Vaguely, Audrey jealously wondered what it was like to be so easily pretty as Jada was. It wasn't a new emotion for the girl, it was how she casually felt about Nealite, and how she'd first regarded Tanzanite until Aree had proven herself a pretty amazing person. Simply, the bluenette was incredibly jealous and wary of any excessively attractive individual. Jada eased this, however, with her congenial sweetness. She was just too nice to hate based on her looks.

Moving over behind the girl and dislodging several throw pillows and stuffed animals of varying species in the process, Audrey peered and flipped a page or two to the class guide. "Classes change depending on what race you are. Tauren, the cowpeople, are the only ones who can be druids. Blood elves are the only paladins, unfortunately. The rest are fairly evenly distributed role-wise." Peering closer she pointed at the chart in the book. "See? It lists by race what you can or can't be with those symbols and they correspond to the key at the bottom." Tucking a leg up under her, Audrey smiled.

"Though once you do that, I'm afraid I can't teach you too much more about the game without hands-on experience. We can try and create you a character on my account for a bit though, on a random server or something." The avid player was, of course, all full on her normal haunts. Alternate characters were crazy addicting. "As for her," a finger pointed over to Sylvanas, "she's the queen of the Undead. You can visit her whenever you want, but you start out nearby if you are of that race." Getting to Undercity from Thunder Bluff was a right b***h.

As Audrey moved behind her and grabbed the book, Jada shifted to make a little more room for the other young woman. Pillows and stuffed animals tumbled to the floor, but her attention was on the book that the bluenette was starting to flip through.

She scooted closer to Audrey, leaning in towards her to look over the classes. There were a few brief rundowns of every race, and the pored over them, scooting closer to get a better look at the chart. "Well..." she drawled it slowly. "I want to play one of the Blood Elves. They're pretty."

It should have been expected; Jada was a huge fan of appearances, and she wouldn't lie.

"What would be best for a new player?" she asked, looking over the classes. "I was thinking a hunter- they get pets! That's awesome. Or maybe a..." one french-tipped nail went to her mouth, tapping as she considered the page. "Well, pets help, right? They can be a diversion, right?"

She looked at Audrey as though she was seeking approval. "Or I could be a... Umm... a paladin! They can heal themselves and kill people all at the same time?" She gave a shy grin. "And no, I actually got Zora to set me up with an account this morning so I wouldn't have to take advantage of you."

Pondering this, Audrey considered both classes and shrugged equanimously. "Both are pretty good for a starting player. Pets can generally help deal damage and take the focus off of you, whereas a paladin is less skill-oriented and more of a 'bash its face in until it dies' class. It does help, however, that paladins come equipped with a heal off the beat, absolutely." Tilting her head and twirling curls around her finger thoughtfully, she considered again. "I suppose it's all about finesse? Paladins aren't big on strategy and elegance, whereas with a hunter you can potentially manage larger crowds. They're a definite crowd-control class, absolutely."

Hugging her legs up against her chest, Audrey smiled with her chin on her knees. "That works too, you having your own account! That way if you have a laptop, and I'm sure you do, you can go home and toy with it from there. We can even get you a nice headset and I can voicechat you through sometimes if you get lost. I'm sans guild at the moment, so I do a lot of random nothingness and PUGs. Er ah, that is, pick-up groups of random people I've never met before. Sorry, jargonmonster got me." It was a lot to take in, but she was confident. If Jada was already lightly paddling through the waters of WoW Basics 101 then the game wouldn't be hard to pick up. It even came with an annoyingly handy tutorial!

"'Sides, you could never take advantage of me Jada! I'm far too willing." Giggling and teasing, she leered playfully at her friend and poked her side lightly.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 23, 2010 12:02 pm

Jada watched Audrey twirl her hair, mildly jealous of the pretty color. Her hair was... black. Like almost everyone else in her family. One couldn't really dye black, not unless they bleached it out first, and she wasn't going to ruin her hair like that.

"PUG. Pick up group." she repeated. "How would you voicechat me? Just like Skype or something?" She knew what Skype was. "Minus the webcame, I would assume. I could do that." she smiled. "Can I use your computer to get you to help me make my first character?" she perked up a little, starting to wiggle.

Far too willing, huh? Jada laughed, about to say something; at that moment, Audrey poked her in the side. The heiress was shocked. Appalled. And then she crawled forward, across the bed, giving the other young woman's hair a gentle little tug. She didn't want to hurt Audrey, the other girl was playful and she was being playful in return. Jada's other hand moved for the younger girl's belly button, hopefully while the girl was distracted. "You!" she couldn't stop her own little giggle, hopefully telling the bluenette she wasn't angry. "I fight back, Ms. Collins." She stuck out her tongue.

How immature.

"Is that your natural hair color, Audrey?" her tone was wistful as she started to settle down, tugging her shirt back down over the top of her pants. "It is such a pretty one."

Squealing and all but tumbling off the daybed in her need to get away from the ticklish fingers of Jada, Audrey collapsed on the floor in giggles and clutched her stomach protectively. Apparently, she was highly ticklish in the stomach region, and Jada had gotten her in the proper spot. The hair tug hadn't helped either, and she was almost thankful for the tickle that followed. Audrey had a tendency to shiver when her hair was played with, and tugs were even worse. It was truly her deepest secret, something that would never be shared with anyone, for it was far too dangerous.

"That was unfaaaaair, oh gosh." Wheezing, she sat up on the carpet and grinned. "And yeah, I was born like this. I think my dad was the fluke in his family and his hair is dark. My cousin Kinkade has blue-ish hair too, and so does his dad. Dunno how I got bright sapphire, but it's something different at least." Pulling on a tangle in her hair she grimaced at her hair and tossed it back again. "The curls are a pain though." Crawling over and snagging both mouse and keyboard from their tray, she dragged them down to the floor and brought up the game before handing them off to Jada. The screen was easily visible, being the thirty-some inch TV mounted directly on the wall across from them. "Voice chats we can do wherever. In game, Ventrilo, Skype, whatever floats your tugboat."

Flop, she hit the floor on her back again and waited for Jada to enter her information. "I play on the Blackhand server for Horde, but you can join somewhere else if you want~ Totally up to you!" Ahhh, fresh meat. It was a joy, it really was.

Jada chased Audrey across the bed, eyes wide when the other young woman hit the floor with a thump. "Audrey, are you okay?" she couldn't help but keep on giggling, small little shakes. "I didn't mean to knock you off the bed." she reached down, offering the other girl her hand to help her back up.

"It's so pretty." she reached out, tugging her hands gently through the curls. "The curls wouldn't actually be that hard to take care of. Feel mine." she waggled the ends of her dark hair towards Audrey. "I have a really good conditioner I could suggest to you. A little expensive, but nothing obscene." Her mother was the one with the $300.00 conditioner. Jada's dirty secret was that hers was only around a tenth of that price!

She watched Audrey crawl across the floor and drag up the game. Her fingers tapped across the keyboard:

username - ladyluck1992
password - ****************

"I may as well play on the same team as you. Well, the same server, technically. But the Horde is all the same team, right? I want to play with you, you can show me how to do stuff. And if I need help, I go 'Audrey! Audrey! Superwoman, save me!'" She reached down, patted the girl on the head. "And you'll save me, because you are awesome. Right?"

Augh god, hands in the hair again! Behind her back, Audrey fisted one hand tightly and drove nails into her palm to stem back the ripples traveling down her nervous system. A light little jump made it out, however, and made her blush as the bluenette hopped up to finger the silky black hair with light fingers. "Fallon said that conditioner was important. I've been trying to listen, but I guess I haven't found the right one yet. I'll have to force you to tell me all your beauty secrets, I guess. Did you sleep for a hundred years first or something?" Haha, cute joke Audrey. Rolling eyes at her own awful pun, slim fingers pointed at the screen.

"It's all the same team, but you can't put too many people in the same room or it gets too crowded. So first you have to pick the room you want to play in. That's how servers work, separate game rooms, I guess. And I will save you because that would be awful, I'm not that awesome. At the game, okay maybe I am pretty freaking amazing but...yeah." Compliments had never sat too well with Audrey, though she seemed to expect them in some areas of her life. "I should probably follow you around with my pally, huh? Resurrect spell at the ready?" Bending, she scooped up a handy stuffed owl and hugged it to her chest as Jada flipped through the options for the races and all their many customizations.

"I have the laptop to play on too, if things really do get too difficult. I should log and come give you money or something so you're not scraping around for your skills." Lips split into a wide and cheeky grin as the blue-haired geek looked up at Jada. "That's a first huh? Me giving you money?"

"Did you sleep for a hundred years first or something?" Audrey's voice was playful, but it made something in the back of Jada's mind flicker before she also laughed.

"No, I didn't sleep for 100 years." she stuck out her tongue at the bluenette. Hands in her hair made her close her eyes, give a happy sigh. "The only time people play with my hair is when I go to a salon." Jada admitted, almost leaning into the light touches. "And they only do it because they have to." Jada always got a shampoo before and after her haircuts. It was habit, and if she was going to pay exorbitant amounts of money for a trim, she'd get every privilege she could.

"Well, can people in different game rooms ever play together?" she shifted her attention away from the hands in her curls as they left to point at the monitor. "Because if they can't, I know I need to be in your room." Which one had Audrey said... Backhand? Sucha violent name. Running through the list of options, Jada found the one that she was looking for. "Blackhand, right?" she clicked on the option.

So far, pretty self-explanatory.

"Will I die often enough as a new character that I need a paladin right out of the box?" she looked mildly alarmed at the thought. (protip in advance: She probably would.) she selected the race she wanted: The pretty elves. Blood elves. She selected a hairstyle, and color, going over every detail she could. She would play the hunter.

This wasn't so hard. This wasn't playing the game. Finally she came to a screen that gave her pause.

Name.

"What should my name be?" she tapped her nails against the keyboard, carefully not striking the keys. "And certainly, though you know as soon as I can I'll pay you back every coin." You always pay the balance in full on your debts. "Plus interest."

Critically, Audrey eyed the inky mass on top of Jada's head and considered how cute she might look with a nice bow on the end of it. Everyone looked better with ribbons, and this was something she had firmly convinced herself through middle and most of high school when it had been pulled on cruelly. "You should let me braid your hair. I have these lovely little thin ribbons that would shine so pretty in there too if you wanted." Ribbons were like stockings, you couldn't really have too many. There were spools and spools of ribbon buried in the sewing room for whenever Audrey decided that it was time for a new one.

"But don't worry about gold or repayment, trust me, it's not so easy to make as all that and you end up needing all of it. Took me forever to farm up enough for epic flight the first time and then cold-weather? Hooboy. If I hadn't been a raider it wouldn't have happened, lemme tell you. Biggest gold drain I've ever seen." Well, that and the mechano-hog. And the three-person mammoth. The bluenette had them all, and the Blue Dragonhawk mount besides. She'd tried to get the arena mounts, but learned quickly that she was probably not as hardcore as she would have liked. At all. "And no, I doubt you'll need my delightful res services often. You don't take exp or armor damage before ten anyway, so you can die as much as you want. Takes up time, but that's what learning's for right?" She loved to learn.

Loved it!

Already Audrey was dragging out her laptop and punching up the game on a much smaller screen, fingers pulling what looked like a fancy USB stick out of her tower and plugged it straight into her monitor. "Authenticator. So nobody can log into my account without it." Fingers flew to enter her information, and suddenly there was quite a lot going on. "You should pick a name that you like, I guess. Some more common names are taken, but you can always use the randomizer if you really can't come up with something, I guess." Almost absently, she piloted her own character while watching Jada hem and haw over hers. "Name's not too important, I mean, if I don't see a p***s reference once every five toons, I wonder what's wrong today." Truth!
PostPosted: Sat Mar 27, 2010 8:30 pm

"You want to braid my hair?" Jada glanced at the bluenette, mildly confused, then gave a shrug. "Do what you will with me." it was said cheerfully. "I haven't put ribbons in my hair since I was..." how old had she been the last time that she'd had someone decorate her hair? "Probably since I was five."

Epic flight? Cold weather? Raiders? "Jargonmonster!" Jada said cheerfully. But she got the basic idea. Money was hard to come by, and you needed a lot of it.

Well.

"so should I assume the best way to make money is through 'raiding?' And would it be advisable to get one of these Authenticators? Are they really that useful?" She knew that both of her sisters had similar little sticks. She typed the name she chose into the little box.

Success!

She was logging in to the game.

With permission given, the bluenette was eying her friend with an expression akin to absolute glee. Not only was the girl playing Warcraft, but all that long black hair was hers to do whatever she pleased with it? And she could braid ribbons into it?! Crawling again over the carpet, an old kaboodle box was pulled from out under the bed with much smiling on Audrey's part. The thing looked like it had seen better days, and probably been run over by a car at some point, but the plastic still held - for the most part. Dragging it over, the teen clambered behind the other and tugged her hair down to brush it before talking again.

"Raiding is the best way, but don't even worry about that. That's at least not a hard bit of jargon to get, they're just large groups taking on giant obstacles. Like a police raid is a big group of cops?" It was interesting, to be taking care of someone else's hair. Jada didn't have any of the snarls that so characterized Audrey's own hair. "But I don't think you'll need an authenticator just yet. I only got mine because I have so much money and a lot of high-end items on my account, don't want to be hacked. Lower-level accounts are generally free and clear." Logging in, Audrey pointed to the bright exclamation point over the blond elf's head. "See that? Means she has a quest for you. You right-click to take the quest and if you read it tells you what to kill. The general point of the game is to finish quests and kill things for better items and experience points. Eventually you level and start doing bigger and better things. Kinda like working up from a nobody to a hero!" Which was the lure, really.

Digging through her kit, she pulled out a shiny spool of metallic gold ribbon. "What do you think of this?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:15 pm

Jada glanced at her new friend from the corner of her eye before buckling down to the game. She noticed the old plastic case get pulled from the bed and spared half an eye for it- at least until Audrey's hands started working through her hair. Both eyes briefly closed, until Audrey spoke up, pointing out something Jada felt she may need to open her eyes for.

Oh. Exclamation points.

Turning her attention back to the big screen, she saw that there was a person right in front of her with one of these exclamation points. Move forward with... she pressed a few buttons, figuring out some basic controls. "Zero to Hero~" she sang under her breath. She'd watched too many Disney movies.

She heard rustling behind her and glanced back as the bluenette held out a spool of gold ribbon. "I think it is very shiny." she said finally, and grinned. "So what are you going to be doing with my hair? Or do I not get to find out?"

Audrey'd caught the lyrics and well and grinned widely, adding her own voice quietly. Quiet was good, as it sounded a bit rough and warbling from the girl whose voice was normally solid as a rock. Certainly she wasn't a stutterer and it was almost as if she couldn't get the breath out to make the notes. A singer Audrey Collins was not, and she knew it, cheeks flaming as her voice died away and Jada confirmed the choice of the ribbon. Tucking a wave of that lovely hair back into place she simply grinned and shook her head.

"Nope, you just have to trust me. If you don't like it we can pull it down before you leave, but right now your hair is my delicious victim. I haven't had someone's hair to play with...well, ever so you get to have my stylist virginity. Congratulations!" There was a stutter now in the laugh that was slightly nervous. "You just worry about killing things and I will worry about alllll this." The brush started to run through again before fingers deftly started to braid the expanse and tied it off expertly at the bottom. Braids were always easy, she could braid her own hair! Fished out of the kit was the thick plastic needle and the ribbon was threaded through it before looping the braid over her friend's head and slowly starting to loop the ribbon through. Before long, the coronet was looped around and threaded twice with both black and gold ribbon to secure it to her head.

She'd been fielding questions the whole time, but this was probably going to be a greater concern and Audrey grinned and held out her hands on either side of Jada's head in a ta-daaaah motion. "There! It's done! Probably not the greatest thing ever, but heyyy it's my first!" Audrey had been dying to do this to her own hair for quite some time, but could never manage on her own. The lovely Crystal girl was the perfect test subject!
PostPosted: Wed Mar 31, 2010 7:02 pm

The young woman gave a delighted laugh as Audrey joined in the song. "Who'd'a Thunk?" she said, teasing. Audrey's voice wasn't bad; untrained, but just as damnably cute as the rest of her.

"I guess I will put my social life in your hands." Jada gave a dramatic sigh. "Do with us what you will." her cheeks flared at the congratulations. "I hope it is as good for you as it will be for me?" her own laugh was a nervous giggle. Until Audrey's hands slid back into her hair and she gave a beatific smile. It felt nice.

Jada obeyed Audrey, however, paying more attention to the television screen than the fact that she was fighting the urge to kick her leg like a spoiled puppy. She asked questions when she ran across one, but for the most part tried to leave Audrey to her self-appointed task. Finally the other woman finished. Jada stopped (mid combat!) to go take a peek in the mirror.

"It's adorable!" she peered into the mirror. Sleeker than anything she normally wore, it gave her an older look. That would be easy to fix with a couple of loose strands pulled around her face, she figured. "I think you did a really good job on it, for all that I was your first time." she stuck out her tongue teasingly.

Flustered, Audrey dropped her eyes to her fingers and idly played with an elastic, face lurid pink and reddening slowly with the compliment and the euphemism. It was somewhat adorable the way the brash young woman went absolutely to pieces whenever something nice was said about her. You could compliment her math skills and she would simply beam and admit to them with shocking rapidity, but if you said she was good at other things, or god forbid compliment her looks, poor Audrey went all to pieces.

"Thanks...it was nice to try." Her voice was shy and quiet, and in the silence, it was easy to hear the sound of something repeatedly smacking against something else, with cheesy groans and moans. "Oh shi-" Almost tripping over herself, the teen wrenched the keyboard from where Jada'd left it to go prance over and look at her hair, mashing several keys at once. The screen flashed red and swearing profusely, the poor blood elf died a grisly death at the hands of a random red-named character that had snuck up on the idle character. "God damn it, I'm sorry Jada! I tried to fight but at this level you're just so damn squishy, augh balls." Angrily, she threw a pillow through the door just in time to barely miss a perky blond head that was peering around the doorway.

"Audrey Joanna Collins, what did we tell you about throwing things and swearing like that in this house?" Only an inch or two taller than her daughter, Shelley Collins had her hands on her hips in the doorway, scowling at her daughter before swapping over to a smile in Jada's direction. "Jada, dear, you don't have any allergies do you? I'm about to start heating up dinner and the hospital isn't too nearby." Practicality ran deep in the Collins family, even if the lady of the house was minorly forgetful.
