"Stronger than my parents? Wow, that will be strong!" She gasped and began to think of the possibility. She wanted to spend her life one adventure after another, she would have to be strong!
"Having strong 'roots'? Oh my mum has taught me all about stances, running, and how to use your stamina to its full extent! She also taught me alot about waiting and listening before striking. She says that having a clear mind, unclouded with revenge or other emotions is best in combat. And the strongest attack is not always the best. Daddy also talks alot about defense being my greatest offense. Though I am still having a bit of trouble getting my head around it." She admitted to her friend with a slight blush.
She looked up from the ground and into the sky. It seemed to be coming closer to them, "We are going up so high! Wow its so nice up here, so quiet.~" she mused and let the wind blow through her snow white mane.

"I'd imagine so!" Brioso chuckled at the filly's reaction, finding it rather adorable that she thinks so highly of her parents. Then, she paused, scanning the area; they are still a long distance away from the real peak where Yei and Grencia are, but they will be reaching the ledge that rests above the clouds before the end of the day... Perhaps they might even be able to catch the sunset! Its a spectacular sight, hopefully an unforgettable experience for the growing filly.
"Ah yes," She replied with a smile, turning her attention back to Nerissa, "Those are important... I'm sure you'll get what your father is trying to teach you one day!" She paused, looking thoughtful, "When you know how to defend yourself and stand your ground when you are being attacked, you are reserving your strength while the attacker is losing energy. In that way, when he or she is considerably weakened, you can go into the offense and knock him or her off guard... Does that make sense?"
The mare laughed, before nodding, "It is, isn't it? It's much cooler here too, and the air is fresher. I'm surprised you're adjusting so quickly to the thin mountain air! Then again, we're moving at a good pace... We should be there soon!"

Nerissa gave the mare's explanation her attention, eyes and ears both eagerly open hoping for an answer to the small riddle the concept had handed her. At its finish she beamed and gave out a noise of grasping the concept. "Ah! I think I get it now, sort of like using the opponent's force against them, right? I can get that!" He small body again rang out with sheer pleasure of accomplishment. She now couldn't wait to tell her father that she understood.
"I guess it makes much more sense now that I think about it in a realistic way. Like a strong tree making a charging foal fall down as they try to knock it over?" She blushed at the personal memory, but not caring to admit the examples ties to her.
She smiled brightly, "Wow that makes things much clearer for me now!" She laughed in addition.
Blinking as the laughter felt strange in her lungs, ""yes Ive been feeling the change in air, but I don't really have any problems with it. It feels thin and lighter than it usually does though. Does it get even thinner up high?" Having her mother's galloper lungs, she naturally adjusted to changes in hair well. She could also keep a good breathing pace when running and sparring, even was able to hold her breath for impressively long amounts of time.

"Yes! In fact, there are lots of ways to do that other than wearing your opponent down," Brioso smiled, glad that the filly understood her explanation, "When you're being charged at, you can use it to your advantage as well; most of the time, charging means that they'll be easy to trip and topple... I'm sure you'll be taught ways of doing that in the future!"
She couldn't help but chuckle at the image, nodding as she did, "Yes! Because a tree has strong roots to hold it to the ground! However, remember that other than being rooted, you need to be flexible as well... A strong storm will topple a stubborn, unyielding tree but not say, a..." She paused, trying to think of a suitable example; her eye then lit up, "Ah! Tall grass! It'll bend and sway with the strong winds and never be uprooted."
She smiled, nodding at the filly's question, "Yes, it does! And it gets colder too... Up at the peak, the snow never melts. I've never been there though."

Nerissa nodded her head with a very serious expression on her face. "yes like grass!" She exclaimed. Her imagination already weaving a clear picture of long, field grass as it danced in the violent winds of a storm. She could even hear the thunder in the dark clouds in her dreamland sky.
They slowed their brisk walk down to a steady one as the air began to thin quicker and quicker. "How cold does it get? Cold like in the winter?" Having been born late winter, very early spring, she only knew tales of the biting, freezing cold the the merciless season of winter held. In her ears it sounded terrible and unthinkable for the world to simply die for so many months. But Nerissa knew perfectly well that there was no real knowing before seeing it for ones self. She was deeply excited for her first winter!
"Can i even see my own breath?"

"Yes, just like winter," The mare replied with a nod, inclining her head towards where she knew the peak was, although it wasn't visible from where she was, "Although I've heard that with the strong winds up there, it gets much colder than that. During winter, I imagine it to be inhabitable except for animals adapted to live in such a harsh climate..." She shivered at the thought; she prefer the coolness of spring and autumn to the extreme hots and colds of summer and winter.
"Yes, you can!" She laughed, "You will be able to see it come winter too... It is very fascinating to see your own breath!"

The filly's green eyes grew even bigger with exploding curiosity as her new friend spoke of the climates of the far mountain top. It seemed amazing that such a different realm of temperature and conditions existed so near her.
"It sounds amazing!" She giggled, her voice high with excitement. "Can such a magical place really exist?" Though this was more a question to herself and the void that she often asked her answer-less questions to.
She quickened her pace behind the dark mare, keeping her knees high in her trot. "I wonder why that is - seeing your breath that is. Is there really such a smoke in our lungs, or is it something else?" He mind started to dream about the possibility of kitchens and great ovens in her lungs. Creating a gas that could only be seen when the air was at a specific low.

"Yes, it does exist," Brioso laughed, offering the filly a grin. She then looked away, surveying her surroundings; they were getting closer to the cliff... If the good weather keeps up, they would be able to clearly see the 'sea of clouds'! It is going to be spectacular! She can only hope that Nerissa won't do anything silly... At the moment, she is answerable for the young filly, after all, and she is pretty sure Selene wouldn't want her daughter covered in bruises after this trip.
"Well... I'm not very sure myself," She answered, turning her attention back to the filly as she tilted her head; she had never really thought of why it happens. Raising an eye brow, she smiled, "I guess its a question we would have to ask someone else later!"

Out of the corner of her eye, Neri saw Brioso surveying their shared surroundings and she momentarily snapped out of her wild daydreams. She wondered why her companion was doing so, surely she knew the lay of this land well enough not to be lost and looking for the right way. or maybe she was looking for a landmark to guide her further? Or perhaps she saw an interesting rock? Or maybe even saw a snake?
A curious little grin popped onto the red filly's face and she copied her friend's eyes and tried to find what was so intriguing. But even once Brioso had finished inspecting the land, Neri continued looking over every speck of the rocks and dirt. it all; became interesting to her as she began o think about it, day dreams instantly popping into her mind as she floated off from reality once again.
Her bubble popped and she was sent back when Bri told Neri she didn't herself know for the reason one's breath became visible. "I want to know now!" She giggled, always being the adventurous and curious one, "I will have to find out why before my first winter!"
She smiled brightly at Brioso, then suddenly remembered why she had been staring at the ground only a moment ago. "What were you looking at before? Are we near the top now?" That possibility got her giddy again. "Oh I hope we are!" She was now bouncing on the tips of her small hooves with childish joy.

"I wish to know too, but there's nobody around that we can ask!" Brioso replied with a soft chuckle, giving the filly a soft nudge to her shoulders; her little antics and high excitement levels are so refreshing! Her mentor isn't the most humorous stallion out there, after all... Even Yei - his own mother - had said that he was like a 'plank of wood' despite his good qualities. Spending so much time with him, training the hours away relentlessly, had almost made her forget the main reason why she was training in the first place... To be able to gain the strength to help others. More importantly, from this little trip, she had regained a little bit of the child-like excitement and wonder at being able to chase her childhood dream.
"Actually, we're technically already here," She replied with a grin, increasing her speed a little as she turned and gestured at an uneven and rocky "stairway" weathered into the rock. The "stairway" was more like a rocky and steep path, common in the mountains. However, one could actually see the end of this "stairway"; she had gone through enough training for the activity to be easy, but for a lowland foal at this altitude?
"You go first, but be careful! I'll be behind you to push you up it you need it... Some steps can be rather hard to reach, but the view will be worth this short climb!"

Nerissa chuckled at the nudge, it reminded her of her family when they played silly games together. Her mind quickly picked up on that moment of reality-lapse and started thinking of all the things she could do once she came back down and back to her beloved big brother.
By the time Brioso started talking again, Neri was determined to ask her mother for a scavenger hunt for her and her brother. She snapped back and blinked her dark eyes a few times to see what her new friend was motioning to.
Her mouth opened slightly at what she saw. It was exactly that; a staircase! She had seen a few rough and odd rock formations on their way up, but this was so sharp and clear. It didn't look natural at all. The red filly smiled brightly and nodded to her friend. The wonders of the nature around them never stopped surprising her.
She gingerly trotted over to the stone steps and assessed them momentarily. Placing a small, gray hoof to test as well. Then the beamed and without another word started jumping up higher and higher. But almost like an after thought, she remembered safety and slowed down and become more careful with each step.

Brioso followed behind Nerissa, making sure that the filly was safe from harm. When she saw her speed up dangerously, Brioso opened her mouth to yell 'Careful!' but quickly closed it again when she saw that there was no need for her warning - Nerissa seemed to have remembered.
Once she was at the end of the 'stairway', she would step onto a gently inclining rock surface. It was probably only big enough to fit three full-grown Soquili, but its uneven surface made it relatively slip-free and safe, provided you stay clear of the edge. Beyond the rock's edge, the quickly setting sun had painted the sky red, orange and yellow. However, the most spectacular sight - and the thing that Brioso had wanted to show Nerissa - was the 'sea of clouds' that seem to swirl about, barely out of reach from where they were standing.
"Well, I guess this is what many high flying birds see," Brioso smiled, admiring the view; she had never seen the sunset from here before, and now that she had, she would probably come back another day to see it again. Turning to face the filly, she chuckled, "So, what do you think? Worth every step of the way up here, right?"

Slowly climbing up their path to the treasures the small filly could only start to dream of, they walked in relative silence. A falling rock here, a misplaced hoof there. But no words echoed.
A smile and rise in excitement was already birthing in Nerissa as she willed her strong, little legs not to race up to their goal just yet, but keep a steady pace. Clearing the last few 'steps' up, she finally burst at the top of their mountain and stood victorious. Smiled beaming and lighting up her whole face, deep green eyes huge and unable to keep from staring at the gorgeous sight before her.
Was it real? It couldn't possibly be real. Too beautiful too beautiful. Nerissa's legs slowly moved her towards the side nearest to her without her consent.
the view, oh the view, it was beyond anything she could have ever dreamed of as a treasure! The colors in the clouds, the breeze blowing up to her, the beauty of the setting sun on the far horizon, but the clouds!
She looked at it so she didn't see the rock under her feet, only saw the sky surrounding her.
"I am flying!" she burst out, ready to jump, but feeling nailed to the ground with nearly tangible awe.
"its so....too beautiful!" Her head started to shake slightly as she couldn't quite grasp the beauty around her. It was just amazing.

"Whoa-" Brioso almost jumped forward to keep Nerissa away from the edge when she had moved too close to it. While she had looked at the view with awestruck eyes a minute before, the mare's eyes were now focused on the filly in front of her. Her expression softened and she relaxed a little, however, at the sound of Nerissa's excited voice. She chuckled at her comment, "It does make you feel like you're flying, doesn't it?"
She paused, allowing both of them to enjoy the view in silence. The smile on her lips grew as she nodded in agreement, her voice soft as she spoke, "Isn't it? No matter how many times I had seen it, its still wonderful... Remember your promise though - don't do anything out of the necessary without my permission!"
She didn't want to sound so stiff and rigid, especially with such a breathtaking view in front of them, but she was concerned about Nerissa's safety... Both of them do not possess wings, after all.

Nerissa basked in the dream that had seemed to envelop them both. It felt precious, like a porcelain memory she wouldn't let end. A glistening, floating soap bubble she was blowing up so it wouldn't pop.
She her Brioso behind her and roboticaly turned her head slightly towards her momentary guardian; though eyes still completely glues to the realm just out of her reach, and nodded with a smile.
She took a few steady steps backward, still staring, and stood next to the darker mare's side as they both gazed out.
I am SO sorry i have vanished! D: i miss you doll <3
