Influence: Circuit Boards
The next couple of weeks after the manifesting, Ethernet's personality continually shifted and changed, as proto's often should while they get used to their surroundings. Ether was no different, shuffling through different personality manifolds in hopes to determine the best in getting the desired effect of it's purpose.
Sadly, the personality that seemed most efficient was snarky. Unus just seemed to respond, begrudgingly, but respond none the less, to sarcasm and belittling. Ethernet did not question this, nor think that perhaps the reasoning was to get it to shut up that Unus got up to do what was needed to be done. It got the job done didn't it? Awesome. End of story.
On this particular night, Unus had just gotten done with a program that needed to be finished before midnight. He had hardly done anything other then work, he had been grumped at by Ethernet to actually get up and eat. Still, he got it done and sent off just in time, and was very tired.
Very very tired. When he closed his eyes all he could see were functions and binary and if/then loops. Yup, it was definitely time for bed.
"Aren't you forgetting something Master Unus?" Unus cringed. It was THAT voice. The voice of snark. Oh god he really didn't want to put up with this right now. He wanted sleep. Could whatever it was wait until morning? He kept moving towards his room, hoping Ethernet would take the hint.
No such luck. "Master Unus, I know you are dense. That's why you obtained me, is it not?" it queried with a headtilt. "Anyway, you must clean up all these circuit boards lying around. You asked me to remind you of it."
Ugh, really? Cleaning? At this hour? Unus sighed bitterly. "Can't it wait until morning Ethernet? You know just as well as I do that I was working all day to get that program done, and I would like to sleep."
Excuses again. How troublesome. "Now now Master Unus, you know just as well as I do if you don't get it done now you will never remember to do it. I can only do so much after all, I am not a miracle worker."
It may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. It might have been the fact that he was fricking tired. Whatever the reason, Unus turned on his heels with an angry look in his eyes, one Ethernet had never seen before. He quickly shoved all the circuit boards into a box before plucking up Ether and plopping the proto into it before closing the lid and placing a heavy book on top. He was not going to put up with this s**t anymore. He was calling...that guy in the morning and having a talk with him.
"I'll get you out in the morning..." he growled tiredly before stomping off to bed, leaving Ether in the box with all the circuit boards.
Ethernet humphed. What on earth was his problem?
