Wat?

"Uh... suuuure, of course I did," Gemini replied, giving the slightly-crazed Cancer an extremely skeptical stare and a slow nod, obviously not understanding in the least. Again, she gave a cursory look around at the scene, as if this new information might provide some insight, but within a few seconds that nod had turned into a faster headshake, one eyebrow quirking in further confusion. "... ok, I won't lie, I have no idea what you're talking about."

It seemed Cancer had flown over the cuckoo's nest.

Taking a few steps forward, the female half of Gemini glanced towards Imogen, giving her a long, unwavering look. It didn't last more than a few seconds, a single slow breath's worth of time, but for the two of them, it might have lasted a lifetime. While her expression had been jovial a moment before, all remnants of that had faded as she gave the girl a searching look, as if she were trying to stare into her soul. The seconds passed, however, and the gaze faded into a softer, more reassuring one, and she flicked her green eyes back up to Cancer, grinning once more, all seriousness vanishing as easily as it had come.

"I'm not sure Imo has a vile bone in her body dude. Unless by 'vile' you meant 'uncannily clumsy,' upon which case yeah, I'd totally agree with you there," she continued after a second, grinning broadly and winking towards the roped redhead, "You might be on to something with the eye thing, although I'm getting the feeling we're proooobably talking about slightly different situations. Look, man, you want to ask her for a date, you might want to try flowers as a more romantic alternative."

A quick glance in Vanadis' direction, and Gemini tried to hold back another grin, her eyes glittering a little.

"I'd also suggest you ask one girl at a time. Unless you all are into threesomes, then hey, more power to you."

"Gemini..." There was a few seconds relative peace as the third senshi joined their bizzare little group in the allyway. She was too wound up to feel relief, and the way Gemini greeted her fellow zodiac-named senshi (oh yeah, Imo had noticed) gave her a delightful moment of panic again. If they were on the same side...but after just those few seconds, Cancer was attacking her again. At least she could hear Gemini saying she doubted that Imo was evil. Still not exactly relief but it was one less thing to worry about and two senshi on her side was better than one.

They really had to stop meeting like this. Imo valiant but failing in her attempts to stave off an attack, while Gemini swooped in all sassy lines and tartan clad badassness to save her. Maybe next time they could go get that ice cream instead.

Their eyes met over Cancer's shoulder for what felt like forever. The senshi looked oddly serious for Gemini and Imo hoped whatever she read in her eyes had proved her innocent - and hadn't included anything about how her own heart skipped a beat. There really was a time and place...which would be later when all this STOPPED and she could go home and tell Aggie she'd seen The Crush again and then try to forget because, Mackie. (She didn't know yet that Vanadis was in fact Aggie, who'd probably recognised from her enthusiastic account of the tooth-fairy incedent who the newcomer was.)

"Sweetie, much as I adore it, less of the witty banter, more helping with the crazy person!" She sounded sharper than she'd have liked, but Cancer was kind of overpowering her again and you try speaking in dulcet tones next time you're scared and in pain. Even using the rope to keep the senshi from reaching her body, she only had desperation lending her strength vs. Cancer's senshi abilities. And Imo's wrist throbbed as she tried to keep Cancer back. She'd never keep this up, not for much longer, though Imo was sure as hell trying. Imo was nearly against a wall. She hated being against a wall. It was too much like being trapped. Tears made her eyes blurry.

"Vanadis, you okay back there?" She called, wondering what the nutjob's attack had done and unable to see over her shoulders again. Had it just trapped her first defender or...? Imo'd never forgive herself if Vanadis was hurt because of her. It was her fault she'd been bubble'd. Nothing she could do against her wall with Cancer bearing down on her, mind, but Vanadis...

"Help'd be great, any time now!"

"Threesomes..?" Vanadis was slightly out of her depth. Obviously, she'd recognized the newcomer (all the 'Gemini!' going around hadn't exactly made it hard to recognize her) and identified said newcomer with Imo's Crush. The Crush that had, if she remembered correctly, valiantly saved Imo from a youma before - or attempted it, at least, which in Vanadis' book counted nearly as much as actual saving did.

If there was anyone who could sympathize with attempted-anythings, it was Vanadis.

Like, for example, this very situation. Sure, it'd been an attempted rescue but that'd turned sour rather quickly and now she was the one being rescued, so, yeah, not the brightest of hours for the senshi of Wards.

"Uh, I'm t-totally fine." And it was true too, luckily, as Cancer's attack didn't seem to be doing her any damage. And as the guarding barrier wore off, Vanadis jumped into action. Or, more accurately, she jumped at Cancer; a full-body, attempted body-slam. "Stop it, y-you b***h!"

It wasn't the best of ideas. Cancer had by far the superior physique and getting in a physical altercation wasn't the best of ideas, but what else was there to do? She wasn't the best senshi there was, and her quipping skills certainly weren't up to par with the rest of the group, so, really, what was a girl to do but take a reckless chance?

This was insane! Gemini was obviously of no help here at all and--ackk~! Cancer fell back as the 'poor mislead' Vanadis jumped on her from behind, and hands and arms were everywhere and Cancer couldn't deal with two people at once. She made a kind of 'garkk' sound as Imogen's elbow hit her windpipe and Vanadis stepped on her fuku and if Gemini was still standing there, making witty remarks then Cancer was going to bust her balls (proverbial though they might be!) when she disentangled herself.

With a grunt the senshi of protection shifted her weight to one side, and suddenly she was twirling out of the fray, her arms opening in the classic 'petal rejects the water' of ballet. So now Vanadis and Imogen could sit entwined and Cancer could rub her throat and throw a tantrum over her dress getting dirty.

"Gemini, this isn't about romance." Oh, if only she knew how much of a lie that was, she'd cry in a dark corner! "Imogen is a negaverse spy! I know she doesn't look it, but I remember her from... y'know.... before...." Albiet she remembered snippets and small odd moments and weirdness. And just thinking of those memories made her squirm when she was looking at Imogen. "She must have helped the negaverse the first time, and now they think she can seduce me a second time! We should take her to Zue and.... uhm.... stuff."

Yeah, after that point Abeline hadn't really.... thought it out. She was also blushing, because Abeline didn't generally like to admit things about her past life. Unless it was with Pier.... and now she was getting sidetrekked, and the important thing was Vanadis-- who might at any moment become a vile corrupted senshi and destroy them both! (Aries had said it happened, so it must be true....) And Imogen would dispense with the tears and the 'noo, I'm innocent' and show her true form (which was probably just as misleading!) and Abe would have to fend them both off while Gemini was telling her this couldn't be right because Imogen looked soulful! Well sure, she did! that was part of her wicked methods! And! And-- "Please Gemini, she's already killed one innocent tonight, I can't let her run free when I know her identity. What if she shapechanges or something?" (Because the negaverse were oh'so'snakelike)

She was of course refering to the youma that Imogen had bent over, and then hastily moved away from-- but Cancer had no idea this was all a big. BIG. misunderstanding.

She wanted the damn cookie.

"Okay, Oka- whoa, hold it!"

Cancer was right about one thing -- this was insane. Gemini watched as the bubble disappeared around the other redheaded senshi, eyebrows lifting as the petite girl lunged into the fray, the whole crew becoming a tangle of bodies and flailing limbs. Well this was new. Rushing forward, the female half of Gemini reached into the fight, trying to pick it apart and separate the three girls as best she could. She somehow managed to grab Imogen by the waist, plucking her up and grabbing Vanadis by the shoulder just as Cancer spun away.

"You guys are nuts," she Senshi of Duality shook her head, letting go of first Vanadis, then Imo, once again giving Cancer a skeptical look, "First of all: innocent? What innocent?" Surprisingly, she made no joke at that comment, too busy glancing between the three parties again with a quizzical expression. Shaking her head again after a moment, Gemini crossed her arms in front of her, waving them back and forth in a 'stop' motion. "You know what? I don't wanna know. I don't. To Zue it is. But if we don't find anything, you have to promise to apologize and leave these nice young ladies alone, Cancer." Of course, this was followed by a wink. Sometimes, Gemini Beta could be pretty predictable.

Zue. She liked the name, oddly, and a deep part of her really wanted to meet the person who belonged to it. However Cancer had made cracks of doubt appear her built-up trust of the Senshi with her rope and accusations. Had only Gemini suggested going to see this Zue, Imo would have agreed, hoping that they would turn out to be an impartial judge. As it was she couldn't be sure. She wasn't going anywhere until they got the few things delt with. If Senshi really were good, then they'd listen to reason.

"No. We're not going anywhere until we've sorted two things out." She wiped away her tears and held her hurt wrist to her chest protectively, but she steadied herself. Imo didn't think about how silly it was, a civilian standing there and dictating to three powered-up senshi, one of whom she'd already lost to in a fight. Her fear had finially spilled over into (lucky for some) fiery courage. Cancer should count her lucky stars she didn't have a big stick or baseball bat this time.

"'Before'? When 'before'? I'm a Barren Pines victim and I'm new to Destiny City so there's not any time for me to have tried anything." She stood tall and glared over at the Zodiac with complete contempt and continued spelling it out because Cancer was apparently stupid as well as a creeper. There was no way Imo would have had the time- or the inclination, thanks.

"If you were any good at stalking you'd also know I'm also pretty much the worst seductress ever. Ask Gemini" - she gestured at her - "and while you're at it, stalker-girl, ask about the monster that I helped kill. Besides, you are so...well, even if I did work for the 'Negaverse', they couldn't pay me enough."

Had the Autumn Handmaid ever spoke with such venom at Soldier Cancer? At anyone? Because if so and Abeline was still getting flashbacks, the one caused by this was probably rather vivid. This wasn't her 'battle face' though, this was restrained but obvious loathing. It took a lot to make her hate anyone but right now she hated Cancer and it would be a long time until she reconsidered.

Imo took a deep breath and tried to calm down a bit before turning to the other two senshi. Imo was still riled up but hey, they'd been lucky she hadn't just broken down in tears and sunk to the floor. That would have been the other extreme. Vanadis had seen both extremes before, she'd know.

"There's a dead girl along there covered in slime. Did either of you notice any goo-monsters about tonight? Because I think Cancer was too busy casting me as the enemy in her fantasy to have fought any monster that might have killed her. So unless it's dead, shouldn't that be a priority? It's not like I can escape. You're all too fast and stronger than me."

Cancer frowned at Gemini. She didn't need the help- she'd take the protesting negaverse seductress and the corrupted senshi both! And-and...

Cancer's shoulders eased. Gemini was still on her side, of course. "Okay, so she might be a deep cover operative, one that doesn't know that she's evil-- that makes sense." To Abeline at least. "Of course I'm not wrong." She was never wrong. Just as her. "I have been on to her for weeks! Why else would she make me feel so trundled up inside! And that hair-flicking habit! Exactly the same! I might not want to remember all of it, but my senshi senses explode whenever I'm around her! Look! Look! She's glaring at me! See- she hates the zodiac and wants to kill the princess."

Cancer coughed. "Well, I know it sounds paranoid, Gemini. But I'm not paranoid. She really IS out to get us. Trying to make me confused with her flirty manner."

She frowned now. "Not a seductress!? Then why do you do all those little---" she flicked her hair and rolled her hands as though to indicate a word that was too big for Abeline to pronounce. "things that you know will get my attention. And wearing such an outfit!"

Said the girl in a totally see-through dress.

Vanadis had naturally drifted closer to Imo during the conversation, taking up a slightly protective stance next to her. It was pretty obvious whose side she was on.

"I, uh, haven't seen any youma around b-but I wasn't around here before this started, so, um.." She trailed off a bit helplessly and shrugged to indicate her lack of knowledge in this case. "And as for the Negaverse s-spy thing, I'll testify on her behalf! S-she helped me beat a youma, earlier. I don't remember, um, the exact date, but it was back in January, I think. That's not spy behaviour."

Vanadis glared at the two other senshi, squaring her shoulders and attempting to look more intimidating than she actually was, "And she definitely, definitely w-won't be going anywhere with you two alone. I'm coming along." I don't trust you was lying pretty heavily in the air, but she didn't actually come out and say it. As long as the other two knew that no-one would be kidnapping Imo on her watch, that was enough.
