"Alfredo...or Meat sauce?" He asked... but he was curious now, to learn that the photo album had not been grabbed from the house. Demy had been unconscious, so who...the senshi? Why would they take such a thing?
"Odd..." he said after a moment realizing he hadn't spoken. "Not...the same person who..." he trailed off "You don't think...I mean perhaps..."

"Meat sauce please?" She still eyed him as he cooked. She now guessed he was making some sort of spaghetti- but Zac was known to throw curve balls so we shall see.
"I honestly have no clue why someone would take something as lame as a photo album... Maybe it was blown from the house and some little kid got it?" She mused- pretending to be lost in thought. "Some of the photos are missing too."
Beth slouched into the chair. "Maybe someone with a sick sense of humor? I'm just glad i found it..."

He fished in another cupboard looking for the pasta he'd gotten last time he had been home and sighed to see it half gone, buttered noodles or something similar had almost undoubtedly been the fate of them. At least there should be enough for them.
"Is Mini Penne alright?" He asked as he put the water on to boil and fished out a pack of ground beef.

"Anything is ok.' She replied with a smile. Honestly she was telling the truth- she probably wouldn't eat much. The thought of food made her a little sick in the stomach.... or was that hunger? She wouldn't be able to tell until she actually ate something.
"Thank you Zack- for everything. I mean it. I could not have asked for a better cousin."
This was followed by an awkward silence. "So...has this place always been so...bare?" She didn't remember it being THIS bad.

"Meatballs?" He added as he separated the meat into what he'd need for sauce and what would be left over, and then looked around almost thoughtful, as though he never truly thought of how spartan it was.
It was...utterly, impersonal. TV dinners and instant foods were the staples of the kitchen, almost no fruit, bottled waters and paper plates.
"... It's... been worse the longer Father has been gone. She spends most of her time at work." He said calmly, almost as though he were referring to a stranger or a room mate, not his own mother.

"Why have you not come over more often then? Im sure we could have made you food and a safe place to sleep. Well the food would be made by m-" She cut herself off there- finding herself unable to say the word. This was something she would have to learn to deal with...
"Your mom isnt really nice if she leaves you these meager rations..." She made a mental note to use her credit card to buy Z some food before she left. She did not know where she would go- but she wouldnt leave him hungry.

He shrugged.
"I stay at the school, I asked to go there -because- it had room and board... if I wanted to I could come home more often but, you can see she's here a lot of evenings." He said as he dumped some wrappers and onion peels into the trash on top of several boxes of tv dinners and an empty bottle of wine.
"She's not buying for me...she gives me an allowance to... to buy food with." He almost said to stay out of her hair, but it wasn't fair he thought, to say that in front of Beth, not now...

Ah! She had forgotten that he was in a dorm momentarily. She forgot that some of the other schools offered things as dorms, when her school did not offer them. How could she have let that slip her mind?
"Hopefully enough to get by with?" She knew her aunt all too well... she did not allow 'such things' to stop her from keeping all the money away. Beth knew she shouldn't be so bitter- but her aunt always left a sour taste in her mouth.

"Enough..." He nodded. "I put part away in savings, and part I use to save myself and Demy from the cafeteria food once in a while...well, more than once in a while. I could save more but... after you see the Salisbury steak looking back at you..." He left it there at the joke and a small shrug.
"Mister Tenebrous is at the doom..." he added, knowing she'd know exactly who he meant. "Dem likes to fish him out and hug him when he gets back to the room first."

"Eeeeww.... well if you need anything dont hesitate to ask ok?" She made a strange face thinking about the steak.
"HA! Thats adorable. Demy seems like a nice guy- you two are cute together." She was just glad her cousin has a tolerable roomate and not some bum off the streets.

He nearly dropped a meatball when she said that.
"Er... Uh...why do... you say that!?" He asked fumbling to put it to cook properly, his cheeks turning red, oh yes, she'd hit on something.

She eyebrow quicked at the clumsiness of her cousin- if there was one thing Zac was not... its clumsy. She clearly had stuck a cord somewhere. "Because you both seemed so happy together last time i saw you both at the same time. Plus you were super worried about him earlier... he means a lot to you doesn't he?"

"Well.... He's a ... good room mate, I mean don't get me -wrong- I don't... I don't know How I stay sane with him around sometimes but. Well I mean that is... YES...yes he's a good room mate."

"hmmmmm." She pondered- leaning back in her chair to get a better look at Zacs face. "If he was JUST a room mate you wouldnt be so worried... " She grinned. "I might be younger, cousin, but im not stupid. Oh, and your blushing." She chuckled next.

"I'm not worried!" he said with some alarm.. "At all, not worried, and I am...NOT...blushing, its just, hot cooking."
He turned to check the noodles.
At least she wasn't focusing on the house... kind of.
Then again maybe house was better than//yes I kissed my room mate...among other things//
