Hearing you talk about that gives me a visualization on how life moving away from your parents would be...I plan on moving out and I hope I don't have it tough like mana >_<

Well if you want something cheap and have no income, you'll most likely end up in a slum/drunk infested building. D: But hopefully that won't happen to you, it would be terrible as your first experience living on your own. This luckily is the third place I'm living in and it is the worst. Luckily I'm going abroad for next week so I can just chill and relax. =P

Uh... I live on my own in a studio apartment, so it's basically one big room (kitchen and bathroom separate of course).

And Volvy, I used to live with a roommate in a different place before this hellhole, but we got kicked out, because the CEO decided to make these 2-3 person households into family homes. And those were the last roommate-option houses in my town. That were cheap I mean. sad If I wanted a roommate in a regular rented apartment, we'd need at least a 3 room apartment, which is so way expensive for me, because I'm still studying and have no income. So I'll just have to wait and keep looking for another place, because I'm running out of patience living here.

That sucks. It's been my experience that there are usually apartment complexes affiliated with colleges where you can rent like 1/4 of a 4 bedroom apartment and they're pretty cheap. Different country though, so I guess the situation isn't the same.

That reminds me: I don't know if I mentioned this but I got my letter from Ohio University the other day. I'm going back to school (again), this time to study marine biology. So I guess I'll be hunting for a new apartment myself pretty soon.

Only if you are studying in a university that's like in the middle of nowhere that they offer a dorm room option. But since I'm studying (and living) in the heavily populated metropolitan area, everyone has to figure out their own living. D: Of course there are these like student foundations, who might be able to offer you a room in an apartment with 2-5 other people, but even those are difficult to get! They're mainly for students who come from far away and really don't have anywhere else to stay. And you can live in those apartments for as long as you're studying. I'm graduating in 7 months so at this point it's no use me getting one of those apartments.

And gratz with the uni, Volvy!

Totally this. Sounds awesome, Volvy.

@Mana: I'm characteristically late, so there's not much I can add that hasn't already been said, except that I'm amazed you're the only one that's complained about their behavior. I think by now they've established enough of a history that some other people have to have come forward to complain, further contributing to the landlord's option of threatening them with eviction. Unless, of course, Finland's statutory law governing tenancy is a lot more strict.

Thank you, thank you.

This will be my third time going to college, at my third different school. I already have like 100 credits, most of which won't apply to this degree, but at least all the basics are out of the way now.

Really though, it's getting ridiculous, so this time I've actually got to see it through.

At my university it was like, more or less, people who lived over 100km away from the city, received a place at the dorm. Others had to find something in town.

And since I come from 180 km away from this city...

What were your last two attempts? Same program?

As for me, I actually finished my undergraduate degree back in December, but I decided to get some extra training in my field before looking for a job, given the employment market right now. So, yeah, done in late May, hope to find work soon after.

No, this is a big change of pace... I used to be an English major.

And either the CEO hasn't made a complaint to my neighbours or my neighbours haven't given a s**t about the complaint. I got back from my trip and wanted sleep, since I didn't sleep in Budapest thanks to screaming children next door who were bathed 2-3 times every day. I unpacked my stuff and my neighbours were gone. I went to bed at around midnight and a few minutes later some people came to the neighbour's door with a great big ruckus - screaming, yelling and cursing. And they wouldn't believe the neighbours weren't present after one ring of the doorbell. Oh no. They were at it for quite some time until they realised no one's home.

At around 3.15 I was woken up when a big bunch of people got back from the bar (or wherever) and began fighting, cursing, yelling and screaming... all night. I was exhausted from my trip so I didn't have energy to find my ear plugs. I slept very poorly thanks to the noise and at 7.45 the party... didn't stop, instead it got worse. Music was put on and more shouting ensued. Oh, what a lovely "wake-up" on a Sunday morning. I'm really really really really ******** tired and exhausted and it's only 9.14. Luckily I have no school work to do. But I do have to go back to school tomorrow for 8, so I'd like to have had some rest before that. confused And I'm sending another complaint to the CEO and I will continue doing that daily until something is done.

Sending a note daily sounds like a good idea. 3nodding

And if that doesn't work, send two.

and if that doesn't work.....
