Taking the drink from Z she eyed it for a second before she was handed the straw. Sticking it into the drink she stirred it a little- almost unsure if she should drink it. "Yes...yes it is." She knows if she was there she could have fended off the Negaverser- even if it meant spending another few weeks in the hospital that would have been a small price to pay for her mothers soul.
Z was surprising her a little- something about him seemed a little different. Last they met he seemed a little more skittish... not this strong. Had something changed in his life? Or was this just her mind playing tricks with her.
She sipped on the drink next- the sugary sweet had almost taken her aback. It was something she would normally drink for sure, she was a sugar addict. This time though it felt more than that... powerful- helping her clear her mind. She did something next that might have made him wtf on normal terms. That was- she leaned against him. Her crying had all but stopped now- maybe she was empty in the tear department.
"What am i going to do... I couldnt get her out before it exploded... the only thing i managed to grab was this album." She pointed towards the (partially singed) book of black leather.

exploded... the word settled into his mind with an unexpected gravity.
He looked at the album and traced it with his finger. He knew it well, there was a copy in his room, not as full perhaps. But inside were pictures of their youth, those times he'd just been dropped off that might have been tedium had it not been for Beth. The precious sanctuary of her house now god, even the house torn to pieces all because HE had overlooked the vital detail of making sure that she would be safe... of course he was assuming that it was one of them. It -could- he supposed, be a senshi but they had an 'image' to maintain he suspected.
"We have to let people know you're safe... but... You're coming back to my house tonight."
He wracked his brain trying to be sure. Was his mother home this week? Was she away? "I think... mother is away on business" he said at last. "I'll tell Dem that I'll be there with you... you can stay there till... till we find out what has to happen." He nodded taking what control of the situation he could and felt more 'stable' for it. There was a plan, this could work...this would work.

"Why?... the only family member whom would care that i was safe would be you." He was truly all she had left. Oh she had her father too- but knowing him he already knew about this and...she didnt really care. Even if he knew she was safe- he wouldn't come home. Knowing him he is going to leave her to her cousin- or she would randomly be mailed a set of keys to a new house to live in.
Thus was the life of a stupid business prone a*****e father...
She continued to drink the fruit beverage slowly- its sugary goodness was revitalizing her. Bringing the color back to her skin. It felt good having someone else take the reins for now- when you have such a huge reality check given to you it felt like a relief to not have to worry about things for the moment. She eyed her cousin, part of her was wary about these sudden personality changes... but as it stood she rather liked them too. "You sure i wouldn't be a burden? I don't want to be a hassle for you..."

the worried look that crossed his face was more familiar than the confidant structure he'd been imposing at least. "Why would you think you were a burden... if anything, I owe you... all those years you put up with me dropping by... " He glanced away and back... "It's not, like I'd keep my hair twisted up because my MOTHER put it that way..." he flicked the little hair twist that held a portion of his bangs still, just like that first time she'd put his hair up in all the pins and clips.
"The ...cops, the firemen, their going to want to know your safe, that no one stole you." He added staring down at his hands like someone had opened a tap and let all his self assurance drain out for a moment. In truth he was just realizing the magnitude of what had happened.
After a moment he forced himself up again, took back the reigns to keep to a plan.
"No, you won't be a burden, and, at least this way I know you won't be using the dish soap to make scrambled eggs." He said trying to tease her. It might not be appropriate... but he wasn't at all sure what else to do.

She felt tears well up again- but this time not from sorrow. She listened as he talked about their childhood- she always thought he kept the wrap in his hair because it looked good on him- not because of her. "You know you were always welcome in my house - you were always more like a brother to me than a cousin, Zac."
She also knew she would need to tell the cops shes ok... "Ill call them when we get to your place." She added at the end of his sentence. She sipped more on the drink next.
For the first time in what felt like ages- she smiled and even gave a little laugh. "But they went perfectly with the washing detergent pancakes..." She popped off a little joke of her own- though he would probably know her well enough that this was still not her usual tone. Though one thing was now certain; she would get better.
This was when one of the staff members walked over towards the duo- more warry than before due to the icy glares the teenage boy had shot them. Not making eye contact- he said this quickly: "We are about to close soon..." They skittered away once said.

Zink for his part was mildly proud that someone only 5 foot tall (more literally 4'11) could have cowed a staring staffer out of eye contact, but he did his best to keep it off his face. "C'mon... they got their gawking in... lets go... do you...do you want me to call a taxi?"
He hated busses, and his 'allowance' which was really more of a 'here go away' spending fund could cover it, even if it meant school meals more often than he'd honestly like.

"Ill pay for a cab." She mused pulling out her cellphone to dial 411 -- They would always find a good cab. A minute later the cab was on its way.
"My foot still hurts so i hope you don't mind.." She didnt have her crutches- she left them out in the alley when she changed into a senshi previously. She had ignored the pain until it pretty much hurt to move. She hoped it was just bruised or something.
The duo of them exited the store, Beth quickly finished the drink giving herself a near brainfreeze before she tossed it into the trash. They waited outside for a few minutes until the cab arrived and then they both slipped in.
