Hayes' brows lifted slightly. "Not registered or anything?" he asked, paying a little more attention to Akemi. If someone was framing her for theft, that was one thing, but theft required possessions. Gifts were odd; the higher-ups weren't in the habit of handing out Pokemon, and good Samaritans tended to be rare and short-lived. An Eevee in a blank Pokeball was interesting.

His fingers hit a sweet spot; Switch's eyes half-lidded and his limbs relaxed. "Chuuu," the electric mouse mumbled, the picture of relaxed contentment.

Watching the Eevee's progress, Nemerle let out a contented huff but made no move forward, letting the pale little Pokemon explore at her own pace.

"Looks like she's doing all right," the agent smiled, nodding at Rei's tentative steps forward. "First time I've seen Nem do that, though; seems she likes her."

Nemerle slid her eyes sideways and gave Hayes a brief look.

The girl shook her head slightly. "Oddly enough, she didn't have any kind of Trainer ID on her.. even though she was in a ball. I found it strange as well, but after asking around I decided to keep her until someone comes around and asks", she said. She didn't want to cause any trouble, and if the little Eevee did indeed belong to someone she'd give it back right away. But for now, she enjoyed having one to look after.

"Vee-ee.." the little sand-coloured pokémon uttered as it finally mustered the courage to step up to the Glaceon, wagging its tail slightly.

Another small smile spread on her face then. "Seems like our pokémon became friends pretty fast. If only it was as easy for us humans", she remarked with an embarrassed chuckle.

Hayes seemed indeed to be the type who was easy to get along with, and so far this encounter had been a positive one - even more so considering how many people she'd angered over the time she'd been working for Team Rocket.

"I'd take any responses you get with a grain of salt," Hayes grinned in a lopsided fashion. "Be sure they're not just showing up for a free Pokemon." Such things would happen anywhere a lost Eevee was advertised, but the high concentration of amoral individuals in Team Rocket made it all the likelier.

In response to Rei, Nemerle made a soft hum in the back of her throat and dipped her head to touch noses with the little fox. It was a gentle, nonthreatening gesture, almost.. motherly.

At Akemi's comment about friends, the blonde took his eyes off the Pokemon to glance at her. "Not having a lot of luck?" he asked. His expression suggested he already knew the answer - the grin had faded to a smile that held a measure of understanding for the grunt's abashed tone - and instead was prompting elaboration.

"True", the girl nodded. "The only way to make sure is to see how she will react if someone turns up." She looked at the two pokémon, her smile widening. To her, it was truly heartwarming to see two pokémon interact in such a manner.

Rei bristled its fur very slightly, showing more shyness than anything else, its eyes narrowing a tiny bit as if it was smiling as it nuzzled noses with Nemerle. It was clearly less tense than before.

At Hayes' question, Akemi shook her head slightly, a very light blush spreading on her pale face. "Certainly not.. But I guess that's to be expected when you're a part of a criminal organization - friendly types don't usually make it", she said. It was odd, though, how fast she'd gotten comfortable with this man. "Say.." she said then, her tone implying she was thinking pretty deeply. "You seem like the techie type? Correct me if I'm wrong. You just kinda.. remind me of someone." Indeed, Hayes' calm friendliness seemed very familiar to her.

"P'ka," Switch mumbled, half-dozing and draped over the Rocket's knees. Hayes might be watching that icy interloper's interactions with the fuzzball, but it was his ears that were getting rubbed and that was the important thing.

Nemerle's soft hum continued - not a purr, but a soothing murmur. Yes, very good. The pale Glaceon raised her head and looked first at Hayes, then at Akemi, her movements deliberate. Steel blue eyes turned back on Rei and the elder 'eon cocked her head as if to say 'See? What are you afraid of?'

"Not usually," Hayes seemed to half-smile in agreement before Akemi's 'say' made him blink and look at her over the top of his glasses. "Huh? Oh."

"Good guess," he grinned. The blond nudged his eyewear back in place. "I program and stuff for the tech sector, yeah. You know someone from there?"
