Hey count Bast Night in too. She LOVES it when I volunteer her for things.
So how do we get started? What size squares? Do we all use say worsted weight yarn?
I am very excited and is Bast, at least she will be when she figures out what I did. (She is actually sitting beside me and is cool with it)

It'll definitely be worsted weight yarn, something soft and easy care would be best (like cotton or super soft acrylic). Once we figure out how many people are going to pitch in, I'll start figuring out dimensions for the blanket/squares and how many each of us will have to do. To make it easiest I think it will probably be garter stitch or something nice and simple like that, if we go with a pattern other than that I'll post all necessary information (pattern instructions, needle size, my gauge, etc.)

Not for this project unfortunately, but it would be hella cool to do an embroidery/cross stitch project after this one as I've been cross stitching since I was ten and am learning embroidery now. Would you be interested in that?

So, question for participants: Would you be interested in doing/learning mitered squares? they're nice and easy, and look very pretty. 3nodding It would be in garter stitch, to make it easier. Oh hell, let me just post the link to what I'm thinking of: Pyschedelic Squares Afghan pattern. We could easily do it stockinette stitch, or just do garter (it looks just a pretty in garter 3nodding ). It looks complicated, but it's super easy to do the sqquares, but we could do something less scary looking if people want too. Just thought I'd throw this idea out there.

I am all for it, but Bast will not be, it will scare her. If you decide to do this one anyway, I will get her through it, even if she kicks and screams (and sometimes bites!) And then she will be thrilled and happy that she learned something new.
I love the pattern I bookmarked it. The last few years I have been doing LOTS of rainbow afghans, I want to do this pattern with every other row black. I think that would be really cool.
If anybody is interested, some friends and I make hats for preemies and donate to the local hospital here. I know you could all donate to your own local hospital and I think that would be great, but we donate under the name "Witches Stitches" So if any of you would like to make even one, just to have been a part of Witches Stitches, we would love to turn in your hat with ours. If any of you do a similar thing that I could be part of (other than this) please let me know.
I haven't cross stitched or embroidered for years (got the knitting bug) but please already count me in for the next project

I had Bast look at the pattern and she says if I hold her hand through it, She is in. There was a note in the pattern though that says if you do it all in garter Stitch, it won't turn out.
I am really looking forward to this and can't wait til we get started.
I think I said before, but I do A LOT of afghans using rainbow colors and I can't wait to try this with Rainbow and black!

It would take some modification, but it should turn out all right in garter as long as I can modify the pattern (which I'm sure I can).
@ Rizu: I've done similar things, it's actually quite easy! But if you're worried, we can do something else.

I'm sorry guys, I haven't given much thought to this thread because I've been moving and Dsay has been helping me. I still want to do this, though, if everyone is still interested. Give me more feedback and I'll start putting together a pattern if you don't like the one already suggested. no worries about upsetting me, I'm easygoing. smile

I would if I could, but I can't even floss my teeth without serious troubles... sweatdrop I think that was how I lost my first baby tooth... I recall my 7th grade sewing class, where I kept threading the needle wrong or somewhow running out of thread... I'm such a klutz. The only thing I can do right is draw.
