Kay watched his younger brother out of the corner of his eye. Whether he noticed the younger man's discomfort or if it was just knowledge from past experiences was up for debate, but Kay understood that Quinn as he was now...certainly was not the type to flirt. Scratching at the bridge of his nose, his gaze wandered around, no doubt trying to think up a solution to the whole being close to people thing.

"Huh...she sounds...kind of familiar." Kay hummed, placing his hands on his hips (though one hip ended up having shoes pressed against it). Chances were there were a lot of girls that met that description, but he had a feeling they were talking about the same girl. "Sounds an aweful lot like 'Tori." He mused out loud, more than likely unaware that he was talking rather than thinking. Quinn once more had his attention, very curious as to who this girl was, and if he was right.

"Was her hair red? Were the green marks ivy? Prolly wearing a really pretty dress?" He inquired further, trying to figure out who the mystery girl was that managed to make Quinn so...unsure.

Quint lapsed into silence as his brother mused over the mystery girl that made him more than a little nervous. He continued moving his eyes flicked around their surroundings a bit. He certainly hoped his brother knew where the place was because the young shark-boy had no clue whatsoever. He focused his gaze back up at Kay and blinked a bit as he mused out loud and then continued to describe the girl. Quint shifted his shoulders before he nodded a little, "Yeah think that was her. She strikes me as the type to pout if she hears I forgot her name," he grumbled lightly and shrugged.

It was a girl. Girls pouted over silly things it seemed. Even Mom pouted at Dad when he did something even in an attempt to jest but then again she always laughed afterwards and jested back with Dad. Were all females so ... double-faced? Was that even the right description?

"Girls are weird," he said bluntly as he moved along his gaze shifting about their surroundings as they walked and for a long moment his gaze fell and lingered on a tattoo parlor. Huh, those pictures looked interesting.

Kay stroked his chin like a villain would, brow raised and gaze lidded like everything had clicked together perfectly. "Then it prolly was Victoria...and I'll tell ya, she's real good at flirtin." His expression changed a bit, that dopey grin back on his lips. Yes, Victoria was great at flirting. It was nice. Though it probably should have bothered him more that the red head had flirted with his brother of all people, Kay find it did not. Perhaps because Quinn wasn't much of a challenger on this playing field? Maybe. "An' yeah she prolly would pout. So it'll be our little secret, yeah?" He pressed his index finger against his lip then laughed, stretching his arms over his head. Yes yes, girls were weird. But pretty. Very very pretty.

The Shaman noticed the Tattoo parlor when Quint did. The moment he laid eye on it, his earlier plan seemed to click in his mind. Stopping the walk, he nudged his Shark-like brother, then pointed at the parlor.

"If ya ever wanna test getting close to someone, that's a good way to do it! Also get some pretty and permanent art on ya as a prize if you pass." Tattoos were fun! He had several...but the difference was, he woke up with his.

"...I guess?" Quint replied indifferently he noted his brother's goofy expression but said nothing about it. Kay looked goofy on a rather regular basis and right now this was no real exception. He nodded when Kay promised to keep Quint's mental mishap a secret, at least his brother had better or else something unfortunate would happen like Quint informing every girl that Kay has an interest in that the Shaman had a very unfortunate rash that can be caught by simply touching him.

Quint might behave mature on a regular basis but such tactics were not below him if he were to be crossed. It was a step above killing his brother all he'd be murdering is the Shaman's love life. Bwah hah hah.

The shark-boy paused a moment staring at the parlor. What Kay said did make sense but still there was something that he was starting to recall, "Don't I have to be older even if I did want to test that out?" Not that it bothered him too much that he chomped at others when they got too close, he generally gave a warning but still it was a bit annoying for him so maybe...?

Kay considered Quinn's damper on the subject. Well yes, he did recall that there was an age restriction on tattoos and piercings...but where was the fun in it if they didn't try? While he pondered their course of action, a rather mischievous grin spread onto his lips.

"Nah, as long as you have a responsible adult with you that consents to you getting one." He was, of course, referring to himself...but he knew Quinn, and he knew what kind of rebuttals his dear Brother could make back at him, and so before the Shark boy could properly sass him out, the Shaman cut him off.

"If you want to try getting one, and he turns us away no matter what, I'll leave you alone for a week. I'll sleep in the living room and everything."

Quint opened his mouth and then closed it again when Kay interrupted to save himself some further sassing. Quint crossed his arms over his chest not too convinced at the idea that his brother could convince anyone that he was anymore adult than he was. The older brother barely had chest hair - scratch that he had NONE at all - to prove that he was much older. Still the idea of the test was appealing for various reasons most of them being related to the fact that maybe, just maybe he could use his teeth for actually important things. Like in fights, plus, Kay put up a tempting offer.

"Alright." Quint said as he reached up and thumbed at his own nose. Sure it'd be permanent but it'd be kind of neat, he'd just make sure he'd get something he actually liked, that was responsible enough.

Maybe. The idea of Kay leaving him alone for a weak was far more appealing than the idea of body ink. In the off chance that the artist was stupid enough to agree he'd just have to deal with the possible idea of a twenty-four-seven touch-a-thon.

...It was worth it, really!

(( Even = agrees to do it // Odds = NEEDS MORE CONVINCING ))

=======================

"Sweet, it's a deal then. C'mon Quinny boy, let's getcha some ink!" Laughing, he headed right for the Tattoo parlor, knowing that Quinn would follow. He had to follow. If he didn't, he'd get two times the usual annoyance level! Hah, take THAT, Quinn! He took a moment to put on his shoes.

Stepping through the doors showed the parlor to be like every other one; designs lined the walls, it had a strangely dark feel to it with the decor, and the artist seemed absolutely covered in tattoos. Unsurprising, but a good start. At least it seemed clean enough.

"'Ey, aintcha a lil' young? Go home ta' yer Mama." The gruff artist said, huffing at the two apparently younger boys standing in his shop's door way. Another glance up showed that they were still there. "Whatter you still doin here? I said scram!"

"Dude, relax, I'm old enough to give him permission to get one at least. He's practically an old man anyway, the only thing stopping him is his age." Kay only shrugged, sliding his hands into his pant pockets. Despite being eager to be here, he managed to come off as only mildly interested. He looked at a few of the more tribal tattoos, then looked over his shoulder at the artist again. "He practically begged me to take him, I had no choice." He flashed a wide grin at the Shark.

The artist stared at Xbalanque, then at Quint. Then back again. The dark skinned boy seemed convincing enough...but they still looked so young! Deciding it was better to play on the safe side, he tilted his head, focusing on the older of the two.

"I'll need ta see yer license then, Buddy." Grinning proudly when he saw the skull-faced one falter and give a rather surprised expression, he cut off anything the boy was going to say, waving his hand in dismissal. "See? I betcha don't even got one! Why should I tattoo him? Yer wastin' my time." This, though, Xbalanque had an answer for.

"Why not, I figure. Like I said, I'm old enough...and he wants one. I don't drive. Don't have room for a car, so why should I have a license?" Shrugging, he meandered over to the artist, holding out his hand as though ready to make an agreement with him. "I give him permission to get a Tattoo, and I can pay for it up front. In cash." Cash. Which of course meant that there would be no record of them ever being here. The artist stared at them, from the older one who was more or less already assuming the sale, then to the gray skinned one in the background. A glance back to Kay and the man found that his focused stare never left him, he was still proudly staring right at him, just oozing confidence in everything he did. Well...how could he refute that? He couldn't, that's what.

Sighing, he clamped down on Xbalanque's hand, shook it, then turned away to get his needles ready. Kay could only look back at Quinn, a wide and victorious grin on his lips that just screamed 'I win, sucka!'

"Choose whattcha want, and tell the nice man so I can pay him."

((Odds = Quinn attempts to bite. / Evens = Quinn controls himself.))
==================================

Naturally Quint followed if only to watch the spectacle as it unfolded though once he entered and the tattooed man tried to shoo them out Quint would have been more than happy to leave it at that but obviously his brother wasn't. The Shark held his tongue quietly and watched as Kay worked his rather dubious magic on the Tattoo Artist despite it all and was amazed, very much so, when the rather ornery man finally agreed to it simply because money came into play. He pulled a face at Kay in response as he then moved to gaze at a bunch of tattoos until he found a rather lovely one of a mermaid's profiled silhouette. He pointed at that one and when directed he got into the seat and pulled off his shirt and directed which arm to put it on.

Once that was all settled and everything was gathered and the artist got to work.

The artist was close, uncomfortably close it was enough to make him uncomfortable and want to bite but Quint stubbornly clenched his jaw and forced himself to accept the man's presence close to him. The feel of the needle digging into the skin of his upper arm wasn't what hurt. It was annoying, certainly, but not something that would be considered painful that was until the Artist got a little too heavy handed and suddenly Quint gave a small yelp and leaned to bite in response to the pain in order to defend himself. Not only was the man too close for personal comfort but also just hurt him!

"Woah, woah! What the ********!? If you're gonna do that s**t you might as well just leave with half the ink done!" The man roared at Quint and the boy scowled back at the angry Artist.

Quint sat up a bit more straight and frowned down at the figure forming at his arm still half finished and mingling with his blood and ink that had now gone un-wiped, "I would have been fine if you hadn't gone at my arm like a hunk of god damn meat, you p***k," the shark boy quipped back. "If you're even decent at what you do I wouldn't have lashed out like that."

The man growled and settled back in and began to work again, now the boy was questioning his workmanship! He'd show this brat what he was made of!

Other than the warning chomp which thankfully was barely dodged by the Artist the tattoo was done within an hour and a half. Quint slid off the chair while the Artist dealt business with the Shaman.

Kay grinned back at the face Quint pulled. Now that his work was done, he stood back and relaxed, more or less just watching Quint in the off chance that brother dearest decided to make a meal out of the tattoo artist.

The 'or less' part came in when a rather pretty brunette came into the shop with her Mother. Kay decided that hey, since Quint didn't bite when he normally would have, it would be okay for him to talk to the pretty girl...and he did. She seemed pretty friendly, and was more than happy to talk back to him which...didn't help his ego at all. Her Mother didn't seem to fond of him, though. He was helping her pick out a new tattoo when the artist came over to complete the deal.

Sighing, Kay abandoned the Brunette to look the artist over; no bites, eh? That was awesome, but kind of disappointing. He squared off with the Artist, in cash as promised, and winked with a wave at the Brunette while she was taken to get her tattoo (coincidentally, the one he suggested!). Soon enough Kay was moving to collect the Shark boy, grinning like the proud idiot he was.

"Guess you win, then." He was trying to sound disappointed but...he just couldn't bring himself to do it. "Ready to go? I'm ********' starving!"

"Damn straight I win," Quint replied and then nodded at Kay's words. Once everything was cared for and he got everything in a nice neat back and made sure the gauze was secured over his Tattoo they went off toward the pizza place where they enjoyed a nice meal and actually each other's company much to the surprise of mostly themselves. Quint paid for dinner - a tidbit that Kay had forgotten until the Shark-boy pulled out his wallet and got out the money.

They went home, laser tag forgotten for now until another time when they decided to do something together yet again. Everyone marveled at their good mood when the boys got home and no one thought to question it.

...Well, Tek wanted to question it but babies don't talk that well.
