to rest on Fathle's chiseled features. Up close the red of both his eyes and hair seemed even more vibrant against his pale skin. "And yes, a private viewing would be lovely. I take it you are an avid collector then? Any specific periods you are interested in? Or is it just collecting for the sake of collecting?"

“Okay. If you are sure,” she said with a smile. She had felt and heard the hesitation in Cordelia’s voice but did not press her. Ekundayo understood somewhat that emotions were personal things and that, although she could know them, people didn’t always wish for them to be known. Ekundayo looked away from Cordelia to spread her fingers against the metal lattice of the outside table. She liked the feeling of the cool metal pressing against her hands. She tried to remember if she had ever been here with Faye. Perhaps she had. Ekundayo didn’t catch a lot of people staring at her though she definitely saw eyes linger on her new friend; she must have been old news to them now. Ekundayo looked up at the mention of Alex. “I believe she is okay. I haven’t seen her in a while,” she said. “And who is Zul?” Ekundayo glanced up when she saw movement close to her table. A waiter had ventured out to greet them. Yes, she was sure she had been here before. He had admired her and asked her if she wanted anything. Ekundayo also remembered feeling slightly annoyed that Faye had said no. She could not eat like a human yet but it would have been nice to just order something from the man.
“Hello, may I get you anything?” Fathle looked up at the waiter and nodded politely. “Just a small cup of coffee if I may and whatever the lady wishes to drink or eat.” He said this last part with a small smile upon his lips and he glanced over at Ebony to gage her reaction. Fathle waited for the waiter to leave before continuing. “I suppose it is collecting for the sake of collecting. However, there is some selfish direction in my hoarding. I try to find old pieces that are connected to my family in some way.” It was a partial truth but it was believable. “And for you, Ms. Shade? What does the exciting world of antique collecting hold for you, if I may be so bold?”

One moment her lips were smiling and the next they were miles apart, mouth hanging wide open in utter disbelief. She didn't know who Zul was?! How could this be?! It would be a minute or so before Cordelia could manage her face back into a more acceptable form, the words of her guardian echoing in her head about catching flies or some other nonsense.
"Zul is Alex's Raevan. He's super awesome!" Cordelia replied with great pride in her demonic friend. Shaking her dark tresses, "I just can't belief you haven't met him yet. From what I hear, if a new Raevan's met Alex then they would meet him too. Usually him first in that case." The snake chewed thoughtfully on her bottom lip, finding the news fairly out of character for Zul not to be there for something like that. It was truly odd.
"Coffee as well. Black please." Ebony responded without hesitation. She would be having a long night later and could use the caffeine's undiluted strength. Once the waiter nodded in understanding and left, the Brit brushed her lavender hair back over her shoulders and out of her line of view of Fathle as her attention returned to him.
For someone often prone to telling half truths, Ebony was not one to easily recognize them used against her. As much as she prided on things not getting past her, a hell of a lot did merely because she was usually wrapped up in her own web of lies. "That sounds nice. To be able to trace your family's heritage through artifacts." The woman sounded a tad jealous at the idea, for she had nothing that could even remotely tie her back to her real origins. Just her first name and that wasn't much to go by.
"As for me..." The Brit paused for a moment to accept one of the two cups the waiter had quickly retrieved for the duo. "Thank you." Once she was sure he was not eavesdropping on their conversation, "It's more work than hobby. I collect things, valuable objects to be precise, for high paying clients. Although, I suppose I have a bit of want for lavish items myself. Occupational hazard if you will."

Ekundayo couldn’t help but smile at Cordelia’s rather comedic reaction. She tilted her head with some mild confusion when her new friend explained that Zul was a Raeven. Alex’s Raeven. Ekundayo’s smile faltered slightly as she tried to remember her very first memories. Everyone had told her she had been born in the Lab. Yes… Alex had been there but she did not remember another Raeven. From the moment that she could remember, it had been the dark-haired woman that had become somewhat of a mother-figure to her. “No…,” she said, shaking her head slowly. “All I remember is Alex. You’re the first person I’ve met that looks like me.” Ekundayo glanced down at her half-formed body. “How many of us are there?”
Fathle’s red eyes flicked down toward his pale hands, rubbing the base of his ring finger. “Indeed. It is a very illuminating journey.” He looked up once more to accept their drinks and idly stirring the dark liquid. Fathle carefully pressed the porcelain edge to his lips but did not swallow. Anything other than blood tasted like dirt on his tongue so he tried not to ingest any food or drink if he could help it. “I see… so you are more of a middle man – excuse me – middle woman in your business dealings. And I cannot fault you for your good tastes,” he said with a small smile. “It is hard not to desire the objects that you see so often around you.”
“Now, about that private viewing you mentioned…” he started as he leaned back into his chair and loosely crossed his legs. A small smile of a mischievous nature lifted the corner of his lips. “Of course, I will only agree to such a thing if you acquiesce to dinner beforehand. And perhaps satisfy my curiosity of a beautiful stranger.” Fathle reached over and took his hot cup in his hands and let the coffee warm up his pale fingers. “May I ask how you became involved with Raevens?” he asked, his red eyes watching Ebony over the top of his steaming mug.

"The very first?" Cordelia was a little awed by this new revelation and it showed in her face as her grey eyes shone with a twinkle of pride. This must be the same feeling Zul felt every time he met with a newborn. She could see why he'd enjoy doing it, the feeling was nice, but it still didn't explain why he hadn't been there for Ekundayo.
Placing that thought aside for now, Delia quickly addressed the eagle's question. "How many? Um well..." Using her fingers to mark off each one she mentions, "There's Vyn, and Basil, and Pasha, and Lazarus, and Ripley and well Zul of course. Um..." She would have mentioned Lucia, but seeing as she was still upset about what the other had tried to do to her, Cordelia felt no reason to bring the kitten up.
"I guess I don't really know how many, but there's lots more than those. Ebby says new ones will be coming soon from the Lab." Her face soured some at remembering a particular one she absolutely knew was in the process of being created as they spoke. A virus Raevan, one with abilities that could make monsters out of all of them if it so chose. The serpent gave a little shiver, but again didn't make mention of something so unpleasant.
Instead, Cordelia gave Dayo her best smile. "I'd love to meet more. You should too. If you want, I can introduce you to some of my friends."
If she'd noticed him not partaking in his own beverage, Ebony didn't show it nor make mention of it either. Then again it wasn't really her business of why he did what he did. Perhaps Fathle was just odd. Not like she hadn't meet plenty of those kinds of folk before.
She smiled back when he generously edited his statement and replaced 'man' with 'woman'. This one certainly wasn't a stranger to speaking with the opposite sex. And...he certainly knew how to barter. Ebony blushed again, but this time hid it slyly by slowly sipping from her coffee. Within that time she quickly tried to think of a reason to refuse such an offer, yet...the Brit just couldn't think of one. Here was a totally, drop-dead gorgeous man with highly respectable taste and manners, and he wanted to go to dinner with HER! She'd be crazy to turn him down, right?
Having taken longer with her sip than she'd meant to, Ebony carefully placed it down in front of her, now empty except for a few drops. "I'll accept those terms." she replied, not really trying to hide the little smile that spread. "And I got involved by accident really. The Lab was having some sort of festival in Barton and I happened upon it. From there I befriended one of the guardians, Aphismet, and well it sort of snowballed from there. How about yourself?"
