Jada laughed at Elke softly. "I have to meet Grayson sometime. He seems like he's... interesting." Elke always spoke of her 'brother' with a fondness that made Jada's insides turn. She didn't have anyone that she could speak of like that. Jada didn't have friends. Not really. She had flunkies. She had people who tried to be her friend. She had... Elke. Who was a sister, and who had through sheer je ne sais quoi become the closest thing to a best friend that the raven-haired young woman had. Even Jada's own siblings didn't get spoken of in the tone that Elke used for Grayson.
"Not much is going on." Jada pressed her lips close to Elke's ear, her breath warm and almost damp, so close to her that her lips almost brushed the outer shell of the extremity. Her hand found its way to the other girl's arm, slim fingers curling over her wrist. "I actually bought you a little present. You'll have to come to my room and pick it up, okay?" She still had the little porcelain statuette that she'd bought that day shopping with Eve.
For that matter, she still had Audrey's little gift.

She shrugged a little bit, not enough to disturb Jada, but a little bit. "He's my brother," she explained. "He's-- he's like us." The bluenette seemed to be at a loss for English words, but that didn't really seem to slow her down. "And he is the nicest brother in the world and he always lets me make the pizza and he lets me win at Tekken and he watches the Princess Bride with me no matter how many times I say we should rewind it and watch it again. And he is my brother, and when I am scared he holds on to me and promises not to let go, and even though he does he does not, you know?"
Her smile was beatific, but it faded a little when she shuddered at how close Jada's lips were to her ear; from reflex, she turned her hand palm up. How silly, thought Elke as she stared at Viggo Mortenson. The Lord of the Rings surely wouldn't be scary. Why would Jada want to hold her hand?
"Okay," she said, drowsing a little bit; she had only been released from the hospital very recently, after all. "I promise I will."

Elke shrugged, and Jada felt her head rise and fall with the small action. "He sounds like a wonderful brother." her voice was wistful. "I always wanted a brother." she'd never been blessed with one. Well, not an older brother. Only Lucas- who as much as she loved him, was not an older brother. She'd always wanted one, never managed to acquire one.
Her lips curved and she considered it. "You are lucky." she said at last, finally.
Jada pulled away as the other girl shuddered, and when Elke's wrist turned under her arm, Jada slid her palm against the other girl's, sliding her fingers through her friend's. Elke sounded tired; it wasn't anything Jada could exactly complain about. She was still thanking God that Elke was alive. "Good." she said finally. And then she fell silent, watching the movie. A theater wasn't exactly the place to catch up.
