"S'orrible, 'orrible..." Verdauga's voice trailed off as the other's words sunk between his brightly hued ears. That was horrible news indeed and he felt his blood slowly begin to boil. The injustice of it all... It was enough to make him wish to declare the other's pack his own enemy right then and there.

The only thing that stilled his trembling jaw shut was the fact that he did not wish to also make an enemy out of this blue wolf.

"Well, ain't what for sittin' 'round an chattin' 'bout it. World ain't gonna change if'n you don't act. An' me, my friend, I'm gonna act."

"I left," he said, although his expression was a bit guilty. "Couldn't stand the thought of it anymore. But...maybe it's not enough." His brow furrowed and he eyed the other wolf thoughtfully. He could feel it again, that certainty that somehow, something was changing....as though the stars above him were realigning. "Action? What do you propose, friend?"

He never really did think his plan out all the way.

That was one fault with the young male, although he was sure he was destined for some sort of greatness or renown. He was brash and tended to decide things on the spot. Not that he hadn't thought about this so far, he just hadn't figured out what he would do once he had enough followers and seriously pissed off some of the other packs.

But he knew he would do something.

"Tha's a good question, my friend~"

He studied the other, debating on what he would say and how much he would reveal. That debate didn't last too long, for this one seemed to be like minded and was also one of the sea, surely he would be trustworthy enough.

"Firs' I gotta find 'nough wolves t'work wi' me. Then we're gonna give 'em blood 'n salt, if'n ya' get my drift. Young 'uns, they'd be safe. An' I don' expect we'd fight that much. Sneaky-like, if'n ya see. Put 'em in their place. Take wot they call their riches when they ain't watchin' an' educate who we can 'long the way."

He considered this, brow furrowed in contemplation. The notion thrilled him, but frightened him also; one did not throw away a lifetime of pack morality overnight. Still...well, if ever there were a way to rebel from his father, this would be it.

"Rob them," he said, slowly. "...To even out the odds against the weak...empower them..." his eyes lit up excitedly. "Give aid to all the disenfranchised wolves who have been mistreated by pack politics...."

"Ah, yer a right sharp 'un, Brother." A grin slid across Verdauga's maw as he listened to the blue wolf of the sea finish his own thoughts. Yes, if this one would come with him, he would do nicely. He already seemed interested enough, as it were.

"We empower them, they empower us~ We're one inna same an' we bring down those what oppress us all."

Kai's tail wagged slowly with ever-increasing excitement. As much as he had despised pack life, he still yearned for that feeling of belonging, and suddenly it felt as though something that had grown empty inside of him was filling with a new resolve. "...When do we start?" he asked, with only barely-quelled enthusiasm.

"Soon as we can, if'n you get my meanin' an all. No rest fer the weary,'n all that jazz. We ought'er get started as soon as possible." He nodded his head in affirmation at his own words and he debated something that had been plaguing him for some time.

Just where would they go?

"Ain't reckon s' a good idear for us t'stay in one spot fer long periods 'o time. I been thinkin' we won't 'ave one pa'ticular territory, but several small 'uns. I passed a river long th' way. Seems t'ead southwest. Along 'et an' a touch further south, I passed a small valley. I'm thinkin' we ought t'all gather there come th' start 'o summer. I've found a few other nice spots, but that 'un is closest and 'as been my fav'rite thus far."

He nodded, shifting his weight from paw to paw as he mulled this over. "Wherever there's water, I'm happy," he said, and then, because it seemed prudent to bring up, "I...haven't quite gotten the hang of land hunting yet, so I kind of need the fish in the meanwhile. But I'll learn!"

"Haharr! Well, don't ya worry, y'won't be 'lone an' I bet you'll catch on in no time, eh? B'sides, I'm quite fond 'o the water, m'self, so as long as we stick near et, I'll be quite content."

He grinned and pawed at an itch that had begun to irritate him, then settled down to think things over for a moment. Sticking near the other packs would be the best idea... Yet at the same time they would have to move frequently and do their best to keep from being noticed too terribly much. Perhaps that valley would serve as a perfect spring denning sight, in the event that they ever have any expectant mothers.

Otherwise small, frequent moves would be advised.

"B'sides, most th' packs seem t'be near water an we'll 'ave to stick near 'em."

He nodded, beginning to feel a bit foolish that he had no particularly helpful input -- it was just that everything the other wolf said sounded so good already, Kai had very little to add. And besides...what did Kai know about anything here in the outside world?

Well...that wasn't quite true. Kai knew a thing or two about running a pack. Indeed, he knew plenty about diplomacy -- and that at least was a skill he could offer. "And what shall we call ourselves, then?"

Y'know, I ain't quite thought 'o that, yet."

He grinned broadly at the other seaside-kin, though of another pack. His tail shifted in a wag and he plodded forward and to the side slightly, his smile being of a mischievous nature.

"I'm more'n sure we'll think o' somethin' between now an' the time we got the lot together, eh?"

He smiled a little sheepishly, feeling that perhaps he had gotten ahead of himself in his enthusiasm. "I'll spread the word, to any who seem they might be interested," he said, and meant it; much to the annoyance of his family, Kailani had a tendency to be a bit prone to lecturing when he was passionate about something.

He hesitated, not sure if his next inquiry was a stupid one, but pressed ahead anyway. "...And...then will that be? that we meet again, I mean, with others?"

"Ah, well~"

He seemed to lapse into thought again as he weighed future options. While young, he was no fool. While summer had not yet arrived, being a few weeks away yet, winter would be rough. More mouths to feed, yet the more there were, the easier hunting would be. Yes, before winter would be best.

"Ah'm thinkin' t'wou'd be best t'start headin' that way. Gather as many as we can b'fore the hottest moons set in. Get as much as we can situated a'for the cold moons set in. Ah'll be arrivin' b'fore the days are the longest."

He nodded his head in affirmation at his words, but made a mental note to stress to others gathering that it might not be the most ideal time for breeding, as he didn't want small mouths to feed in the winter time. No, that wouldn't be good at all, not with the pack just forming and with the possibility of prey being scarce.

"An' thank yeh, kin. Ah'll be needin' good 'eads in the pack for sure. Y'show a good bit 'o promise."

Kai very nearly beamed, a wide grin upon his maw. He would have been ashamed at how easy he was to manipulate by flattery, except in this cause it didn't quite bother him. He was really quite fond of his new friend, and -- though the other was younger -- had grown to respect him very much already. "Makes sense," he agreed, although -- given the constant mild climate of his home country -- the notion of winter was a little lost on Kai. There was, to be sure, a dry season where things were cool...but he'd never quite experienced a true snap of cold, and certainly had never seen snow. But, well, if Verdauga said so.

Kai glanced up at the sky, noticing that it had grown rather dark while they were talking. "I've a few matters to attend to, here," he said, thinking of a certain sun-colored wolf he should be saying farewell to, "But afterwards, I'll make my way to meet back with you...with others, hopefully, if I am lucky enough to find some."

"Bring as many as what c'n be trusted, brother." Verdauga smiled and nodded his head cheerily, tail wagging slightly. Things would go well enough, especially with one like Kai in his pack. He had pride and confidence.

"An ya do what ya gotta do, brother. I'll be 'eaded that way soon, gonna gather what I can on the way. Take care 'o y'self. Th' pack shall be magnificent." He gave the wolf he deemed his brother of another mother a slightly affectionate nose to his pelt, then backed off.

"I'll be seein' ya." With that, he turned tail and plodded westward.
