Gabbie couldn't help shaking her head and laughing silently. She had a feeling she'd be one of the first tagged given she couldn't run. Still... crutches didn't propel a body in the normal way, so there was a chance she could prolong her life as a Wild Polo. Pulling herself upright, she steadied herself on her crutches and then began moving.
As she thought, the bell still jingled, but it didn't sound quite the same as the jingles of the unimpaired students. Grinning, Gabbie went through a kind of move-move-rest-move-move-move-rest pattern. So the Marcos weren't sand worms, but maybe the same kind of no-pattern pattern thing could still work against them.

Since she didn't have the advantage of being silent, Calintha decided that she would have the advantage of being smart. At the initial flurry of jingling noises as the students all ran, the girl tucked herself away into a corner and stood still. She tucked the arm with the bell up, making sure that no sudden movements would jar it into life. It was certianly interesting though, watching from a removed standpoint. All of the Polo's were running around, being chased by the three Marco's (man, Dr. Wes better make sure he's carefully where he puts his hands as he blindly grabs for students!) who were flailing about with their blindfolds. It was an interesting take on the assignment, though it made Calintha wonder why someone wouldn't just pull a 'fish out of water' and take off their bell. Or, you know, stand still, like she was. Either way, Cali was content to just stand and watch, aware of her surroundings in case someone decided to get too close.

Vanessa smiled as Carter nudged her, and winked at him as he moved passed her to get his handkerchief. "Oh, I hope it is. Marco Polo's for little kids."
As good-natured and honest as the auburn-haired girl was, she also loved chaos; causing it, watching it, living it- in its friendliest forms, of course. Vanessa enjoyed stopping bullies and helping out and causing a little bit of an uproar in the process, not the other way around. Inciting trouble and hurting people were her anti-hobbies.
She beamed at Dr. Wes's compliment, beyond glad that she'd been correct, and then frowned in confusion when her bell refused to jingle.
He told them to run and Vanessa watched as everybody else leapt into action, but remained standing where she was, examining the silent instrument around her neck with a critical eye.
"Dr Wes," she called, perplexed, "I think my bell is broken."

Perry was currently engaged in an attempt to stalk and bring down the elusive wild Gabbie, which was sort of an amusing thing to watch: he had his hands tenatively extended in front of him at what was more or less an average shoulder height for a student, and was creeping carefully forward with each swing of the crutches, and pausing momentarily to listen whenever Gabbie stopped.
This was interrupted, however, by Vanessa calling to him -- his head swung around, and above the blindfold one could make out a pitched eyebrow. "Hold that thought, Rae," he answered, "or better yet, keep thinking about it while you try not to get eaten."
Then he went back to stalking poor Gabbie.

Tate had groaned at the announcement of the game. The last thing she wanted to do was wander around blindly while her classmates fled. But she sighed, tugging on her pigtail, and got down to it eventually--she grabbed two students who had the misfortune to run past her completely on accident, then promptly tripped over someone's feet. Not the most graceful of predators, no, but she shoved herself back up. She'd started playing, might as well keep it up.
It just so happened she was near Vanessa when she called out. This might have been luck for Tate, or it might have been misfortune for the younger girl; she turned towards the voice and lunged. So her bell was quiet, huh? Her voice was still pretty loud.

Dr. Wes's answer was less than satisfactory, and Vanessa opened her mouth to tell him so, but was stopped short when Tate's blindfolded face came flying out of nowhere like a bat out of hell. Only probably not that intimidating. She shrieked in surprise and darted out of the way, avoiding the other girl's fingertips by little more than an inch.
The bell flopped uselessly against the fabric of her t-shirt, but Vanessa had forgotten about it. She loved games, no matter how childish, and was excited about this. If classes kept up like this, biology would quickly become her favourite subject.
"POLO!" She yelled at Tate, sniggering under her breath, and danced out of reach.

Feeling pleased that no one had caught her yet, Gabbie decided that her arms and shoulders could use a slightly longer break. Pausing in her 'running', she leaned against the crutches, trying to not breathe too loudly or allow the amused laughter to burble out of her. She certainly had not noticed that she was being stalked.
After a few moments to allow her shoulders to stop aching she heard Vanessa say something about her bell not working and Mr. Westerman answering her. Since in the general confusion everyone was fairly spread out, she didn't stop to think that her teacher sounded as if he wasn't all that far off. She just shook her head in condemnation of Vanessa spoiling her advantage. And without thinking raised the arm with the bell attached to run her fingers through her bright green hair and brush loose strands from her eyes.

Tate caught herself, a little awkwardly. Her first impulse was to yell <******** she was in class. That sort of thing got you written up, and besides that she was going to get freaking Vanessa Rae if it was the last thing she did.
Urgh.
The idiot was still talking. Didn't she know that the whole point was not to get caught. But then--Tate picked herself up. "Maaaarco!"
If everything went according to plan, Vanessa would answer again.

Calintha was only a few feet from Gabbie separated by the beginning of the bleachers, whom was probably having a difficult time with the event due to her crutches. It seemed to be working fairly well, though her strange crab-like movements were being followed by Dr. Wes himself. The blonde girl made a few frantic movements in order to catch the other girls attention, making sure not to disturb her own bell. She pointed in the general direction of Gabbie and mouthed BEHIND YOU, as big as she could. Calintha almost winced when the other girl ran a hand through her hair, making the small bell tingle rather loudly. She hoped at the very least her warning would not allow the girl with crutches to get 'eaten' by the Marco's.

"Aw yessssss!" Carter clenched his fist before throwing it up and into the air in a victorious pump. THIS was how class should be like! For him, at least. It was really too bad that math classes these days didn't let you run around after various students with numbers taped to their backs to solve problems ala Number Muncher, or even let you out of your seat in the first place for that matter. Nevertheless, today would be a day that highlighted the entire week for Carter.
The boy turned vaguely in Dr. Wes' direction as he told them the rules. So... he just had to blindly run after the sound of the bells? That should be easy! When the bells started chiming, Carter began running forward in response.
TCHUNMP!
...Right into the bleachers.
"Aagh! Ow, ow, ow!" He hopped backward and shook his leg out, peering down through his blindfold. Right, he did have his little window, didn't he? "That didn't count!" He announced, waving his hand as if to dismiss the incident. "That totally didn't count!"
Nursing his stinging pride and dignity, the boy first hobbled, paused, shook his leg again, then began stalking the elusive jingling bells. A lucky lunge managed to land him his first victim, while a repeated attempt allowed him to perform an impressive belly-flop onto the ground. "Owww. Okay, that didn't count either! Aaaugh."

She watched as Tate picked herself up and then, predictably, responded in the precise fashion the other girl expected her too.
"Pooooolloooo."
Fortunately for Vanessa, the rampant amount of stupidity she possessed was also mercifully accompanied by a competitive streak that compelled her to be kick a** at almost everything. Or, at least, try to be. This only came in handy when she was playing sports, or saving the lives of teal-haired boys from starving dogs, but it still counted.
Sort of.
She grinned and ran in wide circles around Tate, pausing for only a moment to make sure that Carter hadn't hurt himself too badly. His collision with the bleachers was a little funny, she had to admit, but Vanessa also took the pain of other people very seriously. She was relieved when he jumped right back into the game, and even giggled at his belly-flop.

Dr. Westerman had paused again in tune with Gabbie's short moment of silence, his head tilted quizzically in the the direction he had last heard the sound in. For anyone who cared to look, his expression was a bit comically serious, his brow slightly furrowed in concentration as he kept an ear out for all the noise happening in the field -- to be fair, as their supervisor he had an obligation to pay more attention to everyone, but still -- Carter clanging against the bleachers was something that cut into the teacher's focus altogether, and for a second his hand wavered over his blindfold just in case anything had gone amiss.
The kid sounded like he was alright, though, if not a little pridewounded. "Careful, kiddo," he called out anyway, "I don't wanna end up giving you a piggyback ride to the nurse's office if I can help it."
It had been a good few minutes by this point and about half of the class had ended up on the bleachers, taking advantage of Perry's temporary case of blindness to check and send off text messages. There was also a small stack of question worksheets on the end of the front row for ousted students to fill out or look over while they waited, which were taken and scanned with varying degrees of interest or listlessness.
Gabbie was jingling away for those couple of seconds at those loose strands of hair, and their teacher was back on the prowl, having reached out and tagged another ringer or two while closing the distance (for a man who seemed so slow and relaxed all the time, he had the reflexes of a cobra). Depending on how fast Gabbie could react, Calintha's warning might have been a second too late -- Perry's hand was just a handful of inches away from tapping the girl on the wrist.

From the corner of her eye, Gabbie caught a flurry of movement. Freezing, she glanced up and saw Calintha waving at her and pointing. It took a moment, but she caught the mouthed words and froze completely. Very carefully glancing back over her shoulder, she saw how close Mr. Westerman was.
As far as she could tell, she had two choices. Stand still and let herself be tagged. Or attempt some bizarre sideways slide-hop to get herself out of the way. She considered a moment and decided to give in to the inevitable since she didn't feel like performing magic tricks with her crutches.
She waited patiently for the teacher to tap her wrist and grinned.
"You wouldn't have caught me if I hadn't had the crutches y'know," she said as he touched her wrist, hoping he'd hear the cheerful amusement in her voice and not think she was whining.
