Les'dorl analyzed the creature like a computer. Taking in all it's advantages, 'It's bigger, most likely stronger. Has spikes that will keep me from getting too close. Sharp fangs and a strong looking jaw, they look like they could tear through my skin easily. I should keep my spear, not throw it.' He thought. He switched his spear into a position where he could lunge with it. When the Howler came at him, Les'dorl thought quickly. 'Uh oh... maybe I can impale it through the head. And end this quickly.' He thought and pointed his spear at the beast. He charged keeping the spear steady and aimed at the Howler's head.

The Howler continued to charge, gathering its feet and leaping in a twisting motion away from the spear. The head scored a line between its spines, along the tough skin, leaving a small trail of acrid black blood along the flesh of the creature. As it continued through the air past the little man with the spear it flicked its tail, a mass of sharp, barbed spines, towards him.

Les'dorl smiled when he saw the Howler bleed. 'If I can just stab it there again, I might be able to hit something.' He thought as he prepared to turn and stab the creature. However he dropped his spear when he saw the tail coming at him. He thought quickly and grabbed two of the spines. He grunted when the barbs stabbed his hands. He held on still though as the tail lifted him off the ground.

Les'dorl was thrown into the air when he let go of the barbs. He fell and hit the ground hard. He laid there for a second, before rolling over and pushing himself up. He looked to where he had dropped his spear. Then at the Howler. 'I gotta get that spear.' He thought, as he glanced back and forth between the Howler and his spear. Les'dorl finally made a dash at his spear as fast as he could.
