"No. I don't think it's wrong to understand," the stallion said, shaking his head. "I only caution not to go too far."
He stepped closer so the moonlight coming through the boughs overhead could shine on him more, brief green puffs of flame marking his path. He gazed at her through the blindfold, watching her with his cursed sight. The tattoos on his body--a "gift" from the two-legger shaman that betrayed him--glowed a faint green in the darkness. "Is this what you wanted to see? I will not stay when the sun rises. I have always been a creature of night, even before this curse. My herd only ever foraged in the dark to be wary of the two-leggers."

'I appreciate the warning, I would not want to lose myself at any rate. I would hope I have a good enough head on my shoulders not to, but I shall try and be cautious whilst I take these risks..if possible.'
Chatura smiled faintly, her eyes flickering about him as he came closer. She stood her ground, though his height, build and appearance could be intimidating. She didn't want to show fear of any small kind as he'd been good enough to stay and talk..or be bothered by her, however he perceived their current interaction.
'You're not an atypical Kalona, I can see that much.' she looked up at his face. The horns were much different from what she'd been told of, but his wings were as expected. His tail seemed to be like hers, from what she could tell at any rate.
'That covers your eyes? How do you see me?'

"Cursed magic," Illidan all but spat out, unconsciously baring his teeth. "A 'gift' from the shaman, and also what caused my change. I see things slightly different, but well enough." He shook his head as if ridding it of memories. Stamping a hoof down, causing a flash of green flame, he snorted and looked up at her, fixing her with a sightless stare. "What exactly would you consider. . . typical of my breed?"

Chatura flinched slightly at his tone of voice; obviously that was one question that shouldn't be asked, or a point not to be pressed upon. She caught sight of the strange green fire that happened when he moved his hooves but bit back a question about that, chances were it was from the same thing as his sight.
'But you can 'see' in a manner of speaking, and better than me, in the dark at least?' she gave a little throat clear before speaking again.
'Your horns for a start are much bigger than what I was expecting, and your tail is normal, not snake like with tendrils, nor thick with a sharp spade tip. Your wings are as was described to me however.'

Illidan just rumbled as she spoke, listening to her words. "Aye, well. As I said, I was not always as you see me. I was as you were once, hidden Kalona blood included." He seemed to have calmed down somewhat now, moods shifting like the wind. "I can see very well in the dark. I've always preferred the night, but have even more reason to now." He tilted his head, then looked at one of his outstretched wings, the edges frayed and tattered. "They were in better shape once, but fighting with other Kalona. . . They fight dirty and bite often."

'But that's just you, your situation, Kalonas as a rule aren't nocturnal creatures?' Chatura asked, just for confirmation. She was fairly sure that wasn't a usual trait, unless her Great-Grandmother was just an aberration, she knew that Maharet had been attacked in daylight, and she was sure her Grandmother Neve had never said anything of the sort.
'So.' she took in a steadying breath, wondering whether she was slightly crazy for asking this, but ask she must.
'What of their nature don't you embrace?'

"Yes, I preferred the night before the curse. My herd had always moved at night, thinking it was safer," Illidan said, nodding. "I don't really know any Kalonas, so I don't know their habits. I will say that I don't adhere to their wanton destruction. I don't like attacking without warrant, though sometimes I do lose myself to my temper."

'You would say you're not vicious, nor predatory then?' Chatura asked, just to confirm the point, mentally filing that away in her head.
'And do you eat meat at all?' she added, with not a little trepidation, for she had no idea if that was a necessary thing for pure-blooded Kalona's, or if it was a choice that some made.

"I do when I can find it. I learned to survive on it in the valley I lived in before coming here. Grass and other plants were scarce, but there was always small game to be found," Illidan told her, shrugging a bit. "I wouldn't say I'm not predatory, at least in that respect, and i can be vicious when there is need to be, but I try not to find myself in those situations.

'So you won't for instance be attacking me for food, or even just for pleasure?' Chatura asked, still making the mental notes, filing it away in her mind neatly so that she could refer to it later.
'You avoid confrontation, or violence when necessary. I'm pleased to know that's possible. You don't find any compulsion to be that way?' she added, curious as to whether demon blood had a sway over you if you weren't born that way, and if it was hard to resist if it did have an influence.

"I see no reason to attack you," Illidan answered, watching the mare, "and I do have inclinations for violence, I simply do not wish to act on them when there's no need. I wasn't born this way or raised with hatred in my heart."

'So your background helps rein in that part of you?' Chatura asked, definately very interested in the answer to this and her following question. From what her mother had told her, her Grandmother Neve had raised her six children well, and there was little reason for one of her Uncles to have behaved as he did.
'Do you think if you hadn't been raised as well as you have that you might be different now?'

"I'm not sure, to be honest," Illidan answered. "I was raised in a tight-knit herd and we cared for each other. Even with that, we had our differences, but we weren't violent. When I was cursed to be as I am now, I felt different, as if new urges had sprung up, but I know they're wrong and I don't answer them."
