kage no neko Boyfriend has a question I don't quite know the answer to. Some groups of Christians, the girls only wear skirts. Is there a reasoning for this? I knew a girl who did that, but I don't remember her answer for it. No idea. I'm not a girl, nor have I ever been required to wear a skirt. Of course, it would help if the question were more specific, as different sects of Christianity would have different reasons for this.

I just know some branches of Christianity, the girls only wear skirts. Like they're forbidden to wear pants.. sweatdrop

Of course, it would help if the question were more specific, as different sects of Christianity would have different reasons for this. i think i got this one. in some sects of the Amish and Mormons think that a proper woman can only wear skirts, because thats what a woman wears, and if she wears pants its cross dressing and therefore a sin. i dont know for sure what religions do that though.

No I have a classmate, the girl could only wear skirts, and theyre called Pentacostal. They grow their hair long, and wear only skirts, because they are supposed to express their femininity. Dont ask me why pants to them are so forbidden, I have no clue sweatdrop

I've seen that practice among a group of Jehovah's Witnesses, and also on that "19 kids and counting" show. I just don't know what religion they practice. Does anyone know?

entervixen oODeliriumOo I used to go to Christian church services with my friend Jessica. This was a condition thought up by her parents. If I wanted to spend the night at her house, then I'd have to go to church with them the next morning. I did, but only because I liked Jessica. The services were frightening, to say the least. It looked as if all the parishioners had just taken shrooms. No joke. I understand that not all Christian gatherings are like this, but I just couldn't handle the dancing, jumping, shouting, and "speaking in tongues." I was raised Catholic, so I'm used to quiet prayer, and softly sung hymns. This "new age--holy roller" Christianity is definitely meant for extroverted individuals (not me). Just sharing wink Your post threw me off as my name is actually Jessica, lol. So for a second I was like, "my parents never did that..." then realized haha. Further proof that 98% of Americans are named Jessica. my name isn't jessica. >.> ^__^

I know my great grandfather thought women should only wear skirts, so my great grandmother was never allowed to wear pants. She wore pants to his funeral, and hasn't touched a skirt since. xd

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians too. Not sure about that "19 kids and counting" show. Fun fact: the name of the Christian God is Jehovah.

After a brief discussion with my mother, I wanted to tell everyone that these descriptions about what women are required to wear are very specific to each individual sect of Christianity. Most of the different branches of Christianity have no requirement for dress. The most common example of dress code I can think of is dressing nice when you go to church and that's mainly an older school of thought where you were showing your respect when you enter God's house. Some of the more extreme sects of Pentacostal or Latter Day Saints have very specific requirements for appearance. But those are really the extreme ones. As far as I know, there is nothing in the bible stating what anyone needs to wear.

supposedly, the reason behind the rule that women must wear skirts and long hair, and boys pants and short hair, is because skirts and long hair are easy ways to tell if a person is a female. if they aren't, it means you have to look elsewhere to check. and looking elsewhere is the devil's work. see here: http://www.momof9splace.com/modesty3.htmli guess it makes sense, for reasons of modesty and propriety.... but i'm a fan of speaking to the person, not the gender, so it really doesn't matter to me what anyone wears, regarding type of clothing.

The occult is the occult. It is, it exists. I don't know a whole lot about it. I've never had any particular desire to research it. And As for tarot cards, they're not really anything dangerous. I've used them before, and they always just been for me a way of explaining things that I already knew but didn't want to realize.
