Three weeks? That was a good time limit - long enough that she wouldn't be bored next time, but short enough that she wouldn't use up all the produce she'd picked today. Selena smiled, giving an eager nod as she once again studied the girl's technique, trying to imitate it as she pinched off two more tomatoes. "I'd love to come again."

She was afraid her...outburst from earlier might have put the dark-haired girl off, but she seemed quite polite and willing. Well, the real test would come if she did indeed receive a text, to remind her of the day. Selena didn't want to push it - the last thing she needed was to seem like a pushy friend. She herself moved on, passing over the same plant Fallon did - if it wasn't good enough for Fallon, it clearly wasn't very good quality - taking up a spot by a plant the other side of the path, placing her basket beside her and beginning to work.

"I practice ballet a lot," she responded, voice clearly full of interest for a topic she loved, "I hope to make it my career someday, or at least a hobby. I play a few instruments, too - piano and saxophone."

Whilst she knew it was unrealistic to hope to make ballet her complete career, she'd be just as excited to have a part time job as a ballet teacher, alongside whatever other career path she chose. "Yourself? What do you do for fun, Fallon?"

The tomatoes on her current plant met her standards, and Fallon knelt in the dirt, sitting on her heels. She squeezed each tomato before pinching it free, testing it up against so internal measure. Her eyes flashed to Selena between pickings. "You dance and play piano?" It wasn't a question, just a happy repeating. Piano reminded her of Serenade, not a bad association for any girl to have.

The next few tomatoes fell in a staccato of equidistant thuds. Fallon dusted her hands off on her legs and then left them there, taking a break. "I'm in French Club at Crystal, and I ride for the Equestrian Team. I live to cook -- but you knew that. I do cross-stitching too, but I'm not very good. Puzzles, too. I'm better at those." Fallon paused and considered her options.

"Wow, I sound... exceptionally boring." Fallon laughed, but it was at herself. She had not been kidding.

Selena nodded to confirm Fallon's repetition, cheeks slightly flushed. Some people thought her hobbies were too girlie, and that she should play more sport. But Selena didn't enjoy sport, and dance was exercise, so she was happy simply exercising the way she loved. "I'm not very good at piano, still learning, and I'm even worse on the saxophone..." she modestly added, with a friendly smile.

Fallon took a break, so Selena took it as a signal for her also to lean back and rest her arms. Her basket wasn't filled as much as Fallon's, but Selena wasn't surprised - the girl was like a machine. She was pleased with what she'd picked, though, it all looked yummy and there was plenty of it. She looked up to Fallon with the same warm, friendly smile, listening as the girl recounted her hobbies.

Selena only offered a smile at Fallon's joke on herself - it was Fallon's business to pick jokes at herself, not Selena's. And she certainly didn't want to hurt her new friend's feelings! "You don't sound boring," the dark-haired girl assured with a grin, "I've always wanted to learn to ride, just never had the time."

"I'm a little boring. It's okay. I like boring."

Fallon shrugged. She thought exciting people were crazy and unstable. The closest she got to crazy was being friends with Andeon, which was a friendship of necessity during Barren Pines when she was alone and without connection. He accepted her for what she was, and she accepted him for throwing all that ******** confetti in her face.

"If you ever want to ride, I'll take you out to the stables. My horse, Taillevent, is a little finicky, but you could cool him down after my lessons, no problem."

Up on the path, Terrence was shouting on a megaphone for everyone to head back to the tractor. Apparently the time was up, and it was time for everyone to load their purchases up and head back to the barn. Fallon pinched off a few more tomatoes and then stacked both of her baskets on top of one another. "Can you carry yours on your own? It isn't too far." She got to her feet, brushing her hands off on her thighs.

She liked boring? That was odd, Selena knew people who liked exciting, fun things far more than boring, tedious things. It was just human nature, wasn't it? Obviously Fallon was different. Selena smiled - she liked different.

"Oh, you own a horse?" Selena asked in slight amazement, mouth falling open before she caught herself and closed it again. Only really, really rich people owned horses, didn't they? Was Fallon rich? Selena knew she wasn't exactly living in poverty, after all she went to Crystal. But to own a horse? That was a luxury Selena had only ever dreamed of. "That's...that's so cool. I-I'd love to, if that was alright of course!"

She felt a little like she was intruding. She knew if she had a horse, she'd protect it like her child and be very reluctant to let anyone else ride or groom or do anything to it. ...But perhaps that was just her. Glancing behind herself as she heard Terrence's shouts, Selena followed Fallon's example and hastily grabbed a few more tomatoes, before standing herself up and crouching to lift her basket. It was heavy, but not so heavy she wouldn't be able to carry it to the tractor. She wouldn't want to run a marathon with it...but she could manage.

"Yeah, I should be fine," she nodded with a smile, beginning to walk back towards the tractor, the extra weight causing her to walk in a strange hobble.

Back at the tractor, the baskets of vegetables were loaded first in the wide side containers hanging off the machine like saddlebags. The people followed, most red-faced and glistening from the time in the sun. Fallon accepted Terrence's outstretched hand for help into the bed of the truck. He smiled softly at her, kind. Maybe he wasn't such a skeeze.

She waited until Selena took a seat beside her in the hay to continue the conversation. "He's a new horse for me so we're still getting to know each other. I ride with Jada Chamberlyn every Saturday. Do you know her? She's nice." Jada was a lot more than nice, but Fallon wasn't the type to spout niceties.

Terrence returned to the helm of the tractor, shouting a warning. Fallon gripped the railing as the machine chugged forward, jostling right back into Selena. "You know, I've done this a lot of times, and I still have a little jolt of surprise when the tractor starts up." She shook her head, laughing. "You're probably more adaptable than me though." Granted, a wooden board was more adaptable than Fallon.

Selena loaded her vegetables first, following Fallon's example, before also accepting Terrence's hand to help her up onto the truck. Her smile was shy and her cheeks were pink, still embarrassed about her earlier outburst.

A new horse, hmm? Selena nodded, though paused as another name was mentioned, her forehead wrinkling in a frown. She was really bad with names, unless she knew a person very well, and she didn't have her diary on her to check. "I...don't think so. I'm really bad with names, sorry," she blushed, twirling a piece of hair enough her finger sheepishly. "Does she go to Crystal too?"

Selena knew a few Crystal girls, but was more accquainted with students at her own school. At the warning Selena also took up a safer position, grabbing the railing just in time as the machine lurched forwards. Fallon made a small joke and Selena giggled, shrugging as best she could in her current position. "I'm the person who always jumps when the toast pops up from the toaster."

With the tractor bumbling along, Fallon had to raise her voice above her comfort level to be heard. "Yes, she's my age with long black hair and purple eyes. Her parents are very wealthy. They own one of the big mansions around the historic district, a family heirloom home or some sort." The Novette-Naims had money, good money, but they did not have the kind of money that the Chamberlyns did. It was possible Selena had noticed the house, even if she didn't know Jada. "I think you'd like her." Selena seemed friendly enough, and Jada was polite. She wouldn't refuse the girl's presence until proven guilty of not being worth hanging around, at least from Fallon's perspective.

The tractor went over a particularly nasty bump, and Fallon lurched forward, landing haphazardly in Selena lap. She clutched the girl's legs for a moment before sitting back up. "Okay," she snapped, annoyance bristling in her throat. "I'm ready to get off of this thing." She would have to wait five more minutes for that.

Back at the ranch, Fallon paid for both her and Selena's collected vegetables and said her goodbyes to the other people from the trip. With their goods moved from the baskets into plastic containers and bags and stacked on a collapsable dolly (that Fallon had brought, of course), the walk back to the street where the taxi would pick them up was far less strenuous.

Fallon passed off the parcel the cab driver so that he could drop stuff in the trunk. "Sorry about earlier," she said again. It was the polite thing to do. The day had been pleasant aside from that minor snafu. "You had fun, didn't you? If this isn't your thing, then we should go horsebackriding." Fallon slipped into the cab and then pulled out a planner covered in sticky notes and color-coded. "How is two Saturdays from now at 11:00AM for you?" She clicked her pen and waited.

The taxi whirred into motion, whisking the two girls out of the country and back to Crystal Academy.

((Want to end it there? You can toss up a closing post, if you'd like! I'm trying to close up my hanging RPs for Tartaros stuff. We can do a horseback RP after the metaplot, perhaps?))
