A lot of people jumped to this conclusion about Ellie Spectre's interest in cars. It was natural.
In reference to his voiced uncertainty, she just pointed out what she observed. "Just means ya gotta grow yerself some balls, boy!" Was it ever mentioned that the blonde tomboy lacked tact? Despite having insulted Azzo's "manhood," the girl was grinning after this statement.
Perhaps that was the thing that needed to happen to ease the tension slightly, for soon enough, she offered in a rather easy-going tone "And Dad's indirectly the reason I'm inta cars. My dad's best friend is a mechanic, and I spent a lot of time with him when I was a kid. I guess it just kinda stuck fer me."

Azzo looked at her almost in an interested sort of way. "Well that's one way to put it." He said with a chuckle after a second. If he was insulted he didn't show it.
He tilted his head listening to her, "Ah, at least you were able to find something you're good at." He said with a grin, "Not everyone's so lucky. Do you still go hang around him?"
He was curious since she seemed to lighten up.

His comment seemed to cause her lips to straighten into that flat line again. Obviously he said something she didn't agree with.
"No."
She spun back around and began walking back to her work area.
"I didn't find somethin' I'm good at."
Was the tomboy confessing that she had no talent in mechanics?
"No, I had to work to get good at what I do. Anybody who tells ya they're naturally good with this sorta crap is fulla sh*t. Nobody gives ya a talent on a silver platter. There's gotta be some work that goes inta it!"
She shook her head, then got back to work. Apparently it wasn't even worth mentioning the fact that she did still hang out with Hank.

Azzo stopped he seemed to be very good at putting his foot in his mouth with this girl. "I meant something you like to do." He said with a sturdy nod.
Though he tilted his head at the, statement she made. "At least I'm not the only one that actually has to work at something." He said in a rather quite tone. Thinking about the little bits of hypnotism his grandfather taught him. Though he didn't really feel like practicing it or even bothering with it as of late. He still wanted to find a good use for it though.
"Well of course they don't give it to you on a silver platter." He added, "Anything that is, is probably a rather large pain in the butt." He watched her get back to work and gave a slight look of, 'wonder if I should leave...'

"Ya should think before ya talk."
Pot calling the kettle moment aside, Ellie called it out as she saw it. "Requires less apologizin' and back trackin'..." The tomboy then seemed to grow absolutely silent, with the occasional sound of her tools livening up the air.
She wasn't making an effort to keep this conversation going. Azzo had gotten his advice. Advice which he honestly sounded like he wasn't going to take.

"Alright, well Thanks." He said.
As he was leaving he paused, "When I get the money, maybe I can meet your dad?" He said and paused for a second.
"Have a nice day." He said, he was still debating on things. He wasn't sure which way to go.

"Yeah, whatever."
It wasn't exactly the most committal response ever, but at least he got a reply back. In all honesty, Mr. Spectre was the sort who was rabidly trying to get business. Mr. Spectre liked money. A lot. If Ellie was lucky, maybe she roped in a customer for her dad.
It wasn't like she was trying.
She was trying to get her project done.
