Ughhhhh... When I first switched from flute to bassoon, I had to get used to having that double reed thing stick out all the time. Everytime I spaced out, I scratched my face, bruised my mouth, and broke my reed countless times. I went through 5 reeds in a period of 2 weeks. xd Now I got used to it(finally)...

I've hit myself in the head with my bass guitar several times and once at band camp, when we were marching and playing the kid in front of me was too close and he stopped and thanks to the huge a** bell on a mellophone I didn't see that he stopped and I busted my lip with my mouthpiece. stressed

Flute/piccolo: I hit myself in the teeth and the lip a few times haha.

Trombone: Soemhow, my pinky slipped from the slide brace and and the slide came up and left a bubble. D:

Tuba: Oh god...
For marching band, I was carrying my friend's tuba (which doesn't have a case, and she was carrying mine, which had a case), and I kept hitting my side with it. I noticed some pains when we went back. I checked, I had bruises ALL the way up from my knee cap to my hip. D: Right before a comp.

Pit:
I hit my hand on the gong.

I got my feet ran over the vibes.

I was bringing the podium/stand thing that the DM stands on and my hands were all sore. (I also ran over a judges foot. -.-)

Here you are you are breathing life into ghosts under rocks like notes found in pocket coats of your fathers.

I thought I was the only one that's ever hurt themselves with an instrument. Good to know I'm not alone. Once I sneezed when I was holding my trombone, (I wasn't playing, just resting.) and banged my eye right against the mouthpiece. I now have a black eye from it. Then another time I brought my french horn up to my mouth too quickly and chipped my front tooth.
dude that happened to me with my tuba. i sneezed and hit my forehead on my mouthpiece. it hurts!

One of my friends (flute) was over at my house with me to stay the night and she brought her flute because my clarinet was finally fixed so we were going to practice together.

We were messing around I think and we were standing right next to each other and when she got ready to play, she raised her flute up too fast and hit me right in the eye while i was playing

*laughs* Yes, it was so fun that night. She was freaking out because she kept saying she was sorry and she was thinking she serverly hurt me or something. Nah, all she did was manage to cut me just below the eye.

Good times, Good times

my head was also almost taken off by a flute thanks to my best friend
i tripped over a misplaced clarinet...

all these other instruments are out to get me, but not mine.

I play oboe and they didn't have an wooden ones and my parents weren't going to pay the extra money anyway so we got a fiberglass one. Well one time I was in class and I leaned over to the second oboe (I'm first) and was like "Do I have a cut on my finger? It's killing me!" and she looked and went "There's a black thing on it" and I bit it. Well, that didn't stop the pain or get it out so we both just kept pinching my finger and it finally came out and she's like "You had fiberglass in your finger!!!" and I just stared at the oboe wondering how I managed that. But I've also cut my lips, gums, and tounge on my reed many times. sweatdrop

Oh! And at Spirit band (pep band) I was walking with my friends and I carried my oboe, the music, and someone's flute as they carried a stand and then they went and accidentally hit our other friend in the head. So the two of us are like 5'2" and the guy she hit is like 5'6" or talller or whatever. Anyway he had this giant bump about the size of a quarter on his forehead. It was also like an inch thick. It was still there next week when we went to another game.

biggrin I swtiched from flute to bassoon too.
Haha that exact same thing has happened to me like a million times....
:^; I hate it when my reed breaks because it usually breaks in my mouth and then I always raise my hand and am like
"Yea...my mouth is bleeding so I have to leave now...."

Bassoons are probably the most dangerous instrument.

Oh! I've always gotten my hair caught in it while putting it together...

Quads: I was playing them in pep band, and after a cadence was through, I saw mi finger bleeding on one of the quad heads. That bled for a while.

Crash Cymbals: The cymbal section at my school used to use their arms to support the cymbals. Bad idea, especially when you're choking them and your skin gets pinched in between. Or sizzling. My one friend's arm was all sorts of bruised.

Sousaphone: I marched it, enough said.

Oh, and I've hit my teeth with my mouthpiece a few times while bringing my horn up.

My clarinet reed got caught on the roof of my mouth and it hurt to pull it out. Also, my sax gave me a bruise on my hip once. On a number of occasions, the bench for my piano hurts my shins DX

I think that every flute player has been hit in the face or mouth with their flute at least once...I know I have...

I play the cello: which has a pointy metal stick at the bottom called an end pin in order to hold it up.

Don't jump up and down in excitement while holding one, WITH the end pin out...it may poke your foot and leave a nice little scar.
